Have always liked this. Was angry when CVS stopped selling tobacco. Glad I found this website

I purchased this tobacco because it was recommended by a gentleman on YouTube. I have used many of the popular brands and in my opinion this admirals choice is as good if not better than all I've tried. The taste to me is a chocolate and vanilla, and it has a nice room note. It seems to burn well if packed lightly. This was my first order from pipes and cigars and I received my package quickly. Highly recommend. Danny D.

I smoke this to step in for the Captain Black regular I usually smoke! Has a pleasant room note as well.

For the price point it is an exceptionally fine tobacco. Smooth toasty.

Fav’ tobacco of a lifetime of pipe smoking.

I have smoked it for years, but I do now add some of your chocolate supreme for some flavor.

I will be buying two more Big Pots soon. Thanking You in advance.

Nice and smooth smoking.

Very wet and long strings with many stems. Does mix well with a dryer flake type such as Virginia Gold. Mixing the two seems to burn more even.

Inexpensive aromatic for smoking in a corncob when my usual Balkan mix would be...inappropriate, or so I am told. I'll buy it again. It's mild, smokes fine and leaves a relatively clean pipe. My wife tells me it reminds her of her father, so you get the idea.

Liked it a lot but tried Virginia Gold and thought it had a better aroma and flavor.
Both are good choices. Being retired, prices are a reason for shopping for value.

A pleasing, light smoke. Smooth cinnamon and berry-like flavors.

For the money, this is an awesome daily smoke. I’m glad I gave it a try

good tobacco period !!!!

Very smooth and sweet tobacco. Doesn't burn hot, and the cut lets it burn consistantly and without need to relight more than once maybe.
The reason for only four stars is because it's so moist that it *MUST* be put out to dry out before one can use it at all. I mean this stuff is really, really moist! lol

Excellent smoke

Mild vanilla flavor. Somewhat moist. Does not pack well due to the very long cut of the tobacco.

I've only been smoking pipes for about a year and along with several tins that I ordered to try, I put this in the cart. It was the best of the bunch - even against more established brands. Very nice flavor, but also doesnt get too hot or smokey.

So easy to order and have never had a problem.

reasonable tobac and a reasonable price

It was a fresh nicely cut tobacco. The has a mild smoke and pleasing aroma. There is very little burn to the tongue or palet. A tobacco one can smoke often.

I ordered AC B&G mostly because of the price. I wanted to see if an inexpensive tobacco can be any good. Well, Lane 1Q it ain't. What it is is a nice smoking tobacco for a great price. The vanilla hits you like a ton of bricks upon opening the bag. Sweet smelling, and it's got enough PG to keep it moist till the turn of the next century. No tongue bite with slow and careful puffing. Room note seems acceptable. There are more expensive tobaccos that have similar negatives, but why pay more when you don't have to? I was undecided between giving this a three or four star rating. I settled on four star as I'm halfway through the first bowl of this new arrival and it's actually getting better. It'd probably ghost the heck out of any pipe it's used in, so be mindful.

This is a very nice mellow flavored smoke,,not heavy in the sweetness dept.burns well,,no bite(so far,,after 1/3 of the bag smoked).a nice room aroma and nice flavor.i like this better then the A.C. van cavendish.a good tobacco for beginners or the smoker who likes a mellow aromatic once in awhile.im glad i decided to try this one.

It's Pipe Smoke ,Little to No Discernible flavor to distinguish it,You might use it stretch your Good stuff when running Low if that is tolerable until your next order arrives.

Got this blend for my dad for Christmas. He absolutely loved it. Will definitely buy again.

Enjoyed as a first time/beginner pipe smoker. Reminds me of the flavor/taste of smoking a black and mild cigar.

Mild, with a mellow hint of sweet. It only bites if you smoke too fast.

As expected, top quality.

absolutely the best smoking black Cavendish I have ever purchased! The quality and price are unmatchable by anyone. If you like a mild, smooth tobacco, this is it!

