Love the way this pipe smokes. It is easily becoming a favorite with a dry smoke while imparting great tobacco flavor. The pipe is easy to clean. Highly recommended!

Very nice pipe, actually order a second one because I liked this one so much.

For my smoking delight im calling this Morning Erikson the Best pipe to draw and ez to clean because of unique filtration using keystones ...

For anybody that wants to try new aromatics or any tobacco for that matter this is the pipe to do it with. Absolutely no moisture due to the Keystone system. They smoke cool and dry. I have four now and enjoy them all.

This is a very nice pipe.
I'm not sure as of yet about the "Keystone" feature, but the pipe does smoke well.
I experienced a smooth draw with only 2 relights. The tobacco (Peterson E.M.P.) smoked cleanly and completely to ash and no dottle to speak of.
For the money I highly recommend this Nording.

This is a sturdy, well designed, every day pipe. I drive a rig and can’t be super careful but this pipe gets loaded every day and takes the abuse of bouncing around in the cab. Smokes to ash and the smoke is dry, dry, dry due to is special chamber. I get 2 or 3 smokes before the rocks need changed.

This is a great pipe that I take camping because it’s light and inexpensive compared to my other pipes so if it gets dropped or abused no big deal
5 out of 5
I like this pipe because you can easily wash the lower plastic body. The clay pebbles absorb moisture and prevent gurgling. Very unique.

For this price I'm tempted to buy more just for backup. It's become my regular and i honestly didn't expect it to be as good as it is with that price tag.

Can't help it, I been smoking these pipes for about a year. I now added two more to my collection. They smoke wonderfully. Dry as a bone and cool all the way down. NO dottle. Easy to clean and nothing to really maintain. I put a few stones in the bottom and go for 5-6 bowls before replacing them. And, because the chamber stays dry, I can smoke bowl after bowl without waiting for the bowl to dry out.
I used to start newbies off on cobs, but now I'll recommend these.
I have only one request, that they make a half-bend or full bend version.

I love my new pipe. i bought that, as my 44th birthday present~i love the lava stones easy to clean and no wasted tobacco. great product. Thank you~ Travis Verble

Love shape, weight, not in love with key stone filters

Comfortable pipe, a little hot in the bowl, but nice regardless. Decent size bowl holds a good amount of tobacco. The filter mechanism is very unique.

I now have 3 of these and have been smoking them for several months now. I like them a lot (see my other reviews), they are extremely easy to clean, once I use up the stones in the small tin I refill the tin from the bag (enough stones to last for years). You can clean out the bottom of the pipe with a Q-Tip, the stem with a pipe cleaner, you can even clean it in soap and water. The bottom does not get hot. The bowl are good briar and do NOT burn as one reviewer said. My only wish is that the bowls were a little larger but that does not stop me from smoking them. The plastic bottom is strong and does not absorb the condensed moisture like briar does.

Nice dry smoke. Smokes well for inexpensive pipe I use it while working in the yard.

Let's face facts...this is NOT a $200 pipe.
But, for the price, it is a VERY good pipe!
I love the cool, dry smoke it provides and when you're done with a bowl, there is literally nothing but white ash left. No more wasted tobacco!
The only negative I could find is that the molded plastic stem/lower bowl part had some pretty sharp mold marks left behind, but nothing a little fast work with some 800-grit sandpaper fixed that in minutes.
I plan to buy another of these very soon.

It takes awhile to break in the plastic but it smokes cool..the filters need to be replaced every two to three smokes.. smokes quicker than my other pipe..

I've not actually used the pipe yet, but based on appearance alone, i gave it the rating.

Not terribly fond of it yet. There's a lot of plastic but it feels like it would survive some abuse. It smokes well and should make a good camping pipe.

So far I like it

Very nice smoke, dry, easy draw and does indeed use all the tobacco down to ash. I've been very happy with the pipe and recommend it.

I was skeptical about this moisture control system but to my pleasant surprise it seems to work pretty well. The bowl is a little smaller than I'd like but it smokes cool and dry to I can recommend it.

This smokes different from my usual pipe but has a smooth cool draw. It makes for a nice change.

Smokes smooth, First time using a pipe that requires the crystals. But so far worth the extra effort

I really love this pipe, nice and light. I prefer a full bent but it's light in the teeth. I had the smaller version and this excels at dealing with bubbly tobacco.

