Works great. I have several kept in multiple locations.

I always order several of these when I place my tobacco order because they are never where I left them. A must-have.

What can go wrong with an aluminum nail smashed on one end? It works.

Unpretentious and gets to job done. Just the way I like it. I love these things.

Love using it as third time ordering this from other site and lost one so ordered this and put in safe place so won't lose it again.

I bought this nail. It was exactly what I wanted and for a good price, but I put off writing a review because it’s just a freaking NAIL, but I’ve gotten like five reminders to review it and honestly I just want it to stop.
If this merchant wasn’t such a nuisance I would say it’s a five star nail. Well, I probably wouldn’t have said anything at all, because once again, ITS JUST A FREAKING NAIL.

Super simple and cheap enough I can have one in every room

This is a very basic pipe tool that does exactly what it was designed to do. It tamps and it scoops. Hard to beat it for the price point. If you want something a little nicer that takes you to the next level, a Czech tool would be the way to go. This pairs well with my cobs. I'm not sure I would use this on my upper end pipes, but that's strictly an aesthetic decision, not a utilitarian one.

Great items! Thanks.

I had three of these that must be at least 35 years old. Lost one and I realized P&C carries them. Ordered 6. They are the most useful and economical and if lost, no tears shed. Grab a few!

Basic and good. Buy one, or a few.

Great product for a low price

Good cheap tamper
5 out of 5
Does exactly what it is supposed to do. A little disappointed to see "made in China" stamped on it. Like, we have to import things like this? Why? Anyway, whatever. It does what you need it to do.

Great pipe tool that does exactly what you need it too. Nice size for most pipes. I have several that I keep across multiple coats and pockets so i always have one on hand
5 out of 5
Works, stays cool.
5 out of 5
I guess you could own a fancy tamper but this is really all you need and the other end cleans out the bowl just fine. I keep many on hand because they seem to vanish.
5 out of 5
Simple, affordable. I lost my first one and used other things like a shear pin but this silver nail is the way to go. I just received my second one and it’s better than the first one, a little longer.

I'm always losing tampers, so I bought several of these.
4 out of 5
Tool works well, but metal is too porous and blackens easily.
4 out of 5
My favorite tamper but it needs a better poker. Still it’s light, easy to pack and clean. I have four or five of them.
BUT they’re made in China. So, until production moves to elsewhere I will not be purchasing more.

Gets the job done. Hides in your pocket. Love the nails. Just ordered another 5 so I have them everywhere.

Perfect for the price. I have several in case I loose them which happens too often.

In few words... it gets the job done, nicely.

Im reminded of rick hacker who said I was once given a very nice dunhill pipe tamper that I lost in three days. All was not lost, however, I still had my horse shoe nail that was given to me at a pipe shop five years ago.

I have made a few similar tools myself but the size and lighter weight of this one is great. An affordable tool that will last a LONG time!

It simply works

Light and just the right size for my smaller cobs.

These are, had none, the best of pipe tool designs. Simple and effective. They seem to be getting hard to find. The only possible better pipe tool is the Shefield (sstainless) pipe knife- but only if you forgot a pipe cleaner to break up a blocked draft!

Works how you would expect. Nothing special but a good solid options for not a lot of cash.

This aluminum pipe nail is a great economical substitute for replacing lost or misplaced tampers. Why buy an expensive one, when you can get one at about 1/4 the price? It functions well as a tamper and the tip easily removes any loose tobacco buildup, between smokes. Quite handy, when a reamer is not readily available. It's light weight and the semi-rounded tip minimizes boring holes in your pocket, when not being used. Even though they don't seem to ever wear out, I bought a few of these to keep as spares.

My go-to pipe nail. I have other exotic styles but I always reach for this one. You can't beat the price and simplicity.

good as what i bought in the 60s

I love it it's a great tool I can carry it in my pocket and not worry about it getting stuck in a pocket knife and with the way my knuckles are in the morning it easy to use for me

It’s a very simple easy to use tamper and scraper. Works like a charm!

My favorite pipe tool. (I smoke Missouri Meerschaums)

The silver nail is a very light, but functional tamper. The other end is flattened and not sharp, so it is good for my pocket. Price and functionality give this a five star in my opinion.

This is a small, handy pipe tool that no pipe smoker should be without!

It's why pockets are on pants.

This aluminum tamper does a fine job with packing after the first light, keeping tobacco firmly in the bowl for an even smoke. They're easily wiped clean with a damp cloth. I store one in my pouch as a spare, tucking it in amongst the tobacco. Otherwise, the nail end may pierce the lining and initiate a tear. I bought a few of them, as they make great spares when my regular pipe tool is not readily available.

Simple, easy to use, and inexpensive enough to have several lying around!

I saw these and thought they would work well. Especially with the interesting shape on the head of the nail. I thought a dollar a piece was a little expensive, but you have to use galvanized outdoor so I thought I'd try them for an outdoor deck I was building. Well, turns out that the head of these nails aren't sharp at all. It made it very difficult to drive them into my pressure treated deck boards. And toe nailing the rails was impossible. I ended up having to finish up with a couple of galvanized 8d nails I found rattling around in the bottom of a mason jar in my shed. I would not recommend these for pressure treated lumber at all. I did have one left over and used it as sort of a makeshift tamper for my pipe though and it worked very well. That funny tip even ended up being useful for scooping out the ash.

