Hard to open and hard to light.

I read the reviews, then decided that for ten bucks and four lighters to tinker with, I could come up with at least one good one. My final 'fix' for the horror of trying to light this thing was to operate everything the way it is designed to WITHOUT ANY BUTANE IN THE LIGHTER, then lock the mechanism in place with rubber bands around the push button, and a very small screwdriver under the BOTTOM of the child-proof button. Then, I put a THIN line of super glue on the seam around the safety button, and let it sit overnight. Of the four I purchased, I now have four EXCELLENT lighters that are easy to use. And the FLAME is the best of any lighter I own! It is laser thin, will reach to the bottom of even my OOM-PAUL pipe, and is so hot that I gat a full light in less than one second. Due to that, this lighter uses very little butane.

to hard to use and is worthless to me

I like the lighter well enough that I ordered a package of four. I find the lighter easy to hold and start...ideal for me and lighting my pipe.

Very complicated to use

1) Very poor design. The lighter requires an awkward placement of opening and sparking for it to light. Also, it is NOT carbon fiber; it's cheap plastic that gives the appearance of being carbon fiber. There is a reason they are this inexpensive. Unfortunately, a 99 cent Bic is a much better option.

Concept and modern look is fine but very difficult to open top and light. It takes me several attempts to get lid open to the point that I get another lighter.

It's not a terrible lighter for something other than a pipe. It won't stay lit for more that a few seconds, and the controls are a bit clumsy and unwieldy for someone with bigger hands such as myself.

Just received the lighter, Am now going to try and get my money back.!!!!!!! save your money,, Bic's are a sure bet....

It's too hard to light

Not ergonomic at all. Full of sharp corners and awkward safety controls make for poor handling. As for the "carbon fiber", it's just the screened pattern. I was pretty disappointed.

While the appearance is "carbon fiber" it appears to be a simulation made of plastic that is made to look like carbon fiber. It works well, although the "safety catch" is a little tricky to operate. Still for the price, I have not found a better deal.
I have given one to a friend who also appreciates using it too.

Adequate at a great price.

Difficult to use and flame goes out after 2 seconds. Very annoying. Of the 4 only 2 actually work properly but the child proofed feature makes it a pain to use.

Worst lighter I have ever owned, does not light well, and if left in any heat i.e.your car,it will warp and become unusable.

FYI this item is now located in the lake not a good lighter will not light every time and flame (when it does light) cannot be adjusted high enough to light a pipe

Great lighter so I bought 4 of them

Looks slick! Other than that - you get what you pay for. Doesn't light every time and doesn't stay lit very well. Better off spending a bit more on something quality.

Bought the 4-pack and have managed to get 2 of them to work after a fairly long break-in period. Of the other two, one of them kind of acts like it wants to try to light but can't quite get there and the fourth one seemingly has no intention of going to work anytime soon. So, if you have the patience and time to work with them, you might eventually end up with a decent lighter. Or not. Do you feel lucky?

Great lighter. For the price. Lights well. Stays lit in wind.
Only con. Is the safety catch. Makes it difficult one handed. But once you get used to it

This is the exact same later camel gave away in their packs of cigarettes like 10 years ago... The lighter looks amazing but will only stay lit for a second at a time.

These lighters are terrible! I have 6 of them and can't get a single one to stay lit for more than a second. I have had others try it with the same result. These are garbage.

it takes a bit of getting used to. once you get comfortable with the cockeyed-uncomfortable safety lock mechanism, it is extremely reliable and quite durable. the visible fuel supply is informative but misleading. again -once you learn its signal-it is quite reliable. I like this lighter. I have now bought many of them at this remarkable-give away price. not for the faint hearted--but buckup lighter fans--the bold among you can get really fine lighter el cheapo.

Terrible lighter, will not stay lit.

Really nice lighter, child proof worked great til it quit lighting. Had about a week and used it to light a few cigarettes and 7 cigars.

I've bought two of these, the second to replace the first, and neither of them work--at all. I've flushed the gas, tried different brands of gas, blown out the burners, adjusted the gas supply and nothing works. I hope there's a warranty or P&C may stand behind these. I expected at least some fire for $8 and not hassle at least for some short lifetime.

This lighter is hard to get going. After messing with it for 1/2 hour. It finally got to the point it would light and stay lit. Before that, it would light for about 1 second and go out. It is a good lighter if you have the patience to get it "broke in". The price was right.

The price is right. It does light every time.
I locked the security switch off with crazy glue
This makes it more suitable for a pipe.
