RO Series Perique Blend GP-11 contains Perique grown in the Grand Point region. This has more of the traditional characteristics of Perique, with a fruitiness and sweet spice and a hint of cocoa. Russ blended this with some exceptional bright Virginia and double toasted Burley to allow the natural flavor of this unique Perique to shine.
What Russ can do very very well is strike a balance between components in a blend that allows it to sing like a choir, the different "voices" distinctly heard while combining to create an harmonious whole. For me, GP-11 is the master composition of the RO Perique Series. It hasn't been available for sale for a long time, which is a real shame. Guess the supply just ran out. I'm relieved that I put away tins to age when I did. If you can find this one anywhere, snap it up.

A definite comfort blend

A very high quality tobacco, which is apparent as soon as you open the tin. The nose is plums, raisins, and soft red wine. You can taste the fruitiness and the brightness of the Virginias in the first third of the bowl, and the Perique really settles in for the rest of the way which is comforting and very enjoyable. The aftertaste is short-lived, which is why I deducted one star, but that's just a personal preference. This is a phenomenal Perique blend that is mellow and relaxing. I hope it remains in production!

Glad I Tried This Brand.

Never heard of this brand, decided to give it a try. This is a perfect example of why people should try different tobacco. The first six puffs or so we're very peppery, almost overwhelming. I thought oh no. But it settled into a marvelous, smooth, cool smoking experience. Packed and lit easily, no bite whatsoever. Unlike many brands that require drying, this is good to go from a freshly opened tin.
I highly recommend this tobacco and look forward to trying more blends from this maker.

perique a bit strong

It might be me i seem to enjoy perique a slight bit and not pronounced. High quality tobacco just not to my taste.
If you like Virginia-Burley blends with some dark Perique flavor, this one is for you.

The Virginia is soft, sweet, and wine-like, not sharp. There is some peppery zest, but well below the nuisance level. It's pretty much like the label description says: mellow & rich. The cut is kind of a medium chop, and it is easy to pack and light.
