Rainy Day by Ashton may be one of the most sophisticated aromatic blends available. Fine Virginias, soft Burleys and gentle black Cavendish are slowly matured together in whiskey barrels. After the tobaccos have married, essences of island fruits and a pleasant nutty flavor round out the gentle taste and aroma of this outstanding Ashton tobacco blend. The thin ribbon cut makes Rainy Day pipe tobacco easy to pack, stuff, tamp and light. A smooth blend, this Ashton tobacco will please your palate and deliver a warming and relaxing experience on any rainy day.
I was very pleased with it. I will most definitely be stocking up on the pipe tobacco. The flavor was very pleasant and the aroma is great.

Better than I thought it would be based on the initial tin aroma. The aroma from the tin for whatever weird reason reminded me of Copenhagen Long Cut. I used to dip Copenhagen for quite a while, until I quit cold turkey. The smell never used to bug me and I would crave a dip after smelling a open can nearby. However, over the past couple of years the smell disgusts me now and that is what hit me when I opened this can. I tried it and was amazed at the good flavor and lack of bite. Most importantly my wife who is sensitive to smoke, really enjoys the smell of this tobacco as it burns.

Best tin note and room note combination I’ve ever found in a pipe tobacco.

Smooth smoking blend. Not for rainy days only. This is my second tin and I'm just beginning to appreciate the depth of taste that runs throughout this fine slightly nutty mix. Great blend of cavendish, virginia and burley.
Good afternoon blend, just a little pepper, burns kind of hot in the pipe.

Nothing special.

I bought this because I always enjoyed Ashton cigars, and also because orange is my favorite color, and I like the rain. Sounds like it should be a winner, right?
Eh, not really.
First, the floral scent right out of the tin is so powerful and artificial smelling that it reminds me strongly of conditioner.
I found the flavor uninteresting and bland.
One redeeming feature: I tried mixing this with equal parts of Dunhill Nightcap for a blend I called "Rainy Night." Basically makes a weaker Nightcap with some of the pleasant (subdued) floral notes.

Smooth

To me and my taste buds. It's a smooth mellow puffer, I get the hint
of Cav. and fruity taste. But I am a Areo smoker. I will order it again,
I would recommend it to anyone who likes who wants a all day smoke.

Pretty good by itself, but blend equal parts Rainy Day and Dunhill Nightcap and you get "Rainy Night!" You're welcome.

Glad I Tried It

Wonderful strong berry smell from the tin. Subtle black cherry and orange notes. Harsh/unpleasant tobacco flavor - more so through the nostrils. Almost like a cigarette. It's a shame the harshness overpowers the good things this aromatic does have going for it.

A well balanced approach to aeromatic style tobaccos.
Ashton Rainy Day is a surprisingly bright smoke that provides both good tobacco flavour and appropriate flvour enhancement. Just like a Rainy Day it may start off with just a sprinkle of what is to come; a bit underwhelming at first but give it a few days and some air and the flavour really comes out in this tobacco. Even my non-aero friend complimented it several times.
These are quality tobaccos given plenty of flavor with a careful hand so as not to be overwhelming and definitely not gooey. I feel the flavoring compliments and enhances the tobaccos rather than eclipsing them.

when you open the tin it smells heavy of fruit, flowers.. it was a little moist out of tin (as most usually are) .. tobacco is a nice mix and cut, not goopy or oily.. from a cob, you can definitely taste the fruit (papaya, mango or something like that) when freight training it.. when sipping it you get the nutty whiskey notes.. there is always a slight underlying bite maybe bitter taste (at least for me) i assume from the burley .. the room note is nice .. it smokes a little more than mild .. overall it's a nice smoke and i'm glad to have tried it, i probably wont buy it again (not because it's bad) because there are too many others to try .. if someone gave me a tin i would keep it and smoke it..
