My first experience with 601 was with the original 601 Blue. I was absolutely blown away by the flavor. Since then I've enjoyed many of their cigars and was pumped to see the release of a new cigar - 601 Steel.
This is a Nicaraguan puro coming from the famed La Zona factory. The wrapper is a dark and oily Habano Oscuro capa, surrounding a bevy of Nicaraguan long-fillers and binder. The profile begins with a "pop" of red and black pepper notes, then the cigar settles in to a rich medley of cocoa, espresso, sweet wood, nuts, and cream. As a fan of Erik Espinosa's cigars. I was still surprised by how bold, robust and complex 601 Steel is. If you like your cigars with some kick, don't pass this one up.
