This is the 1st pipe tobacco I smoked. I have smoked many types and brands over the last 40 years and like my beer tastes, there aren't many I disliked. But I always come back to Carter Hall with a slightly chilled PBR at the end of the day. It is my desire to be buried with a pouch of Carter Hall, my favorite corncob pipe and a bottle of PBR.

I see all of the rave reviews, but my experience may differ. I opened the pouch expecting a stronger casing, but it was pleasant. I touched the tobacco, as I packed my first bowl, and found the tobacco to be real dry, almost to the point of crunchiness. I packed it in, lit up and had nothing but trouble keeping it lit. I found the tobacco to burn too fast and I expected to get an idea of the room note, but was found wanting. My wife said it was, "O.K. but not great". Since the first go round, I have used the damp towel / air circulation method of re-hydration. I had a little more success with maintaining a burn, but still failed me on the other notes. Purchased after the reading "Your grandfather's tobacco" in a review. Not a match. Granddad must have been smoking apples and honey...

I've been a pipe smoker for over sixty years. After experimenting with a variety of other brands in early years,am most satisfied and have settled in with Carter Hall. My only fear is that I will again encounter the dreaded "SOLD OUT"on your site again...twice now. Please keep a supply available.

This has become my 'go to' everyday tobacco. I've smoked it for years and have yet to find a better overall smooth,non-biting,and pleasantly aromatic smoke. It does not overpower an area with its aroma and is reasonably priced. I might also add that Pipes and Cigars has terrific prices with ultra-fast shipping. I buy this exclusively from P&Cs.

Been piping for years, but oddly enough, only ran into Carter Hall recently, due to limited availability (thank you pipesandcigars.com). Very light on casing, pleasant room note, burns evenly and not very hot. The flavor is no-frills and mild. Solid morning coffee smoke; I really like it! I'll be keeping this around.

Carter Hall is easy to light, stays lit longer and never bites no matter what pipe I put it in. After many years of experimenting, I've concluded that it's my favorite everyday tobacco.

Carter Hall was my first pipe tobacco. I've recently come back to it after many years and happy I did so. It's burley, but with a fair amount of virginia which makes it a bit sweeter than many other OTC burley blends. It's not complex, but that's OK by me. It's ready to smoke right out of the tub. It's consistent, packs easily, and burns well. I usually mix Carter Hall 50/50 with Walnut -- makes a tasty smoke that I don't have to think much about to enjoy. Carter Hall is in my rotation again -- welcome back, old friend.

Good ole Carter Hall. My favorite 1st pipe tobacco of the day. I started with Carter Hall back in 1969 and I have always had a can near by. Not the room note of 1-Q but when I smoke it I am usually alone with my coffee. Glad a goood old tobacco still is available.

I have not found a better cheap burley. I love this tobacco. I keep coming back to it. A must buy.

A very mellow smoke no bitterness and

I love this tobacco. It is cheap but it's right up there with the best. Casing is delightful (whiskey smell). Tastes great. stays lit. not bite.
