I am very new to pipe tobacco, and having bought around $400 in various samplers, tins and ounces; I can without a doubt say, I found a winner here.
This, when rubbed out, and left to dry for a few moments (the perfect moment to take some time to make tea, or pour a whiskey) pack a nice pipe full, and smoke it up. Gorgeous. I absolutely love it. It burns so well, even for a new guy like myself, it smells and smokes great.
This will absolutely be a standby in my tobacco collection, and I would highly encourage you to give it a shot.

Between this blend and, S.G. Handsome flake, I feel like I learned a lot and not to judge blends too much. I got this, expecting or at least hoped to get a, De lux navy rolls knock off. Something close but not the same for less cost. I was completely surprised when this 100%had its own identity. Very earthy and almost dirty tasting, I was confused and didn’t really like it. I kept smoking the tin and it definitely grew on me. The earthy/dirty/grassy-Virginia mixed very well with a mild sweet-spice. This thought me that I don’t want my VaPers to all taste the same and to not be mad because they don’t. Sometimes things are different... and there’s nothing wrong with different 👍

A new take on an old idea. I enjoy flake tobacco and thought this one particularly smooth. As far as I am concerned a tobacco to enjoy a couple of time a week.

Just not one of my go to smokes. Too many out there just like it. Would not buy again. Will stick with sutliff privates.

A well-rounded sophisticated blend from start to finish and every bit as good as (if not better than) Dunhill, Escudo, and Stokkebyes Bulls Eye Flake. All of which, are great.. but, Davidoff FM's seem to stand out, somehow. Just try it or shut up! Its good!

there are better and there are worse;depends upon individual's taste.

With the tragic withdrawal of McClelland from the field of the best tobacconists, I searched for a suitable replacement. This has taken quite a while. Finally, By mixing some Davidoff Flake Medallions with Borkum Riff whiskey tobacco (widely available) in an approximate and variable 50/50 blend, I got fairly close. Perhaps not quite there, and I am still experimenting; but it’s better than the other blends I have tried. I am pretty sure that if I do find a superior replacement for McClelland Matured Virginia #22, some Davidoff flake will be in it.
If anyone has found a better way, I’d love to hear about it. P&C take note.

I began smoking Davidoff Flake Medallions more than 10 years ago. This pressed combination of Virginia and Perique tobaccos is a perfect combination for my “go to” everyday smoke. I highly recommend it!

THIS IS IT!
I am on my second pipe of Davidoff Flake Medallions and I am convinced this is the one for me: High-quality tobaccos blended smoothly, then pressed and sliced into coins to improve the meld and keep it moist longer.
In 50+ years I have run the gamut from starters to exclusives, including tobaccos mixed for me by master blenders; This is the best Virginia- Perique blend I have tasted.
I really like Stokkebye's Deluxe Twist and this costs three ties as much... However, Life is short, so I'll smoke the best.
My congratulations to Davidoff for developing this.
Now if they will only offer this in bulk.

Tangy, a little sweet but not too sweet, with a great overlay of spice from the core. Absolutely a must buy.

This is one of my favorite va per blends. Just the right amount of cavendish added tops of this mellow flavor. Just rub down the unique medallions and you are ready to go. This is a good creamy smoke, one of my favorites .

looking for a substitute for the above, which is no longer available. Davidoff Flake Medasllions isn't it.

Nice n moist, great aroma, smoke smooth.

Looks great, smells great, tastes great! I like the VaPer mixed with cavendish, gives it a little more sweetness. I like to fold and mash a little before stuffing into the bowl. Not quite rubbed out, but not just fold and stuff. Still trying to figure out if I like this or P.S. Luxury Bulls Eye.

One of my favorites

This is my favorite of the various Cavendish/Perique/Virginia spun tobacco blends that I've tried. To me the flavor is richer and more varied than Stokkebye's LBF or Comoy's Cask No 7. Of course it's priced a lot higher too. The tin aroma reminds me of rich home-baked raisin bread. The flavor reminds me of Escudo, but tastes more natural to me. There's more perique flavor in here than in others of its type - it starts out more on the fruity side, but the spiciness builds, in fact the whole blend of flavors builds as the bowl goes on. It's got the right amount of sweetness and nice balanced Va flavor. If you like LBF or Cask No 7, try a tin of this for a treat. It's not an everyday smoke for me (mainly because of the cost), but it sure is good.
Update: After looking up the tin code for Davidoff (YYhhMMmmDD) I've found I've been enjoying tobacco that was already aged over 2 years in the tin before I bought it. I don't know if this is typical, but it may explain the great flavor of this batch.

