Hearth and Home champion
In this battle in my opinion Hearth and Home definitely wins. I'll be finishing the tub. As for the Prince Albert it just didn't do it for me so I resealed it at will save it for emergency rations. I'm not really refined on how to explain the nuances of these 2 tobaccos.

Greetings, Ok we all know
Greetings, Ok we all know the company was sold and in 2021 and production was moved to the Dominican republic. Its not your Grandpa's Prince Albert but it is still very Good with one huge drawback. You never know how much PG they have put in it and you may have to leave it sit after opening it for a few days to a month. With that being said ... Wait it out and you wont be sorry. The cocoa is not as strong but the burley will shine through as the bowl burns down. Its frustrating but yet it is a very rewarding smoke one can smoke all day long.

My first tobacco
An American classic. While I will never be just a one tobacco man, I start each and every day with two bowls of the Prince. It is smooth and flavorful. This is the tobacco I first started smoking 30 years ago, and it is still providing comfort like an old friend.

Bad Replacement for Albert, but Okay tobacco otherwise
4 stars if you're just talking about being a decent tobacco. 2 stars if you're really wanting to replace prince Albert with it. It lacks the slight nutty sweet hints of Prince Albert. The room note of the Prince Andrew does have those nutty notes but not as sweet as Albert, and it's just in the waft, while Albert gives it to you in the mouth as well. I just tried combining it with a Black Cavendish to try to sweeten it up a little, but it stayed too ... sharp, for lack of a better word. maybe parfaiting it with a cherry tobacco might work. I definitely plan on having to mix this one to be able to enjoy it. If I was stranded somewhere with just this, I bet i'd get used to it, but I would be a little bummed out. I've just been smoking a year, but I have smoked about 40 bowls of prince albert, and smoked over 200 bowls of over 100 different tobaccos. So take this review for what it's worth.

TOBACCO
I have smoked this tobacco for years....after Bourbon Street discontinued production. This tobacco became unavailable around a year ago. I prefer to purchase by the pouch, but that does not seem available at this time. Had I been able to purchase a pouch , I would have given a 5 star rating. Thank You

Really nice to bring back an Icon. Lights and burns better than old Prince however to me it does not have the full flavor of the old Prince. Enjoyed the new Prince though, it's close just a little lighter. Remember 70 years ago a pile of empty Prince Albert tins behind my grandfathers garage, a truly loyal fan!

New To Burley?
Why would anybody need or want a review of PA?? An absolute favorite of many burly lovers and a go to change of pace for others. Haven't tried it? Hard to believe but I guess there might be some beginners looking for guidance. So, my suggestion would be, buy a small pack and start by layering a sprinkle in your favorite whatever and increase the dose until you become aware of the PA. Then jump in feet first and decide if you like an old world burley.

Love the Taste
As I have smoked pipes for many years, I am officially of age to be called a codger. I have smoked many different types of pipe tobaccos including many aromatics and English blends. The older I get, the more I like brands like Prince Albert. It is a great tobacco which in my opinion is between Carter hall and SWR in flavor. I actually enjoy all three. So, if you want to smoke something that is similar to a fruit salad this brand is not for you. If you love old fashioned tobacco, you can't go wrong with PA.

Very good match prince albert...flavor
Very good match prince albert...flavor has a little subtle hint of virginia....not a bad thing..also burns a little longer than prince Albert as it is not as dry but that also leads to several relights. I usually let some dry in a zip lock bag to remedy that. All in all it's by no means a "bad" blend. 'Tis all I have been smoking really. So stay puffing my friends!

This was my first pipe
This was my first pipe tobacco and is my favorite for smoking everyday. I do change it up a little...but I always go back to prince Albert pipe tobacco. If somethings not broken why tamper with it...my father used to smoke this as well so it has stood the test of time and I'm looking forward to smoking it more as time goes on.

What can I say, this
What can I say, this is a classic, fantastic burn, and flavor. The reason is simple: prince albert. I was impressed with how quickly it arrived. I was trying to order from many other websites but due to the unfortunate politics and policy of my state, was unable. But with a little additional effort these guys managed to deliver. I am pleased and relieved.