I am a big fan of all the Admiral's Choice tobacco blends. There are better blends, but for the price you pay, nothing beats Admiral;s Choice. As for the Black &Gold Cavendish specifically: of their blends, it is the richest and strongest. Like all their blends, it is also smooth and never causes tongue-bite.

I've tried a lot of pipe tobacco but this is the one that stands out.

OK for a value-priced tobacco but certainly not high on my list. It burns quickly and leaves an unpleasant aftertaste. It doesn't like to be packed tightly, either

I just received my order , and quickly too! It seems to me you can't find a much better smoke than this. I smoke many different types and flavors but I always come back to this one. No, bite, wonderful on the nose and burns great right out of the bag. I personally like a bit more black cavendish blended with it, but that's just my taste. So whether you smoke it just like it comes or mix with your favorite blend, I know you'll find a great smoke. Thanks again P & C.

I have smoked the B&G Cavendish for years and was elated to find it online a couple of years ago after CVS stopped selling it. Thanks!!!

This is a excellent budget smoke. Its mild, fairly smooth, and fairly cool burning. It remind me of a mild 1Q. I keep this tobacco around always as a backup between orders of my premium tobacco. Its a excellent backup or a knock around smoke.

Very good cheap tobacco

It's been my favorite for years. The store I bought it from quit selling it. I was glad to see you all started selling it.

OK pipe tobacco. Slightly moist. I wish they would list one more category. Whether a tobacco is moist or dry. This one is slightly moist. The reason is a dry tobaccos BURN TOO HOT and ruined many of my pipes. They burn fast too and have a BAD tongue bite.
Looking for tobacco that is moist and flavored only now. This one didn't burn too hot or have a nasty tongue bit. The aroma was OK.

For ten bucks you get 8ozs for a tasty,no frills pleasant smoke. The blend lights easy, and smokes sweet.I like the re sealable bag also. You can't beat it,what more can you ask for?

A very enjoyable value tobacco that can be smoked all day without tongue bite. Nice aroma and room note. My everyday favorite value pipe tobacco at a great price.

Black and Gold generates clouds of sweet, pleasant smoke. By itself, it is mild but not very flavorful. I blend in judicious amounts of Latakia, cigar leaf, and/or Perique. The result is a great, complex smoke with low bit that stays lit.

I decided to give this one a test drive since I'm a Captain Black Royal/Lane 1Q man and was pleasantly surprised by this mix. It's a pinch sweeter in taste to CBR/1Q and I absolutely love it. Less of the raisin aroma of 1Q and more of the sugary/confection variety of sMell ftom the bag and bowl. Just take your time with it so you don't get it too hot and get tongue bite and this will be so satisfying. Even though it's an aromatic, the goopiness at the bottom of the bowl, characteristic of these blends, is almost non existent, I was shocked. Optimal if tobacco is left to dry a bit before smoking, but great either way. Beautiful ash layer. I've been reaching for this more and more lately, and since it's less than half the price of CBR, this will be a new favorite of mine from now on. If your blend of choice is 1Q/CBR, this is a must try.

Black and Gold has a sweet and savory flavor that keeps me wanting more even at the wee hours of the morning. It's so flavorful in fact, that the only time I won't smoke it is in the case of eating or drinking something with too subtle a flavor that I can't taste both! I'll definitely be buying again.

I'm shocked. Great smoke at a bargain price. A bit more umph would make it perfect IMO.

I just enjoy the vanilla kind more

When I first sampled Black & Gold, I was a little disappointed. It was much more 'aromatic' than I like. However, after several bowlfuls, I find my opinion changing. Also, the aromatic aspect tends to diminish further down the bowl. I now find that I am reaching for it more often. I am looking forward to trying the Natural Cavendish as a comparison.

