I’ve been smoking Black n Gold pipe tobacco for 20 years. It’s my go-to favorite without a doubt. Smooth and no bite. A wonderful aroma. The packaging is well done and it arrived here in good condition.

Was pretty much out of tobacco and my next order had not arrived, so I went to the local head shop searching for some pipe tobacco. They had a fair assortment or your Super Value and I tried the Black & Gold. This may be the best tobacco I have ever smoked. I smoked pipes over fifty years ago and recently picked it up again. Nothing I have tried competes with your Black & Gold. Burns cool right to the bottom with no bite at all. I just ordered the 12 oz bag and will keep the Black & Gold on hand.

A very good value for the price. This tobacco is sufficiently flavorful and mild for daily use. I find occasional sticks and rough leaf fragments in the mix but don’t consider this a significant problem. I have re-ordered Super Value several times.

Super Value Black & Gold has become my go-to tobacco. I usually mix it with a touch of Super Value Black Cavendish for a full flavored smoke. Aroma is outstanding. I can smoke this all night without any bite.

Tried this brand to see if it was comparable to Captain Black. It is a good comparison, at a smaller cost. I have been smoking this brand for a few years and I enjoy it.

Good tobacco for the money and substitute when I run out of my captain black. The burn rate is a little faster, if not contained in bag or pouch before smoking.

It may be cheap but it's enjoyable to smoke....

This is my always-keep-on-hand usual tobacco. Very satisfying - especially for the price! While I do love the premiums, this is the one I smoke most of due to the cost. I have been smoking this for years and have never had a bag that wasn't in good condition. As is to be expected with a "budget" blend, you will find the occasional stem, but this is the one I fill the jar on my desk with - not impressive nor complex, but good and a cheap smoke!

Nice and smooth

The tobacco when arrived was dry and brittle. I had to moisten it up a little before smoking. It has a pleasant aroma but burns very quick. For me its not an all day tobacco.

Several years ago I switched from Captain Black to Super Value B&G and have really enjoyed the smooth smoking characteristics along with the cost savings. I also mix a little Super Value Black Cavendish in with the B&G.

First off I'd like to express my sympathy regarding the absurd restrictions & taxes our government has imposed on tobacco retailers. Now, to the point - I'm trying to find a lower cost alternative to "Black Lace" in bulk. I am convinced it is the only pipe tobacco the actually has NO bite, and it is absolutely the most delightfully aromatic smoke I've found in my 40+ years of pipe smoking. Ever since my local neighborhood tobacconist was forced out of business, I've been purchasing Black Lace from one of your competitors (located in VA with a Mac/Scottish name) @ a rather steep price that keeps rising. Interestingly, the custom blend I used to get from my local tobacconist was also called Black Lace; formerly Black Velvet. Here is the description my current online retailer provides: "Dark and rich fire-cured Cavendish is discreetly seasoned to create an exceptionally mild smoke that's cool and flavorful with a delightfully sweet aroma". I'd be happy to send you a sample if that is within acceptable protocol. One thing I can say for sure is that it will sell very well, as many potential pipe smokers have stopped because of the bite that is inherent to most tobaccos. No matter how delightful a tobacco might be to smoke, no one wants that "Carolina Reaper Hot Pepper Tongue" afterwards. There is none of that with Black Lace. Your Super Value Black and Gold smokes well, but does not finish well - Carolina Reaper ! Ugh!!

SMOOTH SMOKE AND A GREAT VALUE. WHO COULD ASK FOR ANYTHING MORE

I bought this looking for that everyday tobacco. I also bought a pouch of Amphora Black Cavendish. I liked the Amphora a little better, but the price difference will probably mean that I will smoke more S.V. Black and Gold. Both pouches had to spend about a week in a jar to take the heat and bite away. But after that they were great.

I am not sure if I have reviewed this one or not but I can tell you this one is a pain. So lets start with the beginning, taste. This one does taste good with having a distinction between the vanilla and chocolate type flavor that comes through almost like going to a coffee shop that has fresh chocolate pastries coming out of the oven. The room not is similar in this fact also filling the room with the flavor notes as you sit or walk about the room. Now for where it all went bad. As you smoke the amount of moisture that is in this blend is so high that you will never get through a bowl without letting the tobacco sit for at least three hours. If you are like me and smoke a pipe throughout the day on a rotation the last thing you want to do is have to look at the clock and try to figure out when you should set the tobacco out so it will be ready when the time comes for a nice relaxing smoke. If you fail to do this the moisture will fill up the bottom of the bowl and start its way into the stem making it a pain to clean. The other pain is the resting time on the rotation before you can even smoke it again. I think the longest I had to let some of my pipes sit was about 8-9 days compared to the normal 6-7 before they were dry enough to smoke again without the risk of damaging the pipe bowl and stem to a corking affect. If they were able to drop the moisture level down by 50% I would buy this one again just because the flavor and room note was there. In the meantime I am going to have to pass on this one.

Great all day smoke

Honestly I was surprised when I first lit this little gem out of my washington pipe. It's taste is nice and the room note is very nice speaking you are buying a cheap/value tobacco. I think I am going to buy the bulk since I like it so much.

Black and Gold is my favorite pipe tobacco and Super Value brand is indeed a good value, in fact your website has the best price for this product that I have been able to find. I usually buy 2 or 3 large bags per order so that with the shipping cost included this is still cheaper than the local drug store.

OK smoke. Does not have tongue bite like it is advertised. Can be tasty and aromatic at times. I think SV is the best of the value aromatics. Will try some other ones later.

Although not a premium tobacco, this blend is mild and satisfying. I try other brands from time to time but always come back to the Black and God. I let it dry awhile before smoking as it is usually somewhat moist, but other than that it's excellent, especially for the price.

This is a very smooth n mild smoke,,this would be great for a new pipe smoker to try out.the aroma is very mild,,the taste is mild as well.im betting this could be used for mixing in other strong type tobaccos.burns fairly cool and with no bite(through a non filter pipe).

Good decent smoke. Slight good aroma. Can live with it. What I like about it is is there is virtually no tongue bite, at least to some others that I smoked, that virtually set my tongue on fire and even cracked it, and I smoke pipes like a chimney.

Black and Gold is a very nice tobacco. Smokes well with minimal lighting. No bite for me. Balanced moisture, but that seems to change per lot from what I read in these reviews. Good flavor for adding your own additional topping. Will buy again when it's in stock. Everything I wanted is out of stock.

Decided to try a different type of Super Value , and liked the flavor and aroma of it even better than my usual. Very mild too, and doesn't see to "gunk up" the pipe as often. I've just submitted an order for more.

This pipe tobacco is a little more throat biting than Capt Black. I mixed the two together after tasting the Super Value alone and it smoothed out but you know it's in there

I have smoked Black and Gold (with a little Latakia...and sometimes a pinch of Perique.

Great value for the money. Clean, honest, undoctored taste, burns well. When Walgreen stopped stocking it, P&C did the world a favor by picking it up. I only hope this line of blends when the new FDA rules go into effect at the end of 2016, I’d be stranded without it! Probably I’d start buying my tobacco from Canada.

Looking to save a few extra dollars? Its a good affordable smoke. Its a bit moist, possibly too much P.G. in it? I've had the Black Cavendish and the Vanilla which are also the same as this. Good, not great.

When I started smoking a pipe, I used Captain Black. When it became too expensive, I switched to a similar CVS store brand. When CVS became too PC to sell tobacco, I switched to a Wallgreens brand (Burly and Black). When they stopped selling that I found Black and Gold here at P&C. I've been happy with this choice. The price seems to keep going up, but it's still a decent value.