2 great tobaccos...if u like burley that is..these are my favorites
I am torn between both of these burley blends. The prince Albert is a little drier than the prince Andrew which is not a bad thing all together.....the moisture content of prince Andrew allows you to smoke it slower and enjoy the flavor..the prince Albert being a little drier, smokes quicker....flavor wise I prefer prince Albert but it's counterpart, prince Andrew is not lacking in flavor by any way. I give both a 5 out of 5.

The Prince is BACK!
So glad that P&C are once again hosting HRH Prince Albert. Couldn't be found anywhere for the last several months. My grandfather smoked it, and the aroma brings back memories. Mild, a little chocolatey, smooth burning. I love this stuff! The "matches" and clones were OK, but not like the real deal. Super every-day smoke.

My desert island tobacco. Not necessarily my favorite or what I would consider the "best" pipe tobacco, but it's that I could smoke exclusively for the rest of my life and I would be perfectly fine with that. Bringing home the past
Just received and tried my 1st purchase of Prince Albert. It immediately brought my grandfather back to me, all the wonderful memories of being on his farm and spending summers fishing , winters hunting with him and his almost constant lit pipe filled with Prince Albert. As for the tobacco it's self , I really am enjoying the cool smoke and flavor and can see it being an all day enjoyment.

I finally let him out!
I purposely avoided OTC brands throughout my first 3 years of piping. I am glad to see this PA was back in stock and received my first tub in the mail today. Out of the can it smells like boozy tobacco. Tastes nothing like that though. Its very straight forward, mild, simple, slightly sweet, the perfect blend for simple times. Carter Hall is next on my list. This is not an aromatic tobacco, but the room note is very pleasant!

Not an exact match..
Not an exact match to Prince Albert, but pretty close. IMHO Prince Albert has a more pronounced cocoa flavor than this does, and this is ribbon cut while PA is cross cut. This burley blend is a great smoke on its own, and is definitely worth a try, especially since Middleton has been having supply issues getting product to market.
5 out of 5
Different smokes for different folks
P.A. had always been my favorite for over 70 years and now it is not available. I have called Middleton to see if they are going to produce it , but can't get a straight answer. I really miss the Prince and trying many other blends, but none compare to P.A. in my opinion. What a shame if another American classic bites the dust.

Similar but different than Prince Albert
The pluses. This is a very tasty tobacco. As a 20 year Prince Albert smoker it is similar, but different, like your wife using your mothers recipe, it does not quite come out the same. Smooth burning with little bite as an all day smoke. This does not have as stems like you will occasionally find in Prince Albert. Now for the negatives. This is a ribbon cut, so you have to pack it differently than Prince Albert. There is a learning curve, with relights more often required especially in smaller bowl pipes. I would definitely purchase again as a change from Prince Albert or should Prince Albert go the way of the chorded telephone and Gillette trac two razor blades, in other words, discontinued.

Complexly simple!
Outstandingly simple. It isn't anything complex but that's what makes this so nice. I have already decided that this will be permanently in my rotation. I almost don't want anything else now! I could seriously have this for the rest of my life and I would be completely satisfied!

I always come back to Prince Albert. Great all day smoke. No Bite. And great price.

It's a Draw
Both of these are in my daily tobacco rotation. Albert is slightly nuttier, and ready to load. Andrew takes a little prep and drying time. That's the biggest difference for me, both are worthwhile burley blends at a good price.

The old standby.
Tasty, simple and consistent. My all-day smoke. Nutty, mild with a touch of sweetness. As much as I enjoy small batch and boutique blends, Prince Albert is what satisfies me, day in and day out. If you're a burley fan and haven't tried it, give it a shot. It wouldn't have stuck around for over a century if it wasn't good stuff.

Nice flavor (from a newbie)
Bought it mainly for the canister. My mother has an old metal Prince Albert tin that she uses for buttons. Bought this to have the metal canister. However, as a newbie to pipe smoking, I enjoy the flavor, and it is very forgiving, while you learn to pack your pipe.

it's ok
would love to have a pipe tobac that isn't laced with all the added chemicals. everything I buy has a sameness to them and most burn hot. the industry is stuck with Federal reg.s so we end up with inferior pipe tobac.