Bought a hundred of these for my back patio. A hundred dollars seemed expensive, but you have to use galvanized fasteners when your work is going to be exposed to the elements. And I got free shipping. I thought the tip looked kind of cool, like some new design over a traditional nail, but I gave it a shot anyway. Turns out that because of this type of point, it required a lot more effort to drive this into a pressure treated 2x6. And toe nailing them was impossible. If I had it to do over again, I would just buy a pound of galvanized 8d nails at the hardware store for like a tenth of what these cost. One good thing, though is that after my deck was finished, I had one of these nails left over and it worked really good as a kind of make shift tobacco pipe tamper. That funny point kind of made it easy to scoop out all the ash when I was done.

I’ve been buying these bargain tampers at P&C for many years. They do their expected job, are easy to clean and never wear out. I keep them in my cars and workshop, along with a spare in my pouch. These pipe nails are extremely lightweight and tend to get lost easily, especially when doing yard work. That’s why I always keep spares on hand. Best of all, they help prevent my quality pipe tools from getting lost.

Perfect tool...Its Light, and has dual purpose.

What can I say - it does exactlt what i wanted it to do, and the price was awesome!!! What more do you need, get one!

There's nothing to go wrong with these tools. They're solid, just the right size, and do what they're supposed to. Tip: Get a handfull of these when you're ordering tobacco. They won't add to your shipping cost that way. You'll lose them long before you ever wear them out. I'm convinced the pipe tool gnomes come around every night to steal pipe tools.

does whats it is intended to do so i always buy multiple

There is very little to say about this pipe nail, except to say it does it's job to perfection and is quite handy to use. I have several of them since I have a tendency to misplace one now and then. I see no need to purchase anything more expensive.
5 out of 5
They're solid, cheap, and get the job done. My favorite pipe tool by far.
I buy several at once because I tend to lose pipe tools. The end of it resembles a spoon but it isn't concave like a scoop. I just use it to soften the ash up so I can dump it halfway through a smoke (I don't like the taste of burning ash)
They are best used as a tamper but that's all you really need. Cheap enough to buy several at once. Don't have to worry about them falling apart on you. I'd recommend it top any pipe smoker

What can you say about an aluminum flat point nail. It is durable and useful.

This silver pipe nail is my favorite pocket pipe tamping and mild scraping tool.
Came in a bundle so I got it for a very nice price.
Thanks Pipes and Tobacco.

They're inexpensive and handy to have, I keep 1 in each car plus 1 on the porch, If I loose 1 I have spares.

it's a great pipe nail. I thought at first it was made of plastic, but I believe it's aluminum.

Always try to have one of these scattered around and in every coat pocket.

This pipe tool is nice, economical and efficient. It's a good addition to one's pipe accessory collection.

...with these pipe nails. They are cheap, so you can buy a few to keep in your car, coat pocket, pipe bag, etc. And if you lose them, no love lost.
I will say though that the tamping head may be a little big for tapered bowls. It's not a deal breaker though. That could be modified with a little ingenuity if your favorite pipe falls in that category.

As well as any other

Great value, does what it says. Simple and efficient.

What can I say? Simple little device that's been around since Moses was a baby. Lightweight, rustproof aluminum that fits easily into your pocket or pouch. Sure beats dirty or burned fingers for tamping your pipe.

Nothing fancy...its just right.

These are rather crudely made, but they work great snd get the job done. And thats what I think matters.

Cheap,Easy and Plentiful! What else is there to say? it's a Pipe Nail! Inexpensive enough to leave one everywhere I go and one to carry. They're like basic pipe cleaners, not pretty but gets the job done.
5 out of 5
This is good at what it does, excellent size on the tamper size and the scraper is decent. For the money you can't go wrong but I would recommend spending a dollar more and order the Czech tool

They are exactly what I was after!

Easy to use and great value. No moving parts. 100% recyclable, if that's your thing.

This tool is very functional and sleek. I very much like this no frill tool and will buy another as a spare just in case I loose one. No problems here

cheep price . I loose or misplace a lot of pipe tools , with this price I can have plenty of extras lying around .

It is what it is ... a quick easy nail to carry in your pocket without anything sticking in your leg lol or cluttering your pocket up. I tend to keep other tools at home or office.

I don't normally write reviews, but I felt I needed to provide feedback on this product. I have had a pipe nail previously (just like the one shown in the picture), but gave it to a friend. So, I ordered a new one to replace it.
Don't get me wrong, it obviously will still perform the basic tasks of tamping and scraping. But the QC on this is terrible - it should not have passed. It is clearly hand ground, and then sand-blasted. Nothing is circular, symmetrical, or even. It looks like a 7th grade shop project from the reject bin. I am reluctant to use it to scrape my bowl due to the odd & uneven curve of the "spoon" end.
It's not a huge deal due to the small price tag, but I would still like to find a quality replacement for the pipe nail I used to have.

Use this Little tool to keep in my pocket so I have one with me no matter where I am you never know when you might be able to stop for a smoke

I'll be getting another of these! I've been using the multi-tool for a while and picked up one of these on a whim, but it works so much better for me that I carry this all the time and leave the other with the pipe stand at home. It is light-weight, simple, easy to clean, and very functional.
5 out of 5
As simple as it gets and does a great job. Just sorry I didn't buy the five pack.

Why did I buy just one of these. These things are great and how can ya argue with the price. Best little pipe tool I've used!
