Pipe smoking is all about being ourselves. Social norms be darned. So if someone thinks you're soft for liking this, forget them. This is one tasty bit of tobacco.

Wonderful caramel and dried fruit fragrance out of the bag, and a room note so nice my wife will even sit with me while I smoke it. Knowing her that's a pretty big deal. I had no real problem with wetness on my P&C order, though don't be afraid to dry it a bit. Packs well, stays lit reasonably well, and I've never had a big problem with gurgle.

This is a fine aromatic suitable for a smoker of any experience level. Just enjoyable. If you've never tried it, give it a go. A great smoke for reading a book in the porch.

For the beginner or veteran pipester, 1Q is an exceptional all-day smoke. Add a little hint of vanilla to it, and the tobacco would be more than perfect!!

Smooth and full of flavor. Even non-smokers love the smell of 1Q wherever I go.

Smells like the candy aisle at Wal-Mart in the pouch. Sticky goopy and packs like it. So heavily cased that it leaves your fingers sticky. Burns like a forest fire with plenty of smoke. No room note and utterly devoid of flavor. You'll like it if you smoke just for looks. How this can be the number one selling pipe mixture in the country is beyond me. Never again.

Smells good in the jar; smells good lit in the room; packs super easy; lights like a charm; stays lit. With a great flavor - not too sweet, but it is in there - 1Q is a fantastic smoke. Very little bite - so it hits that sweet spot for a great aromatic - smells good as leaf; smells good as smoke; tastes good in the pipe.

I tried Lane Limited 1Q just a few months ago, but I have to say it did not take me long to make it my favorite everyday smoke, there is no tongue bite at all, and this is a mild and very smooth and tasteful smoke. If you have not tried this, do yourself a favor and try it, you won't be sorry!!

Easy smooth smoke.

I've been smoking this blend since the 80's. Auberdeen, Majestic, San Martin, and Haleakala are a few names I know from several smoke shops, but they can't change the great smoke that it is.

I'm new to pipe smoking, this is the first bulk blend I've tried and it made the room smell like heaven and tasted similar. The batch I got was a little wet, so I let it dry a bit.

This has been my everyday smoke for over 10 years. I have been smoking a pipe over 40 years. Always a pleasant flavor and aroma. PipesandCigars offers a great price and the best service.

A good regular rotation tobacco. Good flavor, good burn. But like all tobacco, don't let it get to hot...it ruins the blend.

Nothing much to add for this fine product except that delivery was rapid and the acrylic jar looks very nice.

When I heard all great things and read all the positive comments about this blend, I had to give it a try. It seems like an in between blend of Captain Black Regular and Royal with a touch of something extra. The room note is very nice, burns evenly an the taste is mild. Can't ask for more!

1Q is my fovorite tobacco. Pleasant smell, mild and burns extremly well. I keep several blends on hand, including English blends, but 1Q gets the complements when I'm out and around people, where you can smoke. The women give the most compliments and strike up the conversation first.

Being a beginner this is a tobacco I can appreciate. Taste isn't to much and room note is wonderful. This is what I grab when I just want to chill and puff. Nothing complex just a good simple smoke. I think I will keep this in the line up for some time to come.

Sometimes i'm not interested in a complex or heavy smoke.And in those times 1Q is the answer.Not much in the flavor department,but I enjoy the aroma most.Did I mention I experienced no bite from this aromatic?Great all day, any day,inexpensive smoke.

1Q is a very nice blend. I have been smoking it off & on for years. P&C's 1Q blend is smoother than some 1Q blends I've smoked in the past & has a unique taste that I enjoy very much.

After many many years of smoking non aromatics I recently have decided to take a journey through the aromatic world to have some fun. This blend is like it used to be to my palate, which is a surprise since many have changed so much they don't resemble the original. Lovely room note that will get compliments and a tasty, mellow smoke that doesn't want to bite ya like a crocodile. Easy light, burn cleanly to the bottom, and not wet. Smooooth.

Just picked up pike smoking recently and bought this tobacco. It's smooth and has a touch of sweetness to it! Good stuff!

With my first order at P&S I bought a nice bent Cassano pipe. Then I armed this beauty with 1-Q and was slowly smoking about a week. It made me happier and wiser than I am (LOL). 1-Q is smooth, no biting, tasty discovery! Now I have a "new" brand - Cassano 1-Q. Do you guys need any other words?

This product is really the base of any mixture,which I always make with two other tobaccos. The mixture would be a failure without Lane 1Q.