Review Prince Albert...Seriously???
Another website with tens of thousands of members did a survey a few years ago and PA won hands down. Many of its members were so outraged that this simple old downhome burley could out score the fine tobaccos from the worlds leading sellers they forfeited their membership! In fact, I have drifted through literally hundreds of blends over the past fifty years and some I loved and many I didn't. Some I buy on a regular basis and some molder away in my cellar but when I get confused about what I really enjoy in my pipe I always go back to that big red canister of Prince Albert to reset my taste buds and remind me of why I started smoking a pipe in the first place. No frills. Just an easy packing, slow burning, stay lit, no bite, no after taste tobacco .

New Favorite
I really love the cut, long strings of tobacco is much better then the cross cut you see in other brands which when the can is running low it is almost dust. This has become my new favorite over Prince Albert. More brands should go for the longer cut and get rid of their cross cut machines.

Prince Albert 14 oz. Can 10 star 🌟 excellence!!
Prince Albert is a nicely branched hold her mellow cross cut tobacco that has me thinking about it more than talking 👄. I must say, every once in a while I think I have a very good fix on this, for some l nd of review, but it just isn't it....every time I try to put it down 3-4 more things come up after that....but in short it's a very exalted mild smoke with all the recharge a smoker wants Plus the most balanced flavor ever smoked, with a flavor that starts excellent and grows until the last bit of fresh smoke is burned but it also has 1 1/2 back Plus crutch support that lasts better and longer during that first bowl to needed second bowl of the day, without bothering the smoker at all!!

Pure Tobacco no frills
I am a Kentuckian and spent many days working in Tobacco. Prince Albert smells and tastes like Kentucky burley thats been air cured in the barn and stuck straight into a pipe like we used to do back then. Just a pure Kentucky Burley taste which has somewhat of a chocolate flavor. WARNING....must be smoked cool and slow to get the flavor. Even though it smokes easy and doesnt bite much it wont have much flavor if you smoke it to hot. Just because there is no bite doesnt mean your not smoking to hot to get the flavor. If your getting a " ashtray" flavor then slow down and let cool. Smoke very slow and cool and that chocolate flavor will come out

Mild, mellow, and more pleasant than my "go to standard," Sir WalterRaleigh. The Midtown version of this old favorite is better than the original version, and I definitely will buy it again.

Some of the worst tobacco i have ever smoked. Burns like it was soaked in tobasco sauce.

My lifelong friend
PA must have a magnet in the mix because it keeps drawing me back. I've tried so many blends (can't count them all) over 50 years and the Prince always seems to be my go-to smoke. It's just a simple, down-to-earth, real tobacco with no frills or added come-ons and always delivers the same smooth, flavorful, bite-free anytime bowl. To me, it's not much when you first light it, but it gets better and better deeper in the bowl. PA is THE classic pipe tobacco.

Excellent
Easy to pack, stays lit, little bite, nice nutty flavor. Try it in a churchwarden for a cool smoke.

The best of all.
This is THE classic. It should be called King Albert.

Old Timer
This is a simple pipe tobacco that has stood the test of time. It's tobacco for when you want to just lite it and smoke. Nothing fancy just a good smoke. It has become my go to tobacco.

Needs improvement...
Having gotten most of the way through the can, I feel confident in writing a review. This stuff is unbearably moist for the week or two after the seal is broken. As such, it bites the tongue something terrible...my tongue still feels like 48-grit sandpaper. It burns to a powdery black ash and leaves a lot of goopy carbon deposits in its wake. Worst of all, of the several blends I've smoked over the years, this one is far and away the most difficult to keep alight. Though it does have a good nutty Burley flavor, I get no cocoa notes. If the cut was a little finer and the casing toned down, it would vastly improve. But if it continues in its present state, I won't be buying any more.

Ray Mocarsky
I received this tub about 5 weeks ago and at first it was very aggressive. It burned and bit horribly. I regretted having bought it. So I let it sit for 3 weeks, occasionally fluffing it by hand to air it out somewhat. I tried a bowl. Still hot. Not fun. Each week I tried a bowl on the weekends. Getting less and less hot and harsh. After week 5, it has reached its perfection point. My, my, my . . . how it has changed with maturity. Prince Andrew is a fine, satisfying smoke be it in cob or briar; I have not yet tried it in meerschaum. It is my first experience with receiving tobacco that had to be mellowed; Lane 1Q and HGL are good to go but this stuff has to be broken in, much like a pipe itself. While the above mentioned can get to be sorta like having pecan pie for a main course, (overly rich) Prince Andrew is subtle, satisfying, and not too much of a good thing. A good, mellow smoke. And my wife says she can barely smell it, but when she does, it is not unpleasant. Ray Mocarsky

My favorite so far
Burns slow, right amount of harshness, good smoke output, and taste amazing. About the only complaint I can even think of is it's picky the way you pack it. I barely pack this stuff and it still burns forever.