I got this to be a nice survivable for when I travel. This has quickly become my favorite smoke. It doesn't matter what I smoke in it or the style (ribbon, cake, rope, &c.) it smokes cool and even the whole way to the bottom. With other "filter" pipes I've gotten in the past the very first thing I do is remove the filter and forget them. In this case the "filter" works to cool the smoke. Tobacco's I've smoked before out of much more expensive "systems" and would still produce tongue bite after a few minutes smoke smooth and cool. I love this pipe and I've already ordered a couple more so I have a good rotations. For new smokers who may have gotten in with a cob or "cheap" briar I'd absolutely recommend looking at getting one (or three) of these.

Smokes dry to the bottom of the bowl. Not a novelty but a excellent pipe, I was concerned about cleaning but its so easy. I remove the bowl, ditch the filter media and run soapy water thru the stem. One pipe cleaner to dry and its done. I have five so far, all different in bowl and black stem. I'm waiting for the orange to be back in stock.

A lot of plastic but I am really enjoying the keystones

I was sceptical but gave the blue Erikson a shot because the price was reasonable. It's now among my favorite pipes. It's in my daily rotation of everywhere pipes. My opinion is the same as many who have posted already. It's light and durable. It smokes beautifully. Easy to clean. I detected the slightest chemical taste the first couple bowls but that is gone now and it smokes sweet and clean. Nording produces quality affordable products and has become among my favorite brands and I will be ordering several more Eriksen pipes. It's worth mentioning that I also love the Keystones that they included with the pipe, I use them in my others as well. I highly recommend purchasing the Nording Eriksen pipe system.

Just as advertised, this does smoke cool. I did not notice any bad smell when smoking.

The pipe is well worth the price so far. It smokes dry and is a great change of pace from my briars.

It’s ok. Aesthetically speaking, the stem could be improved with a tad more finishing. Smokes as described. Nice fit in your Jacket pocket. I like it.

This is my second Eriksen, my review on the first one is below. The first bowl with this pipe gave me a perfect smoke! Full taste, cool and dry, no tongue bite. No plastic taste, so I think some bowls are contaminated with varnish and this is where that smell comes from reported in some reviews. I smoked my first pipe for a week now and the plastic smell stopped after 4 bowls. There is NO heating of the plastic bottom of the pipe as the plastic remains unmelted and shiny even after many bowls with 3 tobaccos. This pipe is easy to clean, and the plastic stem is strong and will not absorb odors from the condensation like a wood stem. A tiny amount of O-ring grease (silicone) on the O-ring (Vaseline could also be used) keeps it easy to take off and remove. The O-ring does not get hot. I change the stones after 3 or 4 bowls. Not only do the stones absorb moisture the lower part uses the Calibash effect, named after the Calibash pipe, in which smoke expanding from the hole in the bowl allows condensation and cooling. IT WORKS! And the tobacco burns evenly down to the bottom. I commend Nording for continuing to improve pipe designs. They certainly know what they are doing and make a high quality product.

The bowl is beautiful brier! It is much lighter than a traditional pipe which I like, but I also got a strange burned rubber smell. It happened the first time I used it, even before the bowl got hot to my hand. I think it was the surface of the brier in contact with the burning tobacco, not the bottom plastic construction. My wife could smell it also. It decreased with each bowl I smoked and after 5 or 6 bowls it is barely noticeable. I checked and the plastic that holds the stones shows no signs of heating at all, and I wiped it clean and examined with a magnifying glass. The plastic has sharp corners and was shiny which would not be the case if it melted or burned. The plastic is NOT melting or burning and I don’t think that part of the pipe got hot at all as the outside of the plastic stays cool during the entire smoke. The O ring shows no signs of being heated. I think the smell was in the brier itself as the odor showed up right at the beginning long before the outside of the bowl got hot. I had a brier pipe once that had no plastic other than the bit and it burned slightly at the bottom when I smoked it the first few times and I remember the taste of brier burning was very strange so maybe that is what is happening with this pipe. The inside of the bowl was a little rough when I got it and I think the surface of the wood burned slightly making the odor. But I’m liking it more with each bowl I smoke, and I am amazed at the way the tobacco burns evenly and completely all the way down. There is no sign of the brier at the bottom burning. This may become one of my favorite pipes. My current favorites are three Nordings I bought over the last 3 years. Oh, and cleaning this pipe will be very easy. Also it comes with a small tin of the stones so it will be a while before I have to buy more. For me the stones don’t have to be changed until 2 or 3 bowls have been smoked.

