Works great, however, for non aromatic tobaccos it can take from the flavor, especially if you jut put it in. Also for some reason they tend to run long so you might have to cut some of it out, I guess it depends on the pipe.

These "filters" definitely reduce the oils and tars that cause a bitter taste.
5 out of 5
These lsst longer, dont have any aftertaste and are easier to remove than the tube types.

Absolutely fantastic! Bravo to customer service at Pipes & Cigars for suggesting these as I had a problem with the 9mm Stanwell filters blocking the draw from my new pipe. They suggested give these babies a try. Fits and works perfectly!

Quality product! Love it!

I like them. Minimal muss and fuss to change them out and they work very well. What more could a pipe smoker ask?

Like using the Savinelli Balsa Dry 9mm when smoking than using the peterson filter when smoking my pipe.

Have been using for years, great filter
5 out of 5
Works much better than paper filters
5 out of 5
Works great does not hinder flavor or the amount of smoke coming through. Does allow for a cool draw.
5 out of 5
In my opinion these are the gold standard of 9mm filters.

Great dry smoke without harshness

Great fit with Savinelli or Rossi’s...a must if you fear tongue bite with some of your tobacco blends.

serves my needs

These are the only filters I've used in my pipe, but I don't plan to change anytime soon. They cool the smoke down some, but don't prevent me from getting a good draw. If you smoke with a filter these are kinda the gold standard in my opinion.

P&C is the best online store. Also Russ's videos on face book are great. Shipping is fast. Good selection.

Works fine in New pipe not a savinelli
5 out of 5
Work great for the wet smoker.
5 out of 5
these are the best filter on the market as the soft spongey wood soaks up everything. Try it once and you`ll never go without
5 out of 5
Great filter works good on absorbing moisture.

Essential item if you use a Savinelli pipe. Need replacing after 2-3 bowls.

EASY TO USE AND DOES THE JOB

Soaks up moisture, stops my pipe from gurgling.

Helps with coolness and tongue bite.

Very absorbent and do not restrict draw much.

The filter works. Too well with some tobaccos

Amazing pipe filters!

Good quality filtering system. Tends to get very wet and gummy quickly which it is supposed to do so you through a good many of them. A 30 pack would be more cost-effective. Right now I am still more partial to the Aldo Velani filters they tend to last longer and are a better buy.

......but a bit pricey.

Very Good Choice for MM corn cobs ( General,5th Avenue Diplomat,Mark Twain ) and you can ' Dry them out ' and get one or two re-uses out of them too !!!!!

They work well in the pipe just have to replace in pipe more then 9mm type

They do the job

Exceptional filters that trap moisture incredibly well.

I've tried all types of filters and the Savinelli balsa are the best and driest filters around. I try to always use these.

best filter of any on the market

OK, so I'm a light weight, I only smoke filtered pipes, finally decided to try the balsa filters and guess what...they were pretty amazing. They do a great job of sucking up the moisture and last longer than paper filters before needing to be replaced. I'd recommend anyone who smokes filtered pipes to give them a try.

I got some with my Siena 626 and even though I'm not much of a filter guy, these don't really act like a filter. More of a moisture wick. I'm just hoping they're back in stock soon

I use these balsa filters in my corn cob pipes works real well and last about three bowl fulls

I have been using this Savinelli 6 MM Filter for over 25 years now. I think they are great. I can't imagine using anything else. I do have one E.A.Cary Pipe with that air cooling system and hate it just a waist of time. The Balsa Filter takes out some of the nicotine and moisture as I smoke which I really like compared to my regular straight pipes that I have to clean after smoking each time. I wish they lasted longer than average of 3 times of use cause I average smoking 4 to 5 pipes a day so that is a lot of filters being used in a month. I highly recommend the filtered pipes for smoking this system Savinelli Pipes are the best and their filtering system is great. I have 11 of their pipes and plan to add more to my collection as years go by with the Balsa Filter system in them.

Bought these on the suggestion of a friend. Amazing! Keeps the moisture down

These balsam filters work great and Pipes and Cigars has me as new customer.

Very uncomplicated device that’s easy to install and remove after use. Doesn’t adversely affect the pipes draw. Does a good job of filtering too. Absorbs or stops moisture and/or small bits of errant tobacco. Elegant in it’s simplicity and utility. Must have for your 9mm filter pipe

If you prefer a filter, these are the best. They absorb moisture and impurities.
5 out of 5
If you use filters try these. There better than the paper filters. I use these in my MM cobs. You can rinse them off and use a second time.
5 out of 5
Nothing catches moisture better than Balsa.. Not only that but it smooths out a smoke by is porous density.
5 out of 5
Best pipe filters.
5 out of 5
Did not like them I don't believe they are a good filter
5 out of 5
I use the filter in any of my pipes they fit. Cleaner pipe and better smoke. Tobacco burns longer without relighting. Thank you, Billy.