P.s.
P.s. I hope Pipes and Cigars makes this available in bulk. There's no telling how many Prince Albert cans I have bought and discarded when empty. P and C does have a bulk tobacco called Prince Albert Match, but when I sampled it, I found it to be well off the mark.

Pleasant. Try it.
Who is/was Prince Andrew? Never mind. It a pleasant tobacco, slightly milder and and maybe a little sweeter than Prince Albert. Both are flavored with cocoa. When I opened the plastic can of Albert, the cocoa aroma was very strong. Missing from Andrew is the hint of Turkish evident in Albert. To make a closer match to Albert, leave the can open for a few days to allow cocoa vapors to dissipate. Mix 9 parts of Andrew with 1 part Blended Turkish Ribbon. Pip pip, jolly good show, old bean.

The Prince has been rescued!
I have tried most of the drug store blends: Half and Half, Carter Hall, Prince Albert, etc. I enjoy Virginia and English blends; but, as a young husband and Dad I can't bring myself to purchase them except on occasion (as bad as I want to). I needed to find something I could buy a lot of for cheap. I thought I was home with Prince Albert until I found out about the extras they put in him (not good for you). I also noticed Prince Albert would change on me, mid way or towards the end of my bowl. I would get a chemical taste (similar to cheap gas station cigars). You won't find that here. This is by far the highest grade tobacco I have handled. It also has what I loved about PA, no fuss. It just delivers. A solid bed of daily comfort, for those of us who need it. Honestly, the room note is nice as well. It reminds me of everything I love: Grandpas, Grandmother's warm dessert, good conversation. It also brings with it a gentle manliness. It's what I would imagine Dr. Grabow smoking...on his North Carolina porch on a summer evening. Obviously, you can tell I like it. If you enjoy PA, you will love this. Thank you, Russ.

Perfect and simple.
I always have Prince Albert on hand, it's an old favorite that I have smoked for as long as I have smoked a pipe. I have a whole cellar of expensive tobacco, but this is my mainstay. I love a couple bowls of PA first thing in the morning in my favorite cob with my coffee. Its simple, cool burning, easy to light and keep lit and completely bite free. It has that nutty burley taste, lightly sweet with hints of cocoa and possibly anise and scratches that itch for a clean tobacco taste.

My first smoke every morning
This is straight burley done up in the classic American style, and it is an amazing smoke. I smoke prince Albert at least once or twice a day, sometimes it is the only blend I smoke all day. There are nutty and cocoa flavors that come naturally from the tobacco, in my opinion the halfway point of the bowl is where it really becomes a sweet, rich smoke. There are no bells and whistles here, if you are a burley fan you will probably enjoy it, but I am of the opinion that a cob full of prince Albert Albert Albert huge cup of coffee is a good way to start the day

Prince albert was the first pipe tobacco I started smoking. I especially enjoy it after my morning buttered toast and jelly. Great flavor and great service from p&c

Prince Albert in a can.
Do you have Prince Albert in a can? Yes Let him out. My number 1 tobacco I smoke it every day. Flavor is great and burns well.

Definitely NOT Prince Albert...
Stronger, harsher, more crudely cut. hotter burning, less-appreciated room note than with Prince Albert, this is STILL a very enjoyable smoking tobacco! Whenever I feel the need for a pipeful of PRINCE ALBERT WITH AN ATTITUDE, I turn to Prince Andrew!

A real Prince!
While it won't knock Sir Walter Raleigh off of the OTC Burley throne, this Prince ain't half bad... in fact it's real good! A close PA match and a good example of an old codger burley.

Very tasty blend. I've mixed it with the Chatham Manor for a really good change.

Smooth as silk, tasty. Test of time PASSED here with flying colors. This "been around forever" pipe tobacco shows why it's been around forever. Love it.

