Ascorti pipes are world renowned pipes that have made smokers and collectors happy for decades. Started by Giuseppe Ascorti in the late 1970’s after he left the company he cofounded, Caminetto. Giuseppe’s son Roberto soon joined his father and they never looked back. Every Ascorti pipe is made from the finest Italian briar and all mouthpieces are handmade. Today, Roberto still runs the company and has a hand in the manufacture of all Ascorti pipes.
The texture of this pipe in the hand is superb and since the walls of the bowl are quite thin it dispenses heat very well. The chamber is quite large making for a long smoke. Sipping is highly recommended when smoking this pipe because steady puffing can dispense sufficient heat to make it uncomfortable to hold. The thin bowl walls are probably the primary reason for this aspect. So if you like to hold rather than clench you need to sip. However if you are a clencher the thin bowl walls are not a problem heat wise and make the pipe light enough to clench without causing an ache in your jaw. All in all this is one of my favorite pipes for a lengthy smoke while reading a good book. if you decide to get one I am confident you will be pleased with your purchase.
