smooth tobacco
This is probably the smoothest smoking tobacco I've ever smoked in my pipe. I can see why Mark Twain might smoke it. Thanks.......

Samuel Clemens was a comedian
Samuel Clemens, also known as Mark Twain, was an entertainer by trade. He was an honest man who enjoyed a good laugh. This tobacco, I had hoped would encapsulate his more sophisticated Eastern Missouri side. As far as tobacco goes, it's okay at best. If Ole Mark Twain were alive today, I'd definitely sit and smoke a pipe with the man. But maybe another well rounded, stouter in flavor tobacco.

Good Tobacco
Good tobacco. It has an unusual (different) flavor and aroma. Satisfying smoke. Moisture content and burn is very good. An old standby that should not be overlooked.

A great aromatic.
This is a superior aromatic. I wonder what took me so long to try it. It is a new favorite.

Took several smokes to acquire taste.
Not great but it is good after all. Low on nicotine, for a calm and thoughtful time with your own mind.

A Very Good Tobacco
This was the second time I tried this pipe tobacco and I still think it has fine qualities. Never hot and it is so aromatic. I got comments from strangers that it was a very nice pipe tobacco. It is very mild & that's what I like!

Very good
It is a good pipe tobacco, you must realize by now I'm not very snooty piper.

Easy smoke
It seemed a bit dry and seemed to smoke a touch hot but it was mild. Not bad as an alternative to Lane MV-1000 or 1-Q that I usually smoke.

I like this tobacco and my wife likes the room note, so it is a winner!

Best aromatic there is.
Nice, smooth, tasty smoke.

This is a wonderful, non-complex blend that is easily an all day smoke.
I picked up a few pouches of this based off the reviews. I was looking for something mellow and smooth and this delivered. It doesn't change much as you smoke it so it's not a blend for those looking for a lot of depth or complexity but it is a great blend for smoking while you are reading or just relaxing.

Pleasant surprise.
Not what I was looking for, but a very pleasant surprise. Thin ribbon cut packs easily and stays lit well. The ouch nose definitely has the subtle plum and dried fruit notes. IMHO doesn't really make it to the palate, but the flavor was quite nice. not like "cigarettes" at all. Smoke was nice; wasn't to thin and wasn't just a blue-grey that disappears quickly. It was Definitely one to have in the rotation.

Delightfully aromatic tobacco
This is a slow burning tobacco and the room note is amazing!!!! This might be my new everyday smoke!

Cranberry Bliss!
Upon opening this rustic looking pouch, an aroma of delicious jellied cranberries filled my senses. The smoke aroma is mild, but very much like the aroma of the freshly opened pouch. For the price it's a winner. It does burn a bit quick, but that just gives me an excuse to load up another cobb and sink into the cranberry bliss again! I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving day and weekend because this will be my go to for the occasion!

Was my all-time favorite
This used to be my favorite years ago after trying many others. However, my recent experience for the last few months has been dismal--all the pouches I bought locally were dried out, no taste and more like dried out grass. I guess SWR had a lot of inventory that just sat in warehouses, don't know....however, I did just purchase locally a pouch and..WOW!..it's back to where I remember! I just did order a canister from P&C and, hopefully, it will be moist, flavorful and as great as it used to be. If not, I will give up on SWR Aromatic.....

A nice change
Again a pleasant surprise very balanced a mellow a cool aromatic smoke which is sure to please someone looking for a lighter change with a subtle aftertaste and no bite.

Not bad, but others are better
This is a Danish-style aromatic. There are others that are similar which I prefer. This one I do like better blended with some burley.

I was recommended this tobacco by a friend in England actually. I finally gave it a try. Nice smoke, pleasant aroma.

Terrific Stuff
Sweet, cool, slow-burning. Everything pipe tobacco ought to be. Love it!

Great Blend!
I had the chance to try this both of the Mark Twain blends, as well as the sutliff Mark Twain blend. They are all equally great blends. They smoke cool, burn down to ash, stay lot well, very good Burley nuttiness, with slightly sweet taste from the VA and whiskey topping. They rate right up there with many of the old OTC, or " Codger" blends. I'd recommend this one for everyone to experience. It won't knock your socks off with complexity, bit it a great all day smoke!

Best all around every day
I've been through most of the tobacco's over the years and this always comes back to the front. It's the best. Whether it's for a relaxing smoke at the end of the day, walking around a junk yard all day, or anything else it will never disappoint. It had a small bite that matches up perfect to a glass of wine or even a cranberry/apple cider. Perfect. It's not overly aromatic like the fru fru but is very well balanced and has a great room note as well as a nice beard note.

