I enjoyed this blend , as I was looking for something with a decent amount of Nicotine. Five Brothers is smooth and bite free. Smokes well, with little dottle. The only drawback I found was it tends to burn quickly.

not a bad batch...a bit strong for newbies.

A new favorite!

I really liked this ! it has a good bit of spice and hits hard with vitamin N has a good tobacco flavor without any additional flavors packs fairly well only requiring a few relights a bit of tongue bite if you don’t pace yourself (you want to anyway this stuff has a kick) really the only con for me with this tobacco is I’d does seem to burn pretty fast. For the price I’d definitely buy again.

Like other reviewers, I will say, this tobacco has a big vitamin N content. Given. But, not as bad as some have said. Then again I was smoking it in a 20mm filter MYO configuration. It injects well as it comes a bit dry in the pouch. Taste-wise I don't agree about it being flat. To me it has a nice fruity finish. But, not artificial at all. A good smoke. I blended it with about an equal portiin of D&R Penhooker an THAT is the bomb. Just wish I could get it in a larger, more economical quantity!

Plenty of oomph, but not so rough that it hurts you.

Great flavor, cool smoke, wife likes the room note.

A very strong tobacco, good for mixing or for smoking alone, the kick is intense....so be prepared!

Definitely not for a novice. Even for the experienced pipe smoker; sit down before you lite this up.

Five Brothers Pipe Tobacco is distinctly enjoyable and a great value, although it burns mighty fast. Why not change the cut to "ribbon" instead of "shag"? Regardless, it's a regular purchase from now on. Very recommendable. No regrets.

Perfect for roll-your-own tube machines, pretty strong, but can be cut with 3 sails. Great taste either way.

Well, heard about it, read about it, tried it. This is my Friday night pouch. When I go out and need a tag along it seems to make me feel like Ive got a good strout smoke. Flavor wise.. not my every day.

Recently I've really liked no nonsense shag cuts. This works beautifully.

My family has been smoking this brand for four generation, good strong smoke.

This is a simple blend that packs a punch. Not something I would or will smoke on a regular basis. I will keep some on hand for when I need that quick nic hit.

I love Five Brothers! IMHO, there is not a more serviceable pipe tobacco available. It is strong, but I have a decent tolerance for the vitamin N, so I like it this way. Five Brothers is what makes ordinary aromatics satisfying for me. I like to blend a good aromatic with a bit of this to give it some strength and to moderate the sweetness a little. I also like to pack a bowl of this stuff for a quick pipe when I don't have much time, or when I'm going to be letting it go out and relight over a long period of talking or working on something. It's also easy to grab a pouch and go when traveling. Nothing complex about it, just honest, practical, American-style tobacco. Straight burley. Nutty. Dry (like I like it). You'll either love or hate it, I imagine. I love it.

This is a great tobacco if you like Burley and don't mind a big nicotine hit. I don't get tongue bite and it's flavor is more complex than I thought it'd be. If you like nicotine or need a tobacco to help keep you awake then buy this.

This is one of my go-to smokes, along with Bayou Morning. Great in a pipe or hand rolled, but strong.

Really good stuff!

A bit on the strong side if smoked by itself, but not overly so. Mixes quite well with some milder tobaccos I have sitting around.
However, when you are looking for a quick smoke with some nicotine (and sometimes I do) I'll load up one of my smaller pipes with this alone and have at it.

It’s a strong, full bodied burley that burns great, if a little fast, and doesn’t bite. The flavor is spot on if you enjoy a surprisingly mellow but pure tobacco flavor with pleasant hints of nuttiness, it definitely doesn’t taste like cigarettes like some reviewers have said. Easily top 3.

Five Brothers is a good non flavored tobacco tasting tobacco. Not to harsh and does not bite my tongue.

Great tobacco. My go to smoke. Strong and I love it !

What is it? It’s not quite ryo baccy but it works like it. Plenty of “vitamin N” if that’s your thing. Not nearly as strong as Kendal dark, but then again, very few things are.

Straight burley and old fashioned satisfaction guaranteed. Smoke straight up or mix with one of your favorites just for a little fun.

22 years smoking cigs, started smoking pipes, got rid of the twigs. 2 months in haven't craved those sticks, I scratch the itch with this burley and a Bic. MM pipe all packed and ready, I hit it hard and burn it hot and then it's slow and steady. 10 minutes in my head is swimming, body is loose, relaxed,..... man I wish I wasn't driving. I carry on with deep breaths and coffee,...... Aww forget it. This review has gone too far. Lol! Yall getcha some of this good ol baccy. It's different than my regular smokes but it's just right for that nic hit and flavor of real tobacco when I don't want to get out the flakes or my regular rotation of the others I like. Forget the nic, it's just plain ol fun smoking this burley on the porch with a glass of sweet tea and enjoying life a little slower, even if it's only a 10 minute smoke. High five for Five Brothers.

