Fits in pocket, no bulk, & gets the job done.

The worst thing about this tamper is that it is easy to lose. Buy a few at a time.

What can one say about a pipe nail? If it tamps, it's a 5. If not, pitch it. The horseshoe nail tamps just fine and earns five stars. Moreover, it's inexpensive and, if lost, is easily replaced. Is it an important accessory? It certainly is for reasons far more significant than burning your fingers. A good smoke, in my opinion, depends on controlling the tobacco burn. After all, we're talking about a tobacco burning oven which creates ash, and you just can't bank pipe ash well with your thumb. The tendency to do so often results in time lost for the annoying and avoidable task of draft hole unplugging. So do yourself a favor and get a pipe nail. I recommend this one.

The quality is excellent, light weight and solid. I prefer the round tamper end better but just something you have to get use to. Excellent product.

It's short without being to short, just right for me. It fits nice in my pocket and gets the job done.

Works good and has a sleek look

The Silver Horseshoe Nail is a great little pipe tool, especially when found on sale.

This is a great tool and I use it all the time.

Good cheap tool.

It tamps and scrapes but I prefer a rounded tamper to reach the outer edges of the tobacco.

PERFECT SIZE AND WEIGHT

For the price, it more than does the job.

Really love the look and weight of this!!

This is the only tamper I’ve used since 1982. I still have my first one, but I give them out to newbies. No worries about opening or closing it, or the “other tools” getting in the way. It can’t get too loose or be too tight to handle 1-handed. Nothing else needed in a tamper/scraper.

This is all you need in a tapper. Don’t go out and spend a fortune on others.

This great little tamper has replaced all other tools for me.

Best item I've ever tagged on to an order. Very handy, indeed.

Coolest little tool ever.

A nice, simple pipe tool. Nothing fancy but it gets the job done, and I feel better having this in my pocket during work then a Czech Tool, what with less (zero, to be exact) moving parts. Plus, you really can't beat that price. Buy a handful if you're like me and lose one every two weeks!

It’s a nail. You use it as a tamper. What more can you say?

I put this next to my Chech tool on my desk to see which one I'd reach for.
Guess which one wins 99 percent of the time.
And every morning I check my pocket to make sure I have a nail.
The Chech tool is good until the hinge goes lose. After the hinge goes they drive me nuts. I have a pile of them to prove it. The nail does the job every time.

I keep them everywhere. In my car, on the porch, in the ashtray, in my pouch, everywhere I might need one.
4 out of 5
Perfect for what it is. Cheap enough to buy multiples and have them around where and when I need them, and I don't have to worry about misplacing them.

Nice useful tool at a good price.

Nice simple tool for a great price!

For me, the Silver Horseshoe Nail is second only to the Penny nail design. I love it because it slides into my pipe roll without having to nudge something else out of a slot. My penny nail stays in my pocket.

What can I say, it's straight forward and effective.

I've purchased two and will be getting more. Easy tool to use (no hinge) and a conversation piece. Plan on taking one and polishing it up nice and engraving my initials on the head.
Could be a 1/4" longer for my Churchwarden.

It's good if you want to have the most minimal tool you can get away with, without compromising the usefulness.

This is a nifty tool. Not only will it help you tend your pipe. It is also inexpensive and a classic look. I gave a few to my dad as well. As they are the perfect pocket tool for a pipe smoker.

Does the trick.

I have the nail, all I need is the horse.
4 out of 5
Aside from the mold seam and cheap feel, this tamper performs its duties well. The only problem I ran into was that I bent it while scooping ash out of my Grabow Lark with it.
5 out of 5
It works like its suppose to.

Went from using a sheet metal screw to a horse shoe nail. Who knew that by using an older device it would improve my smoking so much.

Is excellent tool for my pipe and easy to use

Having grown up on a farm with horses, this nifty little tool brings back fine memories each time its used. Light and handy. Never leaves my pocket. Does the job with flair.

Good, simple tool. Small, lightweight, inexpensive. Decent little gift for pipe smoking buddies or newbies.

I’m so glad you sell these. I love them, they are my favorite tamps. Convenient, simple, just wonderful for small pipes as well as regular or large. Thank you so very much

I mean, it's functional if you're gentle with it. It lacks quality, build integrity and over-all is a bit disappointing. But it does technically function as intended. It has very obvious mold marks, the metal is incredibly soft, and it lacks the versatility that the flip-out tools have. But ultimately it works, and that's really all it needs to do.

Fits in my pockets well and works well too.