Not compex but enjoyable
Samuel Clemens, the man who gives us a glimpse into the 19th century when we crack the tomes he laid pen to. And more than an amatuer smoker as well. So when P&C released their line of pipe tobacco named in his honor, I had to pick up some, except it was always out of stock! I got lucky this go around and snagged a pouch of original. To be completely honest, upon first glance and smoke I was disappointed. Coming from my normal habits of premium Virginia blends, the bag full of burley and whiskey topping failed to wow me. Now after burning several bowls, I am coming around to respect this almost otc blend more. It is a simple, american burley blend topped with whiskey/bourbon. Lightly aromatic, lots of burley smoke and a good smoke for chores around the yard or to puff idley while tinkering in the workshop. This is not a deeply contemplative blend that you can puff on while solving the worlds problems but it is a no nonesense straightforward all day puffing blend.

It was a nice even smoke ,but it had a bit of a bite.which turned me off. I have been smoking Capt. Black Original with no bite at all,so I'm going back. But all in all I know others who love it ! You may love it too,it can't hurt to try it.

Not Bad
This was actually my first ever pipe tobacco I ever tried. I gave it another go again recently so I could be objective. It is very smooth and has no tongue bite, big plus. All you really taste when you smoke it is the strong casing. Sort of like a sweet vanilla milkshake. The room note was very pleasant. All that said, it is an OTC and I’m not an everyday smoker so I like the nicer pricier blends. But if you are on a budget or an every day pipe smoker you could certainly do worse.

Struck out.
Was in a pinch and purchased this at a local store. I was hoping it would have some aromatic flavor. It did not. It did have a slight pouch note, perhaps a whiff of vanilla. However when smoked it had nothing but the taste of grass. To be more specific it tasted like moss. Totally one dimension with one taste. Even the retro hit was nasty. This is not for those who want a real aromatic or those who desire some hint of flavor in their tobacco besides grass.

Good anytime...
Missing the fine edge that is present in more expensive blends but still a very good smoke. A good change of pace that’s easy to pack, light and smoke to the bottom. A classic American blend that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Venerable old timer...smoke with respect...
Nice change of pace from more robust and pricier blends. Easy light, easy to smoke and keep lit. Tasty but mild.not overwhelmingly aromatic...just very pleasant...she says it’s OK. There’s a good reason it’s been a marker mainstay for so long...besides, didn’t Sir Walter sort of start the tobacco thing.

Decent anytime tobacco
This was a good OTC easy smoke for anytime of the day. A quick break or just to pass the time, with a pretty pleasant room note that won't offend anyone.

Almost too mild
A nice lighter change up, but I prefer more full-bodied blends. Certainly not a bad smoke, would be a great starting place for someone new to pipes. Pro: the wife said the smoke didn’t ‘stink’! Con: that’s because the flavor isn’t very complex.

Price of an OTC but smokes like a Premium
I love this tobacco. For a working man's smoke this one is so close to perfect that you could smoke it all day in the shop or just relaxing after work in your recliner. Opening the pouch you get a nice little note of almost a grapy leaf smell. This was by far one of the easiest to light tobaccos I have tried this year. Easy to char and easy to keep an ember without having to feel like you are breathing a wind tunnel through your pipe. I'll definitely be ordering a pouch or two of this one for the shop every month to keep on hand along with the premium tins. So if you are wondering whether or not to order this one I say give it a try you might just like it as much as I do and make it a staple for OTC tobacco to keep on hand.

A Working Mans Shop Tobacco for Sure
I have tried this tobacco in two different pipes and the result is the same in both. When lit you get a nice bloom of smoke and smooth flavor of the tobacco itself. The flavor itself reminds me of the smell that you get when you drop in a fine tobacco shop, woodsy with a little hint of liquor. Though I would not say as strong as brandy but more of a cognac, the type that you can sip all day and never be unsatisfied. Overall I really, really enjoy this one for a everyday working smoke but not one of those that you would use winding down at the end of the day. Goes great with coffee though.

Nice everyday smoke
This was my first experience with Air Walter Aromatic and I was really happy with it. Nice arkma, unlike a lot of Cavendish aromatics it had some depth and body to it without any tongue bite. All in all a great everyday smoke and one I will visit regularly.

Great tobacco- unchanged!
SWR Aromatic is just about my favorite drug store tobacco. Brings back happy memories whenever I open up the pouch. Sweet, mild and great flavor and aroma. This one, and the return of Amphora have made me extremely happy! So glad I found Pipesandcigars.com!

An overall pleasure to smoke with a great taste and a very pleasant room note.
Been smoking pipe infrequently for 10+ years but recently started to get more versed in the quality and types of tobacco. Ordered a few blends that have stood the test of time. This one was one that I immediately enjoyed from the pouch note to the end of the bowl! The nose on this is of brown sugar with cocoa and the fruity liqueur used in the casing. Taste includes chocolate, some vanilla and I tasted some sweet orange. Surprised at the overall balance of taste throughout the whole bowl as well as how cool this burned. An overall pleasure to smoke with a great taste and a very pleasant room note.

