The first true aromatic in the Hearth and Home series. Although the aroma is complex, pleasant and mildly sweet, the spice flavorings come through more prominently in the smoking. A bite-free blend that will please anyone in the room.
“I have to admit I bought this for the egg nog, oops I was wrong, did not smell or taste anything like egg nog but did smell nice and really no bite,i would buy this again around the holidays.”
“This was pretty nice. Extremely mellow and smooth, though I have to say it was a bit TOO mellow for me. I was expecting it to actually taste like egg nog, which, it did, but it was so subtle as if it wasn't really there, though it had a hint of sweetness. Overall it's nice and sweet, but not very flavorful at the same time. It's worth trying, but if you really like egg nog and that's the flavor you're expecting, you might be disappointed.”
“As a general rule, I usually don't buy blends named after foods. It's been my experience that most blenders try too hard to make it smell and maybe even taste like the name, but you end up smoking something that smells like a burning tire. I'm an aromatics fan, but don't care for heavily topped or cased blends, fruit flavors and so on. I prefer good vanilla or light spices. So I almost didn't buy this one. Glad I changed my mind!
Really not sure where the egg nog itself comes in, and I'm not getting a holiday vibe from it. But this is an outstanding blend! The rum and vanilla are evident at the tin, with just a hint of nutmeg. I couldn't detect much cinnamon.
At the match, it is nicely aromatic, evenly cased and the toppings are applied with a fairly light hand giving this blend a very pleasant and friendly aroma and flavor with no bite, and no overpowering sweetness. A good all-day smoke that burns to a clean, fine ash. A real winner! Will definitely keep this in my rotation!”
“As a rule I am not very fond of aromatics. That said there are a few which have worked their way into my cellar. H&H Egg Nog is one.
I received a sample of this at the 2013 Richmond show and gave it a try. I was immediately taken back to the old pipe tobacco shop I used to pass in the mall when I was a kid! The taste and room note are very old fashioned and braught back delightful memories of long forgotten, and deceased, mentors and neighbors.
The subtle tastes of whiskey, nutmeg, cinnamon, and egg nog combine in this to make it an excellent winters evening smoke. I am told that the room note is awesome as well. In my experience, it is best enjoyed from a churchwarden, while sitting in my lazy boy and sipping a scotch before retiring for the evening. Listening to some smooth jazz or easy listening on the radio. But hey, that is just me.”
