Always in my inventory. There was hardly anything that Dunhill didn't manege with excellence concerning pipes and tobacco and this is a fine example. Packaging has changed--not for the better--"Navy Cut" name too with Peterson's version and sometimes it seems flavors have changed. But overall I'm just grateful that Peterson picked up on marketing these remarkable blends.

Smooth fulfilling smoke during my morning study time. Not too sweet.

A nice smoke with a bit of sweetness. The tongue bite wasn’t bad at all. Just on the lighting draw when you take in large breaths. It’s straight Virginia with nothing else. This isn’t a 5 star, but I will buy it again.

This is probably my new go-to everyday/meat n potatoes Tobacco. This provided a experience like I’ve never experienced. Very fresh and grassy. Slight bakery taste to add on to the grass. Not crazy full flavored, not a lot going on, just pure, fresh and amazing Virginia!
10/10

Very smooth with nice taste and good flavor.

So far I'm really enjoying this. I'm getting used to rolling out a sheet and lighting up. I have purchased several Peterson tobaccos and every one of them has been exceptional in taste and quality.

Very smooth, no bite or harshness. Didn't expect this from Virginia. Keeps lit as most flake. Great for 1st morning smoke with coffee. Of course, good through rest of day. May be a tad too mild for end of day.

I have always liked Dunhill Flake now Peterson Flake. it is sweet, grassy with a hint of fruit, it smokes light, leaves a good room note, and is not overpowering in the nicotine department. This is my all time favorite tobacco. Its not aromatic or flavored, I highly recommend it.

Good smoke, but not my favorite, a little on the harsh side for me.

Grassy and subtle at first and then amazing over time. I can’t wait to age a tin for a decade.

Still searching for a bulk flake that matches Dunhill Flake. For pure taste nothing matches what Dunhill Flake brings. Never a bad bowl or worrying about consistency. Simply the best that I have tried.

This flake is as one would expect from Dunhill.
Easy to rub out leaving uniform threads, packs well
lights easy, burns evenly leaving a light gray ash.

Tasty, fresh out of the tin; even better with a bit of age.

I hope this going out of business thing is a charade.

VA fans get some of this before they stop making it.. it will become scarce soon enough

1/2 through the tin and I am enjoying it. I chose to rub it out because it was easier to light and maintain. Good job Dunhill

I recently returned to pipe smoking after many years smoking only cigars and am in the process of trying out a number of different pipe tobaccos. Dunhill Flake is my "go to" standard for comparison: the taste and aroma of high quality clean, pure, unadulterated Virginia tobacco. Any tobacco that can't meet or beat it for shear smoking pleasure gets left behind. So far, very few others have made the grade.

I'm a huge fan of Flakes. Mostly Va/Per, but really any VA flake. This tobacco is by far the sweetest VA Flake I've ever smoked. It is almost as if there is a topping but from what I've read there is not? Either way. Super strong. Very well behaved. They say it's a must for any VA flake lover and I hesitated buying this. But will keep in my rotation for sure!

Represents everything that is great about bright Virginia leaf. Zesty but not bite-y, sweet but not cloying. Creates rich, white, satisfying smoke. It offers that outdoorsy hay-and-grass note that stands alone and needs no Perique, Latakia, or orientals to give it character. It is the best representation of that "lemon tea" taste experience of any tobacco I have tried. When Dunhill exits the market, this is one product that I will sorely miss. There are others that come close, like Orlik Golden Sliced, but Dunhill Flake is the king of the Virginias, hands-down.

One of my absolute favorites smokes. Tastes sweet, fresh, and outdoorsy. No bite, clean ash. I'm in a panic because I heard a rumor that Dunhill won't be offering pipe tobacco much longer!

A delicious, sweet Virginia flake. The flavor develops nicely as the bowl progresses

My favorite flake, bar none.

I found this to be very mild and enjoyable. This could easily be an everyday smoke. I did not notice any tongue bite. The flakes had the perfect amount of moisture and they burned very well and evenly. Don't hesitate to buy this tin, you will find yourself ordering more for the cellar.

I've tried quite a few flakes, but this one is in my top three. It's a Virginia. That's it. I don't detect a topping. Just a nice smooth Virginia flake. No perique, no rum flavor, just Virginias, and some very smooth Virginias at that. Mildly sweet, with a hay-like smell from the tin. Let a few flakes sit out for a bit to dry, then pack it up, whichever way you choose. I will definitely be ordering some more of this one for sure!

Dunhill Flake is so good I don't want to open the stored tins of it I have, desiring to save them all, like gold.

Dunhill Flake has been my favorite tobacco since I started smoking a pipe five years ago and has never been knocked off the perch despite several tins of other blends that have followed.
DF is a straight Virginia blend with a light topping that seems to amplify the natural sweetness of the Virginias. The Virginia has a citrus and grassy sweetness that is really a one of a kind taste. There are some that come close. Capstan Blue comes to mind, but I have yet to find anything to top it.

This flake is everything you want in a straight Virgnia. Flavor aroma and taste are what you can expect from Dunhill.

This is a high quality and flavorful flake that burns well and is consistent throughout the smoke. I prefer this flake to other quality flakes such as FVF and Capstan.

I smoked 3 Nuns for many years, and then they stopped making it. I was very happy when they came out with 3 Nuns again, but it isn't the same. Don't like it. I like Dunhill Flake, but not as well as 3 Nuns made in Scotland.

As far as the tobacco I think it's very similar to the or kin golden slice, hard to tel the difference, both great smokes out of the tin can .

I’ve tried a good many straight Virginia tobaccos and have liked most of them. My two favorites are Capstan (Blue) and Dunhill Flake. Of the two, the Dunhill gets my highest rating. Smoking a bowl of Dunhill Flake is one of the classic pipe smoking experiences. The blend of Virginias in it deliver all the aspects of that leaf, but without going overboard. There’s some hay there, some citrus, some sweetness, but no over emphasis on any of these. What you get is a clean, high quality Virginia that smokes cool and satisfyingly. It says clearly, “you are smoking the Benchmark Virginia blend.”

The tin note is figs and white grapes. This fine Virginia has an almost wine-like flavor. Rich Dunhill, the sweet and subtle Capstans, and the earthier Samuel Gawith Best Brown are to my palate the Three (or four) Bears of Virginia flake; one among them is bound to be just right.

An occasional smoke, not enough heft for the punch I like

Top notch Va Flake. The range of flavor is from grass to lemon. Plummy tin note should not discourage, the taste is unaffected.
Burns smooth with no bite. Perfect for those looking to venture in to strait VA's.
