Oh, my. I ordered two tins of this black Cavendish, based on my experience with Seattle pipe club’s Columbia River—which is fantastic.
I smoke black Cavendish only in my meerschaums. I find that the sweetness goes very well with the chalky clay flavor of a meerschaum. I’ve smoked a lot of black Cavendish in my day, most are just OK, and the good ones are usually sticky sweet and goopy— but they can taste great, so I do occasionally return to them, and I enjoy it despite the many drawbacks.
So with great anticipation I opened the tin and was greeted with a wonderful aroma. I grabbed a nice sized pinch, and realized that it wasn’t sticky or wet. I filled up my beloved Sevket and lit.
At first, I couldn’t believe that it could possibly be as good as I thought it was. Then as I smoked further and further I realized this is the greatest black cavendish I’ve ever smoked in my life. It is not wet, it is not super sweet, and it is not sticky. It also has a fabulous flavor and aroma. Very mild but loaded with flavor. it burns well, evenly, and does not often go out— and you will be greeted with clouds of beautiful white smoke. And when you are done, there is Very little moisture at the bottom of the bowl. (My wife said “ oh my God, what is that? It smells fantastic!”)
Everyone uses their own adjectives to describe the aroma of a pipe tobacco, I’ll go with vanilla, chocolate, a little bit of raisin or plum, and noticeably (and remarkably) a straight tobacco taste as well.
For those of us who stubbornly include a straight black Cavendish in our rotation despite its ubiquitous drawbacks, you can rejoice. This is a very high-quality and thoughtfully blended tobacco. Bravo Seattle Pipe Club!

This is a wonderful, smoky, cool burning tobacco. Def recommend.

Reminds me of SPS Barbados Plantation minus the rum topping Very easy smoke, good moisture out of tin, and a nice room note. Does not bite or burn hot at all. Will definitely purchase again and add to rotation. A must for black cavy lovers and aero smokers. This was First Seattle Pipe Club blend I’ve tried but will not be my last. Eager to try their English blends too.

A very good quality tobacco - smooth smoking - no bite - a nice all day smoke. I will surely buy some more when this is done.

Seattle Pipe Club Harbor Lights is on my short list of 3 favorites. No bite, packs and burns great, and great aroma. Harbor Lights is my go to tobacco. Hearth & Home Very Nice and Captain Black Royal are my other 2 choices. Tom

If you were looking for an even burning pipe full of goodness this is the mix for you. Pretty mellow for the most part as long as you don't rush the burn you wont get the bite. Best enjoyed in the early evening, take a load off and reminisce through the thoughts of the day one pull at a time. And the room note is well, "Very Nice"

It's got a full yet mellow flavor, The right amount of moisture for a Cavendish, and a very pleasant aroma. I would recommend this tobacco to anyone. It's very nice!

I'm new to pipes so I only gave this 4stars as I don't feel qualified to give a well informed critique...that said, Very Nice is indeed Very Nice. Wifey loves the aroma and likes the room note. It smokes very smooth, fruity and sweet but not overly so. It arrived as a part of a few sampler packs I purchased and is so far in a 3way tie for favorite with CAO Black and Villager Tropical.

Being a Cavendish aficionado was saving this for last of my 5 tests. This is a black, trim cut, semi-moist tobacco. It packs easy, burns even, long lasting and remarkably soft to the taste. Been searching for just the right tobacco for over a year now! If you like a mild, aromatic, experience, this is it. Five stars from this happy Pipe smoker!
