The Hearth & Home Marquee series began in 2010 with the release of Magnum Opus, a Balkan-style blend that won instant acclaim. A year later, it was followed by BlackHouse, which won the 2011 Balkan Sobranie 759 Throwdown at the Chicagoland Pipe and Tobacciana Expo, so for 2012, Russ Ouellette prepared an homage to Balkan Sobranie Original Smoking Mixture called WhiteKnight, which became as popular as its predecessors. When Russ recently found that he had access to some 10-year-vintage Virginias, it made sense that a great way to celebrate WhiteKnight's 10th anniversary would be to switch out the regular Virginias for those aged tobaccos, and the result is Hearth & Home Marquee WhiteKnight 10th Anniversary.
The beauty of this approach is that WhiteKnight fans will find themselves with a familiar blend, but with a slightly deeper flavor and a bit more sweetness. Folks who just enjoy rich Balkan blends will also enjoy this unique, limited-edition tobacco as well. If you fall into either group, you'll want to get your hands on a few tins of this special blend because we expect this to sell out quickly.
I received this tin free as part of a promotion. Because it was free, I wasn't expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised to find WhiteKnight to be an high quality, inspiring blend. It's very well balanced, smooth, complex, and cool burning. Top notch Balkan blend here. No one ingredient overpowers the others. It's all about teamwork. I can taste the campfire smoky latakia at the same time as the virginia sweetness, as well as the floral and sour notes from yenidje and a subtle hint of spice. Moisture content is perfect. Deeply reminiscent of Frog Morton On The Town. Flavors are good from the start and only get better. Highly recommended.

English blends like this are my "sittin'-alone-no-one-bug-me" blends.
I enjoy all the flavors and layers. Especially in a big freehand and a book.

Hot Damn!

Alright; so I'm not really a reviewer or an English smoker, but this blend in lack of a more tactful phrase, kicks serious ass. The softness of the aged virginias are a perfect counterpart to the bold latakia. It is just a expertly manicured tin. You get flavors like hay, caramel, campfire, toffee, truffle, and charcoal all mixed together; sweet, savory, spice, the works. The room aroma isn't too harsh for an English either. It really is a great meeting point if you're looking to get into full englishes. Or if you're a full english smoker and you're looking for an excellent, user friendly, easier smoke. 11/10 rating.
This was my first time trying White Knight. I found it to be a pleasurable smoke. Didn’t burn hot or wet. Flavors were pleasant.

A very nice English. No bite, quite mellow. Works well in several different shaped pipes so far. Will buy more 😁.

Aromatic, smooth & slow burning.

I typically keep smoking choices based on the moment. This is a pleasant cooler burning even smoke. The flavor and aroma are present but not overpowering and very easy for others in the den.