I just got through my 'sampler' selection from my local tobacconist (RLP6, MB Very Cherry, MB Black Truffle, CB Gold, CB White and 1Q) and this one was by far my favourite. Tastes similar to the way it smells, stays lit, not too wet. I smoked it as fast as I could and didn't get bitten. Great room note, and you can find it easily.

I've been smoking Capt. Black Gold for years now. Recently read all the good reviews of 1Q and ordered 4 oz from Pipes and Cigars. Just finished two bowls of 1Q and I love it. Not as sweet as the Gold but mellow and burns very well with lots of white smoke with no burn. Will be ordering more.

Good everyday smoke. Mild, no bite, and good room aroma. It is very simular to Captain Black, but not as moist. Other simular tobacco is the old Dunhill 210000, I think right number, and Boswell's best.

I do smoke others sometimes but this is my go to.

I have been smoking 1-Q now for 24 years, although up until last year it was called Sunset from a local pipe store in Augusta. I enjoy the mild flavor and aroma, and receive a lot of compliments on it even from the non-smoking crowd, which says a lot.

I have smoked pipes for 60 years now. I have smoked many kinds of tobacco, Virginia, laced with Perique or Latikea or whatever. 1-Q is mild, easy on the tongue and has a nice aroma. Some have said 'You smoke 1-Q = why?"

The answer is that I smoke what I like. I like Butternut Burley for example, so I smoke it. Too many pipesters judges what you should smoke by what they smoke. So I say, smoke what you like and pay no attention to those who criticize your tastes. If you don't like 1-Q then don't smoke it. If you do like it, as I do, enjoy it!

For the last 30 years or so I have had as my regular tobacco as a black aromatic I got from a company with the initials of E.A.C. After reading all the reviews about this 1Q, I had to give it a try. The stuff is good. I guess I have a new regular! May not smell as nice as the other, but it has less bite and is smoother.

I regularly smoke a very high quality english blend, but my bride has asked me to find something a little more pleasant for her nose. After trying many aromatics, I found 1Q. it achieves the seemingly unachievable - that being a nice tasting tobacco that smells good to the wife.

1-Q is a old friend. I have used 1-Q for close to 20yrs and still my go to tobacco. Everyone enjoys the aroma and I love the taste. I have had people I don't know come up and compliment me on the aroma. Granted this is hard to get from most this close to the Mayo Clinic. Even the parks are closed to smokers.

When I first opened the bag it smelled wonderful. I can't pin point exactly what the smell is, but it smells like sweet vanilla or perhaps homemade vanilla taffy. The smell while smoking it is equally as wonderful. It was a smell I recognized very well and I finally realized it smells like Smarties candies I used to eat all the time. Sort of assorted fruity candy. Very very similar to the smell of Smarties. The taste is mild and delicious with hints of Smarties flavor as well. The smoke is cool. Little bite. Great tobacco, will be keeping it stocked for a long time.

I really can't add much to what others have already said. 1Q is my standard tobacco - it always tastes good and smokes well, regardless of the pipe, the weather, or my mood!

I had a old timer tell me a long time ago when I started smoking pipes that Lane crafted this mixture for President Eisenhower. He said Lane named it 1Q because if you read it fast it would sound like "Ike". Probably just another colorful pipe story with no merit but you never know!! This is a pipe mixture that has at one time or another been in just about every smoke shop in America. It is a good everyday blend that smells good and is gentle on the tongue. It is an American Classic.

I have smoked vanilla blends for years but wanted to experiment a bit with this popular blend. It is a smooth smoke but I didn't find it as flavorful as my regular tobacco. I mixed it 50/50 with a vanilla cavendish and got a good flavor without a lot of bite. My opinion is its good for blends as a base but needs the extra flavor of a vanilla blend.

I totally agree with Old Goat. 1Q has been my smoke since the early 70s. Everything else I've tried to smoke makes the tip of my tongue feel like I'm smokin' a propane torch.

where i bought my tobacco went out of business. i talked to them at pipes and cigars about a replacement for the blend that i had been smoking.they recommended 1Q. it is far better than a similar tobacco that i had been smoking. great people and great tobacco there.

I've been hand rolling this tobacco since they doubled the price of loose cigarette tobacco over a year and a half ago. Fantastic taste and almost everyone compliments the vanilla-smelling aroma. This even beats my old favorite, the original Drum.