This is a great pipe.

I was skeptical of a plastic pipe with a removable briar bowl. After the first bowl I was a believer. The pipe is fantastic. The keystones work better than I thought. It takes away tounge bite and no more wet girgule.
5 out of 5
i was hesitant about a more contemporary pipe then my other Nordings, but as soon as i saw it and used it it made sense and i was pleasantly surprised by it. This is the Nording equivalent of the English Falcon style of pipes. It is a little longer than i usually have, and it is solid construction, bit on the heavier side but pleasing to hold. I would recommend just for something different that is in a classic form

Fantastic smoke!! I smoke this pipe more than I do my others. It's got a fantastic draw and smokes cool and dry with the keystones. Easy to keep clean. Genius engineering. Comes with some key stones as well! 10/10 would recommend.

Great pipe. I like the drying stones that go in the bottom of the pipe. They really work. Only bummer is the pipe is not very deep due to the drying stones. I would like the bowl to hold more. Otherwise it’s a solid pipe.

I admit, this pipe is different. But, it is a great smoke and is excellent quality.

I just bought a keystone filter pipe, and I like it! It's nicely designed, and it provides a cool smoke. I'm new to keystones, but so far so good!
PipsandCigars.com performed very well, too. They kept me posted, and delivered on schedule. I'll certainly do more business with this company in the future.

As a new pipe smoker I appreciate the sheer simplicity of this pipe. It draws excellently due to it's spiral chamber and remains cool and dry thanks to the keystones. It also breaks down easily for cleaning and travel.

Some blends it filters TOO well and I can't taste much

This is the single greatest pipe I've ever smoked. I've collected and massed dozens of pipes but this is the most unique and most practical for me. This pipe offered me the greatest solution to my moisture problems, with its two-chamber, simple yet extremely practical pipe system. The smoke cools because of it, the moisture is absorbed by the stones and no taste nor flavor is lost from the tobacco. In fact, this is the coolest smoke I've ever experienced. I cant believe I'm saying this, but this pipe smokes better, smokes cooler, and smokes dryer than my Missouri Meerschaum cob pipes. I would highly recommend this pipe to newer smokers especially.
Only one small caveat, this pipe is not traditional by any means, so the pipe smoker should be amenable to change in the traditional pipe smoking sense.

not great but pretty good

This pipe is super light, very clencheable, nearly unbreakable, and the bowl is spacious. I bought the nuclear green one and I'm absolutely in love with it. I haven't wanted to stop smoking it in the last few days I've owned it. The mouthpiece is soft and comes off so you can clean it separately. The bowl is also removable and there is a venturi under the bowl which creates a space for the smoke to mix and cool. That's where you put the keystones. I have smoked it without the stones and one of my tobaccos left a nice little puddle in the venturi so I'm not excited for when I run out since they're out of stock here.

The keystone system makes this pipe truly interesting. I haven't yet smoked it enough to break it in, but so far it is a good, cool smoke

I like the way this pipe smokes. The stone system helps it stay dry. It's a nice weight. I think this is my new travel pipe.

very good quality craftsmanship, I personally didn't notice a plastic taste but apparently a couple of other users did

A bit of a novelty among lower priced pipes. It smokes great and cleans up nice. The keystones are easy to work with (I use 10-12, not 20) I smoke mostly English blends and only smoke aromatics in a corn cob. Hope this helps.

nice weight vs length.

The keystones enable me to keep this pipe dryer longer and me happier

I don't want to gush to much for I have only smoked 3 half bowls but so far I love this pipe. it burns the tobacco down evenly, I think due to the center location of the draw hole at the base of the bowl. Futuristic looking pipe, modern and clean. Low cost. I'm buying another one for sure. And the smoking is cool with the stones. I repeat the good comments on the smoke, cool and dry. Suggestion to Nording Pipes, make a higher quality version in the future with similar design and features.

I have a few of these pipes for yard work and they smoke fine, have had them over a year now and do NOT have any (plastic) melting issues at all. If your melting any part of the pipe YOU are smoking way to fast. Otherwise a great pipe, but I like them for yard work as I can pack the pipe multiple times a day with no bitterness then let it rest a couple days or so.