It’s nice I like it

Great deal on a great pipe!! The selection they had was very good on the pipes, and there were plenty of tobaccos to choose from! The cleaners that came with it are really good quality as well. I have told multiple friends about this kit, and would suggest it to anyone looking to get another pipe or someone looking to get into pipe smoking.

“It does its job pretty well, feels kinda cheap in appearance, but for the price I can't fault it for that. It's a great option if you like the look. The square tamp does look aesthetically pleasing, though the edges make it feel slightly awkward against the round bowl of a pipe. I would recommend this if you want the convenience of a nice cheap and efficient tool, with no frills, after all, there's no parts to break, no hinges to bother with, a pipe tamp as simple as they come, and it's pretty great in that respect.

works well, not as heavy as I had hoped

Very good, almost great. If they were only round headed. Some of my small bore pipes object to the square head. These are cheap and expendable without breaking the bank.

Nice. Does the job well, compact and light weight.

Great cheep tamper

This is a simple little thing. It works well as a tamper and scraper, but isn't very strong. I used it to pry open a tin and bent it. It was easy to bend back, so it wasn't really damaged. It would be much better if it were steel instead of aluminum,to give it some strength, but it is what it is.

Received this free for Customer Appreciation Week 2017. I have to say it is my favorite tamper. Most of the options on a Czech tool I only use after I am done smoking and they are completely needed then. This opens a tin, tamps, loosens ash etc. Perfect weight unlike a heavy Czech tool (IMO). If carried it won't stab you potentially like a Czech or a golf tee. All these items have their advantages but for me, hands down and for the cost, this is all I need. Would be awesome if a option was solid silver!

I really enjoy my horseshoe nail, it's very essential for me when I smoke my tobacco pipe, thank you so much.

works as it should, and no great loss if one disappears from your pocket.

Nice little tool to keep in my pocket with my wallet. Easy to use when I'm out and about and will definitely take this when backpacking. Tamps fine and the narrow end has a bit of a spoon to it making it great for emptying the pipe or loosening things up a bit.
Only two gripes: I wish it was a bit heavier, and aesthetically I don't like the casting seam. But these are basically inconsequential.

Great for travel pipe set kit

Its small and fits in the pocket nice, lite weight and simple ( i like simple) just wish it was round.

Good use for a ravel pipe kit when you don't want to fumble around

Works great good for packing and cleaning

I love the weight of this tamper. If I hold it a centimeter or so above the tobacco and let it fall, the weight of the nail flattens out the ash for me and I don't have to push at all. This keeps me from applying too much pressure, which can hamper my smoke.

I enjoy the horse nail pipe tamper it works great, and it has a nice look. I recommend it.

Love using a nail instead of a pipe tool that I have to fumble with to get open. This is not a flimsy piece, it is good quality

Greetings!! I found this tool to be quite useful. I used it the first time with my pipe and found it is great. It is a little on the cheaper end of the spectrum than I was expecting (was expecting something a little heavier) but for the price, you can't beat it.
I would definitely recommend this product if you are looking for a nice pipe tamper at a reasonable price.

Love the look can feel. its a little lite but serves its use well.

It works. It's an interesting shape compared to others. It's cheap (in price not quality) and that's good for someone like me who misplaces tampers almost as quick as I buy them.
4 out of 5
A little lite in weight but it gets the job done. I like the small paddle at the tip.
4 out of 5
Not bad for what it is - light & simple but I much prefer the Tsuge Bamboo Tamper.
5 out of 5
Not much to talk about here. It has a small and thin 'spoon' which is preferred for scraping and getting into corners and whatnot.
5 out of 5
If you're looking for a glamorous tamp to show off this isn't it. If you want one that works, is light, sized right and cheap to replace this is it.

A must have tool! And for only a couple dollars! Does the job as well or better than the one I spent three times as much for.

I order the Horseshoe Nail pipe tool because I got tired of carrying around my heavier pipe tool in my pocket and wanted something lightweight and simple to use. This item does the job and is so lightweight I forget I have it in my pocket at times. Affordable and does the job.

TSA has not taken it away---yet. Simple tool that works OK

I got this for my husband as a Christmas present and he really likes this tool for either packing and cleaning out the bowl. It is a great alternative to carrying around the regular multi tool.
5 out of 5
Just right for my needs.

Much lighter than expected, but does the job fine. Tamps the tobacco like a champ and the spoon gets right down in there. It wont make you dinner, but at this price who could expect it to. :)
4 out of 5
Nothing fancy, but it's well made and does what it's supposed to do. Can't beat the price!

Love using it better than the Chech tool. Love the spoon end but the tamper end should have been rounder.