For a good decade, Escudo was a favorite. This has quickly replaced it. Truthfully, had I known, I'd have opted for DFM from the start: first crack O the tin, light, note, etc. this is now my 6 star favorite. I know, I know. Rediculous. I don't use the term love for anything other than loved ones. Well, here I break that and say: Davidoff Flake Medallions: oh how I love thee! Absolutely marvelous. 5 stars because they ain't no 6...unfortunately.

I bought this for one of my sons and he tells me it is quite good.

I've been smoking pipes casually for about two years now, so I'm hardly a Hardcore connoisseur of tobaccos, but I've tried a decent variety. Thus far, the only one I find myself coming back to is Escudo. I decided to try this one as it has a similar composition, and I thought the Cavendish would ramp up the fruity sweetness of the perique, which is what I want more of in Escudo. However, while this is a good tobacco, it didn't really wow me like I thought it would. I don't find that the Cavendish core really comes through that much, and so I didn't really think it did much, if anything, to add to the sweetness of the perique. If anything it kind of detracts from it. So I would recommend giving this blend a try, but my personal search for the perfect blend is still ongoing, and I'm running dangerously low on escudo. This one may grow on me as my palate develops and the more I inevitably smoke of it as I ration my escudo, as I'm not likely to buy more anytime soon as I have like 10 tins to go through of other things I've bought to try.

Excellent tobac - excellent smoke - highly recommended.

This is a pure luxury; it smokes very slowly and cool, even the bowls stays relatively cool.
The taste is something special with some shots of sweetness, probably from cavendish.
I plan to get some high end pipe like Savinelli Autograph or Dunhill and designate it to this blend.
Typical outstanding Davidoff product like their cigars!

If you can appreciate nice Virginias I highly encourage you to give this tobacco a shot. The coins are cut very thinly and rub easily and you can either keep the cavendish core whole for a nice surprise or break it down as well. Either way, the moisture content was ideal and the blend stays lit nicely with little movement when lighting. As with all Virginias, it can burn hot so the key is to smoke it cool and sip very lightly. In my oom paul with a deep bowl, the sweetness of the cavendish really paired nicely with the grassy, hay taste. But in the calabash, the sweetness and lemony citrus flavor of the Virginias was released and paired beautifully with a creamy, almost root beerish flavor of the black cavendish. And yes, I did poke out a few of the cavendish cores and had them on their own, don't ask why. Under the right circumstances, this can be a very complex blend and IMO this combination works better than the VA/Dark-fired Kentucky blend of the Newminster 403 coins. Overall, it's a top-notch smoke and I heartily recommend it. Hats off to Davidoff!

Davidoff Flake Medallions are rumored to be identical to Peter Stokkebye's Luxury Bullseye Flake. The key difference, allegedly, is that DFM is aged in the tin, and LBF isn't. Assuming this is true -- and my personal smoking experience with both blends has convinced me that it is -- then buying a tin of DFM is sort of like pressing the fast forward button on some LBF and seeing what it's like when it has matured a bit.
And what a fantastic experience that is! LBF is one of my favorite tobaccos around, and these medallions are like the creme de la creme of LBF. They easily merit a five-star rating.

A top pick, all things considered, age it, smoke it, you cant go wrong on this one no mattter how you do it. What do you expect from one of the very top cigar mfg in the world? These guys have the expertise and tobacco contracts and resources as do several of the other top cigar mfgs, coins, age em, they will age and blend the best, as do cigars, its the nature of the construction.
Aging, ok maybe, smoke it, that the hot ticket. This one is good to go, now as so many of the top picks these days.

THEE best non-aromatic IMO. THIS is the one that waned me off of aromatics. I bought a tin, and blew through it in less than a week and ordered more (and about to order more again). Contrary to what some believe, I did not find this to be (nearly) the same as Stokkebye Luxury Bulls Eye Flake. This was so smooth and creamy, and the B.E.F. was harsh and unrefined in comparison. Right out of the tin, this tastes like B.E.F. that's been aged for a year. Really great stuff. But pricey, and goes quick. This could be my all day smoke. The only tobacco that I'd describe as elegant. The extra $$ equates to unparalleled quality. Worth the price.

Exceptional tobacco, just wish I could by a larger amount to then the 1.75 Oz tin.

great taste but let it dry out for a little or it's hard to stay lit. Little bit of spice but the cavandish center makes it very smooth.

I am sorry but when I got my order I started with Escudo Navy flake. However I truly enjoyed that one. Loved the flavor & the smell of the smoke.
