Beacon Extra is a medium-full bodied blend of slowly matured Virginias, noted for their well-behaved tang and sweetness, along with the spicy sweetness of Louisiana Perique. The tobaccos are pressed to develop and marry the flavors, and it's presented as a broken flake.

Great Followup To An Old Original

I am a true fan of "Beacon"! So I was intrigued when the "Old Beacon Extra", would it be as good as or better than it's forerunner? I think it's better, but with some constraints, if you're new to pipe smoking it might be a bit on the harsh side. But, for the "old timer" looking for something different, it's SUPERB! Slow easy draws with heavenly! Will be getting more!

The only gripe I have with this bright blend of Virginia and perique is keeping it lit. Once it is going it is worth the wait.

If you like McClelland Virginia's and 2015 is just not giving you enough perique then this is what you need to be smoking.
I am a perigee fiend and would not call this one heavy in Perique at all just in case my opening was misleading. It is just pretty strong for a McClelland blend, since all the vapers that I have thus far tasted from them are pretty weak in perique content.
Most importantly though is the flavor. This pits the perfect amount of spice to the zesty sweet McClelland Virginia. Overall, a fantastic tasting blend worth stocking the cellar with.