Worth trying.
In all my many years, I had never tried this because it was an over the counter blend. This was a huge mistake because this is a very good blend. It has taste, but not overpowering.

Good daily smoke
I'm fairly new to the piping world, but was pleasantly surprised by this blend. This is probably my favorite drugstore blend I've tried so far. This could easily be an all day smoke. Fills well, stays lit, mild taste, little to no tongue bite. Would recommend anyone to try if you haven't.

Lets just be friends!
Relatively new to pipe smoking and have started serious sampling of different blends. I have smoked this blend once and find it to be unimpressive yet a peaceful smoke. Nothing harsh and maybe I'm missing something because I'm still new to the greater perspective of large numbers of blends, but this blend is nice. Which is why I rated it 3 stars.
3 out of 5
Not for me
I've heard mixed reviews and decided to try. For me it was a very temperamental tobacco. To me it seemed to want to be packed perfect and would fight. It also left a strange aftertaste and could not pinpoint it to the tobacco or the pipe. Many love it, I will probably come back to it in a while.
5 out of 5
A classic in all aspects.
Excellent mild smoke, with very pleasant aroma and taste.

Doesn't Quite Fully Live Up to the Hype
I'm a relatively novice pipe smoker and bought this based on reviews and word of mouth. In my opinion, this isn't as good compared to some of the Lane varieties I've grown accustomed to and some of the Sutliff blends I smoke. It's not a bad tobacco...it just doesn't work for me.
5 out of 5
Found My Go To
Well I just found my new go to tobacco. I wasn't really looking for a mainstay but the subtlety and smoky sweetness out of my corncob is all I've ever wanted in a smoke. I will surely be buying a lot of this.

Pleasant aroma, but a little peppery smoke
Pleasant aroma, but a little too pepper-y for me.

Old world quality that is very pleasantly reminiscent of the past
This tobacco is a definite winner with flavor and room note! Smokes cool and burns consistent with no bite. Definitely going to be one of my regular everyday blends. Has an old world quality that is very pleasantly reminiscent of the past.

I really wanted to like this
I wanted to try this tobacco for some time, and I did last night. Unfortunately, it started to make the back of my throat feel quite strange after I started smoking it. I had to empty the bowl and switch to a different brand as this was just a strange sensation that I had never had in my pipe tobacco years. I will give it another try and see if I have the same experience as I would really like to like this. It has a nice room note, but if it messes with my throat and makes it uncomfortable, it is going in the trash.

I like liquor as a flavoring much better than the "candy bar" approach. Try this one, you'll like it.

not my cup of tea
I'm very fond of Sir Walter Raleigh, but I won't be buying any more of aromatic. It bites and I didn't like the taste. I'll stick with the regular, thanks.

nice and strong old fashion
Nice but strong ,pretend to be aromatic but i would not consider this as aromatic, mellow yes,it smokes fine in medium size briar pipe(i used old Danish) and giving long ,almost endless smoking time in meer medium size pipe for some reson and probably would not stay in my rotation longer as i do like light roast and small size pipes,my preferences 1"tall pipe,so i am going from this perspective, give it a try, seems it gets stronger with time.

Very satisfyed
Get this Aromatic pouch and first bowl was smooth and bold thick cool smoke( i used prince shape within),very satisfying. But to my my test same brand Regular is more Aromatic to me.Oh,well,it s good, nice cut also, lights up from a single spark and burns till,no bites,no hits, very surprised by,would be on my constant rotation.give it a try, seems like a classic old fashion burly cut.

Nice Smoke
I hadn't smoked any S.W.R. in a very long time so I bought a pouch to try and found it as pleasant as I remember it. Nice aroma, burns well with a mild bite that lets you know you smoked some quality burley.

Sir Walter Ralrigh Aeromatic
It has an Aeromatic room note with a normal Burley taste. To me it is like smoking SWR regular. Easy to light and cool on the tongue.

PLEASING ROOM NOTE....THE END.
Definately needs to dry for a few days. Afterwards, it lights up nice and has a good room note. Not many other redeeming qualities about this one, it has a distinct burning wood taste, smokes hot, and will bite. This blend is not for me, I will turn to Borkum Riff Original Mixture before this any day.

No-Nonsense Aromatic
I mostly smoke aromatics but also dabble in non-aromatics. Although I do enjoy sweet tobaccos immensely, I really wanted a no-nonsense kind of aromatic that provided some sweetness but not overkill. Very nutty and slightly sweet. Does have a slight bitterness to it, but I actually kind of like it.

Good but inconsistent
Up and down on this one. First bowl will be sweet and enjoyable, if a little mild. Next bowl will bite my tongue and inside of my mouth. Never know which to expect. It always leaves a nice aftertaste and has a great room note, however.

I remember the distinct mellow experience when I was a younger man first starting a pipe aficionado experience.