Prince Albert in a can!
Hello, Prince Albert is a "OK" pipe smoke. Still looking for an old favorite called Union Leader. Will keep looking till I find anything close to it. All the guys who mix pipe tobacco could do allot worse. The off the wall mixes are a waste of time! Paul

Good basic smoking tobacco!
Mild, smooth, no bite, light and good burley flavor. Moderate mic hit. Great for my first morning smoke, great for rolling the occasional ciggerette. Perfect in a cob. I always keep some on hand!

You can take it in the pouch or you can take it in the can. Smoke Prince Albert like a man.
I smoke p.a. between orlik golden sliced, my two favorite tobacco's. You can't go wrong with the Prince.

Really good tobacco.
Almost a dead ringer for Prince Albert! The flavor and the nicotine hit is a little light but ok.

Great everyday smoke
One of my favorite non aromatic blends for a fair price. Mild, slightly sweet, and just a good all day smoke.

Not Great but not too bad
I prefer Prince Albert, however this one is not bad. Probably will not buy again.

An American icon deserving of its legendary status
This one's a classic for good reason! Nothing too complicated here. The Prince is an easygoing smoke in every sense: easy to light, easy to keep lit, easy on the palate, and gentle with the nicotine. There are few pipe tobaccos I can confidently say I'd be able to smoke all day, every day without getting bored, getting bitten, or getting sick. Prince Albert is one of them! A must-try for every new smoker, and a warm companion for the experienced piper.

My Staple for 50 plus years
When all else seems too harsh, too mundane - Prince Albert always satisfies.

My Grandfathers smoked Prince Albert.
Still the same quality as I remember when my grandfathers smoked the Prince. It would have gotten 4 - 5 stars if it can in a metal can instead of a plastic one.

Smooth Burning Tobacco
Pleasant flavor, and it burns very evenly. This tobacco is passive and not as flavorful as Carter Hall, but that might be agreeable to some.

Legacy to Burn
Mr. R. J. Reynolds named Prince Albert after Queen Victoria's son, who changed his name to George VI when he became king of England. Prince Albert was introduced in 1907. It was (one of?) the first tobaccos to be cured with licorice. Licorice contains a substance which is 50 times as sweet as sugar. It takes the bite out of tobacco. In 1913, R.J. Reynolds revealed that Prince Albert, like the Camel cigarettes that were introduced that year, has three constituent tobaccos: Piedmont Bright, a flavored and sweetened Burley from Kentucky, and 10% Turkish leaf. The flavoring contains cocoa. On opening the tub, one can smell the cocoa, but it is not obvious in the smoke. There is good reason why Prince Albert has been a favorite for over a century. It burns well to a fine ash. It is a pleasant, flavorful, and bite-free smoke that is neither overbearing nor cloying. Accept no substitute.

Still a great smoke!
Have enjoyed many aromatic blends purchased here at P&C. For 25 years my old standby is the Prince! My wife never has warmed to the aroma ( you know how wives are!) but it's really one of the only non-biting tobaccos I've ever smoked on a regular basis.......

I just want to say that I have a completely new respect and admiration for Prince Albert. In my search of the best otc burley, this has to be the best hands down! I admit I gave the prince a try when I first began smoking a pipe, and dismissed it as okay. However, after smoking half and half and carter hall, I decided to revisit Prince Albert as half and half was way too sweat for me, and carter hall was a good all around tobacco with some burley, it was still a bit sweet. I tried Sir Walter Raleigh, and found it too be a great otc burley, but still a bit too sweat for me. I purchased several 1.5 oz pouches from my local convenience store. How surprised I was upon retrying Prince Albert. I had finally found the nonsweat burley I had been searching for. Upon figuring I wanted this as my steady all day smoke, I promptly ordered a 14 oz tin. I found that it taste even better out of the tin than the 1.5 oz pouch. This is my newly found favorite burley and will probably remain so. The only acception is the Cornell and Diehl Big and Burley I smoke in the evenings for an even bigger burley experience.

Good, But Not Even Close To Prince Albert
While it is a good smoke with better quality tobacco, it lacks that wonderfully smooth Prince Albert top flavor. To my taste it s not a good enough substitute in its present formulation. Until or unless P&C reformulates, my advice would be to stick with the original. Come on P&C, you can do better than that, it is so easy to fix!
