Corn Cob General Pipe - Bent

I now find these tall cobs to be better than briars because I don't need to clean them so often to get a cool and dry smoke. If they're packed loosely, they smoke top to bottom on one match, and it never sounds like you're blowing bubbles.

I've long been a fan of Misouri Meershaum Cobs and would highly recommend them to anyone. I tried the Macarthur for a long, cool smoke but found the bowl a little too deep making later relights difficult. The General is the perfect size for such a smoke.

I got this pipe because I've had good experience with corncob pipes before. It burned through the first time I used it. One side of the pipe is all charred and cracked. It tastes like burning corncob not the fine tobacco I loaded it with. I didn't smoke it any harder or hotter than I smoke my briar pipes and none of them have ever burned though so it's not my smoking technique. Apparently they don't make corn cob pipes like they used to. I'm REALLY unhappy with this purchase.

These are great pipes that I customize by drilling out the superfluous hardware in the bowl and cut a new vulcanite full size stem to replace the plastic straw they come with. Why MM does not make a decent sized plastic stem is beyond diehard cobbers' comprehension.

I smoke modified Generals 50% of the time. Walker Briar Work's Dave is slowing down and concentrating his pipe business on making stems for Missouri Meerschaum smoking machines.

I have spent the last 10 years building my briar pipe collection, spending hundreds of dollars. I should have bought a few of these and I would not have wanted anything else. I get a long cool smoke from the 2" deep bowl. Don't hesitate, just get it!