These pipes are rubbish and a waste of money. The bottom of the bowl that is inserted into the part attached to the stem is made of softwood rather than briar and quickly burns up rendering the pipe useless. No replacement bowls are available. DON'T BUY THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE MONEY TO WASTE.
4 out of 5
Enjoy the pipe. Good Smoke. I use mostly aromatics so the Keystones and design help reduce the moisture. I am really curious as to how other reviewers smoke their pipes to a temp that melts the plastic. I have never had that experience. I would buy another pipe or two if they were in stock
5 out of 5
This little inexpensive pipe is definitely my favorite. Smokes so nice and cool and the pipe itself stayes cooler than most! I've got Peterson and various other more expensive pipes and this one smokes the best. Only other pipi I liked nearly as well was a Peterson system 312, which was stolen in a burglary of my home, but comparing a $30 pipe to a $130 dollar pipe, really the Eriksen wins easily! I did buy another Peterson, but it's not nearly as good a smoker as the 312 was. My mistake, I should have gotten that one again, but went for a lighter weight Peterson, don't recall the number, but it's been a disappointment. The only thing I don't like about it is that the bowl is on the small side. But hey, I just need to fill it more. Those little clay pebbles really do soak up a lot of the byproducts of the tobacco. Too bad they are all out of stock.

for the price you can't go wrong - a fun pipe in it's own way
1 out of 5
Sorry to say I'm not a fan of this pipe. They should have used a different material, the keystones keep melting the plastic material they used and it gives off a bad plastic taste.
1 out of 5
Really tried to like this pipe. No matter what I tried I keep getting that melted plastic taste.
5 out of 5
The pipe is not the prettiest pipe but the system is quite ingenious and works very well to keep you puffing cool dry smoke. It is also pretty light and it's well constructed.

The lighter works once and awhile. Leeks out fluid. The fluid burns out quick. I tried two different kids of fluid. Just a paper weight

Hope this doesn't raise the price.

great little pipe for the price point. I hope they star selling extra bowls and stems separately soon.

This pipe may seem a bit gadgety to some, but it works as advertised. The clay stones keep the moisture and heat to a minimum for a cool, gurgle-free smoke.
5 out of 5
I have enjoyed my Ericksen pipe it smokes really well i have had it some time now the only thing i have noticed wrong is it may have a bit of a tight draw for some but good part about the pipe is you can adjust the draw to how you like it and all it takes is a few drill bits and a drill. the other great thing about the pipe is that the keystones really work well but do not use to many other wise it can cause you a few issue experamented with the amount and i have to agree with the other review 8 to 9 is plenty. personally i will be ordering another Eriksen maybe more also a bag of keystones the even help some of my other pipes with moisture issues and i do not have to use pipe cleaners with my Eriksen and it keeps the pipes a bit cleaner in my opinion
4 out of 5
Aromatics are fun again. The keystones remove the gurgle and tar leaving just the taste and aroma. I only use 8 or so and it took me a little bit of time to get used to the pipe. I still prefer a mm cob for a drier burley blend.
3 out of 5
It was a disappointment because it so hard to draw but after my mods to it it smokes better. Only in my opinion you are better off with a falcon or something of that sort.

Pipe smokes real smooth, with no bitter aftertaste

An excellent pipe the only downside I have found so far is that the stem is not the one I would prefer.

I have really enjoyed my Nording Erickson Keystone Egg. It has good capacity, light weight, cool and dry smoking. It just makes me mad that I didn't think of putting kitty litter in a pipe fifty years ago. All joking aside this pipe is a tremendous bargain.
5 out of 5
I’ve spent years getting rid of the smoke juice in the bottom of the bowl or the stem of my pipes. Filters are OK, but they restrict the air flow a little. Any filter pipe draws better without the filter. Nording fixed my problem by building a pipe with a convoluted channel in the bowl bottom that holds pellets of an absorbent material that soak up the moisture. After two smokes I replace the inexpensive material with a few more pieces. My Keystone Egg #2 is now one of my regular smokers. Try it.
4 out of 5
This seemed a bit of a novelty idea but for the price I took a shot. My real attraction to the pipe is that it broke down in pieces and would hopefully make a good kayak / travel / carry pipe. Easier to carry with less chance of breaking the stem of a traditional type and it does transport well.
As for smoking, the center hole in the bowl draws fine and I had no issues with the one exception of when I tried some cube cut.
I have smoked it with and without the keystones and personally don't see much difference. It also takes some getting used to to remember that you have the material in when breaking the pipe down for cleaning. I didn't find the channels that much bother to clean either, just a different technique needed that's all.
It's a handsome pipe in its own way and I will probably purchase another to throw in my carry-on bag at this favorable price.