These are the best filters I have ever used. They are better than the paper and charcoal filters.

Good for up to five bowels. Keeps taste sweet

Love these little fellers
5 out of 5
Tried these in my 6mm pipes, they work really well absorbing moisture for a dry smoking experience.
5 out of 5
These work very well while “breaking in” a new Sav and also great for cobs to keep out the ash/trash. Work well without affecting the flavor at all.
5 out of 5
They really help the saliva problem while smoking my pipe!
5 out of 5
Great filter for retaining the most flavor.
5 out of 5
I like the balsa wood, they soak up a lot of moisture and they are easily trimmed to your preference.
5 out of 5
I've tried both paper and these in corn cobs and briars; these are superior without a doubt. They don't rattle, they last longer, and they don't affect the draw.
4 out of 5
Have not noticed any difference between the Savinelli and paper filters. They do the job.
5 out of 5
It's good. Will order more.
5 out of 5
Fits nicely in my M.M. cob pipes. I much prefer these to the paper filters, no soggy paper taste!
5 out of 5
Been using these for years. Much better than the cardboard filters.
5 out of 5
Had one come with my pipe. Never liked filters but this is a great for those marsh blends and it doesn't strip the flavor. Only good for two maybe three smokes.
3 out of 5
Does the job. Get wet real fast. A couple of small bowls at most and they're soaked. Also a slide taste of balsa is evident in the smoke. Can't beat a standard 9mm European filter.
5 out of 5
FUNCIONAN MUY BIEN: ABSORBEN CON FACILIDAD Y FACILITAN EL TIRO FRESCO Y SECO.
MI DUDA ES SI LAS PARTICULAS DE RESIDUO QUE SE VEN EN EL PAQUETE NO PUEDEN AFECTAR AL DESPRENDERSE Y RESPIRARSE AL INTERIOR DE LOS PULMONES.
5 out of 5
Takes the moisture out. Cuts back on a hot smoke. For me it cuts back on tongue bite.
5 out of 5
The balsa filters do a great job. They work a lot better than charcoal. Can't even tell they are there.
5 out of 5
Wanted to try these to replace the regular tubes you would find, very satisfied with the result but don't leave them in your pipe after they get wet. Spent about half an hour digging one out

I have a Rossi Rubino pipe made by Savinelli nice pipe but it will not smoke well with out a filter these fit and they are decent filters.

My husband was VERY happy with these filters that I ordered him as a surprise!

TO CLEAN, SOAK IN EVERCLEAR, TEQUILA, VODKA OR ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL AND DRY.THAT WILL REMOVE AROMATIC OILS...........

balsa pipe dry system works well with my Rossi pipe

Excellent filter. Removes a lot of moister from your smoke but doesn't remove any flavor. Would definitely recommend.
5 out of 5
They do a great job absorbing the moisture.
5 out of 5
Purchased the 6mm balsas for my MM Country Gentleman because I'm not a fan of the paper or charcoal filters. They can handle moist flake and even the revered Gawith blends like a champ. If these little guys do this well, I am sure the 9mm are outstanding! I can usually get around 5-10 smokes out of a filter before it needs to meet it's maker. Can't beat the price either.

Great product as always!