Has been my first choice pipe tobacco for years. This last pound I bought had a bit more stem (which happens on occasion), but more concerning is the hint of ammonia which is something I would expect from drug store tobacco.

This is my 1st choice pipe tobacco. I smoke it everyday. I keep several different blends on hand for different occasion and times but 1Q is by for my favorite. It is a mild, even burning, tasteful tobacco that doesn't make your tongue feel like it is about to peel. Is also has a very pleasant smell. I get pleasant comments from men and women.

I made my purchase based on the other reviews. The 1Q is OK but the McClelland TQ has a better flavor and is milder.

I tried 1Q about a year ago, and instantly became my favorite go to tobacco. It has a mild, no bite smoke which I like. A light sweet aroma in the room that the family enjoys to be around. I commonly also use 1Q as a base to mix other aromatics with. I mix it 2 parts 1Q and 1 part Black Vanilla Cavendish most the time, which is a very pleasant blend. I also started blending it with Dark Chocolate, as well as Chocolate Supreme with very favorable comments from people nearby. Very pleasant room aromas.

You guys should buy this tobacco. L-1Q is going to show What is piping.

This is a lovely tobacco. It's smells wonderful and has a pleasant sweetness, which lingers in a room after a smoke.

This was recommended to me on the basis that the 1Q has a vanilla flavour. Although the vanilla essence is present, it is disappointingly faint.

I would recommend this tobacco to almost anyone. assuming they are not expecting a vanilla flavoured smoke.

I've been smoking 1Q for 30 years, and it is still my favorie. No bite and great aroma, compliments on the smell all the time.

This is a classic cavendish that never disappoints, and the room-note is always a crowd pleaser. It has the trademark Lane not quite chocolate, not quite vanilla "whang" to it.

Opinions vary if this is Captain Black Royal (blue label) or not. I think it is. Age must account for the variance of descriptions you find out there. After about five years, the black cavendish in it gets a lot more woodsier and chocolatey. Buy a couple pounds and let them sit a couple years -- see if I'm wrong.

Hints of vanilla and something else i cant put my finger on geart all day smoke. This blend is one i keep in rotation an is good with a hot cup of joe i always have this in bulk

This is a mellow smoke at any time of the day. I switch between Lane 1Q and After Hours, love em both. I no longer shop for best prices, you just can't beat these guys for super service.

I guess the perfect pipe tobacco is all a matter of taste. Well...I would rather not smoke at all if I didn't have my 1Q. A matter of taste, you bet...the best pipe tobacco on the planet!!!

Lane's 1Q sample was sent to me by the good folk at Pipes & Cigars after I asked them to recommend a pipe tobacco that was a mild aromatic, with cool smoking qualities and good room note.
I have tried quite a few blends from P&C and I've enjoyed the various styles, but Lane's 1Q is my favorite standard choice and miles better than any of the rubbish that is for sale in Australia (which might be why we have so few pipe smokers here). Sadly it is not available in Australia, where pipe tobacco is at least 7-10 times the cost of tobacco in the USA and very expensive to bring in by mail to Oz.

Mild, Mellow and Sweet. When I was younger, I tried them all.....but when my career sent me all across the USA and Canada.....I settled on 1-Q because I liked it, and it was available most anywhere I would travel.

I have been smoking Captain Black a a while now and would say that 1Q is most similar to the Captain Black (Gold) in smell and flavor, but with NO tongue bite. Very smooth and easy on the tongue, and smells GREAT!!! A true classic!!!

I smoked Captain Black Gold for years until I was introduced to 1Q. It's pleasing to me and particularly to everyone around me. I get frequent nice comments about the aroma. Probably won't ever smoke anything else!

I've been pipe smokin' since the mid '60s and although I occasionally venture off my regular path for smoking satisfaction, just to see if I'm still correct dont'cha know..... There is NO SMOKE like 1Q..... for anyone within sniffin' range.

Been pipe smoking for 36 years, of which 25 were 1Q. I love this smoke, and plan on using 1Q until my last day on this earth! There is a reason it is so popular. It's just that good, no bite, and smokes cool, a little extra bowl cleaning, but hey it's worth it.

Almost exclusively toasted local bulk blends up to the present. Then an ol' timer recommended I get my hands on some of this Lane 1Q and give it a whirl. After a few bowls of this wonderful stuff, I believe I could smoke this, and this only, for the rest of my years on this rock and die a happy piper. It's gotta have something in it that causes one's saliva glands to be overworked at the very thought of it. Imma be mixin' some of this in my biscuits for breakfast!