My father used to talk about how strong Five Brothers was. He has been gone for 25 years now and I just decided to give it a try. I expected a pipe so hot you couldn't hold it and really bad tongue bite. What a surprise it was. It does not burn hot or bite my tongue. I really enjoy it.

Is good & strong. Blend with your favorite tobacco & it perfect

The taste, cut and strength of Five Brothers is similar to American Spirit cigarette tobacco - and for quite a bit less. It unfortunately suffers from a similar dryness. The first bowl I packed was an excellent morning smoke. I have since been blending this with other OTC brands to give them more punch, so the pouch has been open for over a week. It now has the same dryness and consistency of old cigarette tobacco, and though the taste is still good the smoke is a bit rough on its own. I will throw an orange peel into the next pouch I buy immediately after I open it, but for the price and quality Five Brothers is a great choice.

Bold taste. Burns rapidly. Not a rich tobacco taste. Right now one of the few bold tobaccos available.

Wow... I agree with most of the other reviews already posted. This is a no frills, strong tobacco good for mixing or smoking alone. I have only been smoking a pipe for about two months and found that I like the sweet aromatic blends. However, I was not finding the nicotine satisfaction I was looking for...enter Five Brothers...My pipe mentor gave me a pouch to try. I have used this blended with some of my OTC brands and smoked it alone...I believe I have found the key to what I have been missing. I would definitely recommend giving this one a try if you are just needing to kick your favorite blend up a notch.

The tobacco is great for what it is, a strong, no frills, straight-up burley tobacco. I first bought some about two years ago when I wanted something that has a lot of vitamin-N, and will be a nice easy smoke, and that's exactly what Five Brothers is. Nothing fancy, just a strong burley.
A shag cut, meaning very finely cut, it packs nice and burns down to a white ash pretty quickly. If I am in a hurry or in the middle of something and just want to get my tobacco fix this is a perfect tobacco for it. Simple works for this tobacco.

I Love this tobacco for Many reasons. First I smoke cigarettes. It is A PERFECT cigarette tobacco...it burns very slowly and has a rich, savory taste...BUT BEST of ALL IT IS STRONG
2 out of 5
The good...It burns well...The bad...very flat taste with no character, very similar to cigarette tobacco.

Five Brothers is much milder since it was acquired by a Swedish tobacco company. When it was American owned and packaged in a paper, it was so strong that I could only smoke it once or twice a day. Now I can smoke it all day. That being said, I still like the pure unadulterated tobacco taste and smell. I haven't found a tobacco that is close to it in strength,i.e., nicotine. I would be happier if it was closer to the original in flavor and bite.

Five Brothers is Harsh, Tongue bitey, and quite disgusting.

The texture is a cross between pencil shavings and course steel wool. The flavor reminds me of my first cigarette. So if you want to relive the experience of coughing, getting dizzy and ending up with a headache this stuff may be for you. Still for a quick smoke or a blending ingredient or for an experience that is unique you should give it a try.

Good strong all day smoke for the nicotine junky.

Damn this stuff is great and nutty. I have used this stuff for quite some time and it never ever fails. I do like to keep mine a little moist so I use Boveda packs in my 8 oz jar at all times just so it has that moist hay-like feel to it. It is a great blender as well and is very low maintenance and stays lit. If you haven't already tried this, you won't be disappointed.

I bought this tobacco from reading other posts and reviews. I was looking for a pipe tobacco equivalent to a strong maduro cigar. This is not the case. It's a very dry smoke, that lacks any body or flavor. It's very close to a cigarette tobacco.
I'm still searching for a pipe equivalent to a strong maduro cigar.

Great old style tobacco, with a helluva kick, from the nic hit! Heard stories about this blend, from my father, who told me about my grandfather getting dizzy from it. So I finally got myself some and tried it, got halfway down the bowl, and wazoo! Packs a good buzz!

I just mixed some Five Brothers with OHM Blue and created the Five Blues Brothers blend. Move over Russ, you may have met your greatest tobacconist match! Ha!
Seriously, it is a good mixture, and the fine folks at P & C always come through with fresh tobacco, delivered lightening fast!

This is great straight forward tobacco and not for novices. I enjoy it straight-up, and to mix with my Virgina flake tobaccos. Like everything else, it is sold at a very fair price by the good folks at P & C.