I am one who does like a filtered pipe - the Savinelli system works well. I change filter after each smoke as well as clean the pipe.
5 out of 5
My recent purchase of the above pipe was one of the best
pipe decisions I have made. I had always wanted a much larger pipe than standard sized pipes. With proper packing and slow drawing the smoke will last the better part of an hour without relighting. I light it up late afternoon on my deck and enjoy the pipe while reading outside. It just makes for a very pleasant hour of quiet reading. I'd heartily would recommend
this pipe for anyone who would like a longer relaxing smoke.
5 out of 5
These filters work great, they insure a cooler dryer smoke, and don't get soggy like paper filters. I've used them not only in my Savinelli but also my Dr Grabow.
5 out of 5
Outstanding! The only thing I do different is change it after each smoke. The package says after a couple.
5 out of 5
love them. can smoke a least 3 bowls before changing them
3 out of 5
I was disappointed this time as the 6mm filters I received recently are bigger than 6mm filters I ordered several months ago. I can use them, but have to shave them down to be effective.
5 out of 5
Wonderful filters that don't take away from the smoke at all...they don't interfere with the flavor or anything. Highly recommended!
5 out of 5
I love the balsa wood filters that Savinelli has long been famous for in the 6mm size, and these 9mm filters offer the same benefits. The smoke still flows smooth and you lose none of the flavor (something I can't always say when using a 9mm charcoal filter), but you get a great absorber for any moisture as well as a nice cooling and regulating factor that helps with bite. Very satisfying, if you smoke a filter pipe.
5 out of 5
Perfect filter for wicking moisture away during your smoke. If you own a Savinelli or not, this will work well for you in your 6mm filter pipel
4 out of 5
The filters do sop up a lot of moisture and I suppose some of the tars in pipe tobacco. They can be reused, especially if smoking non aromatics.
5 out of 5
I find Savinelli balsa filters to be very effective. They keep small tobacco debris out and take the bite out of bolder tobacco. The balsa filters also keep a pipe cleaner and keep the buildup at a minimum. They are the best filters I have used.
5 out of 5
The best value for the buck. It is not like a complete filter like a charcoal one since it lets smoke go around. It's a triangle shape that fits in your round stem.
The manufacturer says you can soak it in water, let it dry and reuse. However, it is oil entrapped in it and the ends get tarred up. I usually cut the ends of and reuse. Sometimes I let it soak and dry for a couple of days. When it gets too short (exceeds the depth of the stem) I throw it away.
5 out of 5
The best cost effective filter. I prefer the 9 mm rather than the 6mm but both IMO are the best filters. They still let the taste come through unlike the charcoal kind. They give a complete cool and dry smoke. It is a balsa filter round and has groves to let the smoke past on the outside. The manufacture says you can soak it in water, let it dry and reuse.
Gets tarred up on the ends which I just cut off with a razor and reuse till it gets too short.

Verywell satisfied with the service

If one has ever cleaned out the 'tenon' end of a pipe mouthpiece, one would be amazed at all the glop that builds up over time, even after regular pipe cleaner runs through the draft hole/passage. All the more reason to use an effective filter that helps block the gunk but allows a smooth draw. These balsa filters perform that job admirably, absorbing moisture and blocking particles of tobacco better than other filters that I have used.
5 out of 5
These balsa wood filters really work well. Very happy
5 out of 5
I've used the Savinelli System for 19 years and have experimented with the other filters. I would say that the smoke I get from the balsa filter if the greatest.
Cheers,

I have smoked Savinelli Pipes for over thirty years and have tried numerous different pipe filters. The balsa filters by Savinelli are without a doubt the best by far.
5 out of 5
The filters work exactly as advertised, I am currently trying out several different types of filters as well.
Great Customer Service with Pipes and Cigars as always!
5 out of 5
Well made and fits good on all the pipes I had. It is my belief you can use them at least twice. But I use them a lot more. 10 times more. I let them dry out on a lamp though.
Have not tried soaking them in water to dry out and retry and see how far I can take them.
But someone said you can use a paper towel and I tried it and darn worked too. I might try using a cut toothpick wrapped in a paper towel when these get too expensive to buy.

Service is great. Never a problem.

These are my favorite and imho best filters available. They cut down moisture and tongue burn almost to zero and dont effect ease of draw or clarity or taste.

Excellent system.

The filters are great but they are very tight to put into the stem.

Always good prices and fast service

I was using the paper filters in my Savinelli 404. Decided to try these balsa filters that came with the pipe. They catch more of the moisture and junk for an enhanced smoke than the paper filters ever did.

Fabulous little filters

This is an excellent invention. Having bought these filters from P&C twice, I note that there are two designs, one with a triangular cross-section and one with a generally hexagonal cross-section with slots cut in two sides of the hexagon. Both work about equally well for soaking up moisture, eliminating gurgle, noticeably lowering delivered nicotine and keeping ash out of the mouth.
5 out of 5
Good source for high quality products: pipes and cigars. And a Great customer service if you encounter a problem.
5 out of 5
I love these filters. They don't restrict the airflow as much as the average paper filters, and perform just as well if not better. Only difference between smoking my 320 with and/or without is that with there is less 'pipe juice'. If you have a filtered Savinelli, I'd totally recommend you get some!
5 out of 5
I really like these filters.
5 out of 5
If you want the driest smoke especially from a wet aromatic, then you can't go wrong with this best of filters.
4 out of 5
I bought these to try out in my MM cobs. They help to make a real cool smoke & absorb like a sponge to keep the moisture at bay. They can be a bit squishy when you remove them unless you let the pipe rest longer. My loose stems on my cobs did seem to tighten up a bit after using the balsa filter, that's a plus.
5 out of 5
Lets the smoke through will adsorbing the moisture. Genius.