The second time i ordered this it was nasty, unlike the 1st time I ordered it. So the inconsistancy is a mystery. It got bitter and stinky the deeper i we t into the 2nd bag. So you take your chance with ordering this cause there is a problem with quality control or the type tobacco is not consistant from one bag to the next. The two weren't even close !

Excellent Aroma and Taste ! A superb value for the money...Believe me!

I have been a pipe smoker for about 40 years. There was a tobacco that I loved named black and gold Cavendish. It had a great aroma no tongue bite and I could smoke all day. It was carried by CVS drug stores. Well they stop caring all tobacco products so I went in search or replacement. Most tobaccos I smoke or aromatic and a blend of Virginia and barley. I always seem to get terrible tongue bite I actually gave up the hobby for a long while. But when I saw the name black and gold I said let me give it a try. It is the exact tobacco I used to smoke. I am so happy that I found it again

This is incredibly tasty and delicious with an incredibly earthy flavour. Must try!

The shipping was fast and everything arrived just as ordered. We got the catalog in the mail and my husband enjoyed picking out what he wanted from that catalog. He is old fashion and knows little about the internet so I helped him put in his order. The actual paper catalog was great though. He probably would not have ordered without it. He is now going to order all his pipe tobacco from you guys. Thank you for making an old man's day!

This tobacco is a wonderful mixture of taste and smoke. I dare anyone to find a better smoke for the price. And people tell me it smell's delicious. This is my second order of this brand and it really is better the longer you smoke it. It seems to keep the flavor all the way to the bottom of the bowl. It's a bit damp, so a few hours drying should improve it for you , but I don't mind a relight or two. Thanks guys!

This tobacco has a rich, nutty flavor and aroma. A nice change of pace from the CB Royal and Lane 1Q that I normally smoke. It burns a little hot so I blended 30% 1Q with it and soon discovered I had created another personal favorite.

I'm a causal pipe smoker (a few times a week, mostly on weekends) and have been looking for the perfect blend for a long time. When I first started smoking, there was a local bulk blend that was great, but for some reason it got discontinued. Since then I've bought several others and have always been a bit disappointed. But then I found Admiral's Choice Black & Gold. This is the perfect blend for my palate: not too sweet or bold, and no bite. It is smooth and enjoyable for the entire bowl. Do try this wonderful blend; I highly recommend it.

Very sweet taste and excellent aroma. Won't bite your tongue either. The price of this very tasty tobacco is absolutely FANTASTIC! Virginia Gold and Black Cavendish is a Great combination of blends. I smoke it daily. Buy a pound. You won't regret it!

I start to smoke pipe tobacco 2 months ago. My first tobacco was Virginia and Burley. This is my first Cavendish tobacco I try and I can said the difference in flavor and aroma is really noticeable.
The Admiral's Choice Black & Gold Cavendish seems to be a good tobacco. I can't make any comparison until now but I read about many others products with excellent reviews who let me think there is more and better choices. But this one is my first experience and I'm not disappointed. This s good tobacco at an excellent price.

Enjoyed this tobacco very much , a light smoke, not too moist, had no trouble keeping it lit. Looking forward to trying the Vanilla also. Will purchase more of this in the future, is a good all day smoker and the ladies like the aroma too.

I've smoked this tobacco for many years. It's a value priced tobacco that gives a satisfying smoke all day without a bite. It smokes best when allowed to dry out for a few days. Not a connoisseur's tobacco for sure but enjoyable none the less. This was my first order from P & C and was impressed with the way they handled the order....efficiently with excellent communications, packaged well and shipped fast. My new go-to tobacconist!

Admiral's Choice Tobacco is the best mass-marketed tobacco. The price is great, and the quality is far superior to any of it's competitors. As for Pipes and Cigars, I now have ordered from them three times and am very pleased with the quick and easy service, and I have had NO problems recieving the orders accurately and promptly.

A descent smoke and the price is good. It's not top-of -the line but more than adequate for everyday puffing. I find it best to let it dry out for a day or two before use.