Five Brothers delivers! I had thought about buying some for a few years so decided to end my curiosity, and am glad I finally did! This is not a tobacco for the faint of heart, and can be used to add a little power to your other tobaccos. I add it with my cube cut tobacco and many of my beloved Virginia flakes---which I have re-named: for example, I have Five Orliks; Five Brothers and Half & Half Other Brothers; and Five Erinmore Brothers. So, when you get a wild hair why not give this a try? I know you'll like the price.

This is one burley powerhouse smoke!Smoke this one in a small bowl because that's all you need.Burns pretty quick, but still delivers that notable burley nutty taste. This one is an eye opener and get you going quickly. Even the pouch has an old time cowboy look to it,so you know what your getting here is a no nonsense straight burley.I like this one,and every burley fan should give this a try.Just hang on and treat it with respect!

Wow,that stuff is strong!...Smokes very smoky ,and smoke very smoky too, easy draw ,lights up from the spark and burns well, bowl not gets hot.i do smoke light roast and did not smoked more then 1/3 of the bowl of this as it bolder and stronger then my dunhill flakes about three times, someone would like it,i blended with frosty mint and store it,should work as english style in my opinion.it smoke in corn cub pipe just fine but when i did loaded up my prince shape it was strong and strong it this.Give it a try.

Good smoke but very dry. Burns quickly. Probably a better chewing tobacco.

WHOOOOO!!! This is the Nature Boy Rick flair of pipe tobacco... Nice pepper taste, a bit of tongue tingle with a WHOLE lot of nicotine. But easy to light slow to burn and does great to blend with other brands. Daniel US ARMY

Awesome , only for the most experienced smoker tho it will knock you to your feet if not careful

Had to put it through a small food processor to get it fine enough to mix with my regular blend. Added a welcome kick, but must admit it altered the flavor slightly. No big deal. Would buy again.

Its stout, but not as stout as others have made it out to be. I have smoked unprocessed burley from the barn and this is only half as strong in terms of strength. Flavorwise, it is very strong. It does not have the typical nutty taste of American style burley blends, but would probably appeal to the English and VAper fans in terms of taste.
3 out of 5
Wow - strong! As one YouTube reviewer noted, the pouch note is classically plain tobacco (like a pack of decent cigarettes), and the room note is... someone's smoking cigarettes. It's a bit harsh, tends to burn a bit hot (even with a slow, even draw), and can have a bit of tongue bite with no real way around it. It's dry as a bone right in the pouch, and takes a deceptively LARGE pinch or two to fill even a small bowl. It might make for a good mixing base with overly moist aromatics to balance both out. The nicotine hit is right in the front and unmistakable. Not my favorite by any means, but not awful, and certainly affordable.

Five Brothers burley is tobacco --simple, straight-forward, slightly nutty, straight-up burley tobacco. When I am not smoking a Turkish/ Virginia such as Peter Stokkebye 84 Turkish or McClelland Grand Orientals Classic Samsun, I smoking Five Brothers burley.
Five Brothers burley has a enough nicotine to satisfy even the heaviest nicotine junkie with a mild, nutty flavor that makes it a great all day smoke. The "fine ribbon cut" is a shag cut --I don't care what they say. I love enjoying Five Brothers as a cigarette because of it's simple, singular flavor. It can get monotonous when smoked in a medium or large sized pipe but this is a tobacco that I must always have around in abundance.

WOW! What a kick! Almost knocked me to the floor... This stuff is great very good old school burley in shag form.

This tobacco was great--exactly as advertised. It is simple and old-school, straight burley blend with a ton of nicotine punch to it. It comes quite dry, and burns quickly.

After reading Noah B's review gave it another try. After moistening it the harshness was gone but is still too strong for me. John B.

I enjoy this alone just fine. But makes a great blending baccy to add a little kick to any of my fav OTC blends. Works great with Granger, Velvet, SWR & PA if those seem a little too bland. Try it, I use normally 4-parts of any of those mentioned and 1-part Five Brothers.

I found this a decent tobacco tobacco for my pipe. It is not complex; but, it is tasty and strong enough. I wish it was sold in a pound bag or tin or box. The only tobacco I like MUCH better is Steamroller. Where are you, Streamroller? It seems to be gone from pipes and cigars.
5 out of 5
My advice is that you moisten it in a jar or a bag when you get it because people say its to harsh. Its only harsh cause its dry and once you moisten it it brings out the strong great tobacco smell it has. Thank you

Very strong and a bit harsh for this new smoker.
