Ashton Artisan's Blend

Ashton Artisan’s pipe tobacco is a true Latakia connoisseur's blend. It features one of the most enjoyed of all tobaccos- exquisite Cyprian Latakia. Artisan’s blend is completed by the addition of premium Virginias and choice Orientals. The finishing touch on this pipe tobacco is a bit of Louisiana Perique for rich body and a deeply sweet note and a hint of spice. Ashton Artisan’s blend is a must-try of Ashton pipe tobaccos for those who enjoy a sweet aromatic smoke.

Underrated English - Must Try!
Loving Ashton Cigars, I thought I would try this English blend - I am delighted that I did. If you like Peterson Nightcap, you will love this Latakia forward English blend with amazing flavor. Stays cool, and lit and simply has some of the most unique flavors I have ever tried. For me it’s AM and a cup of black coffee.

Balance is the best word
Balance is the best word to describe this blend. Above average quality and above average tobaccos.

Old school smell, reminds me
Old school smell, reminds me of aroma from childhood, remembering pipe smokers. Great contrast to tobacco I normally smoke such as DeLux blends, Founders Choice etc.

Very Nice. Possible FMC Substitute?
This quickly became my favorite blend. The taste and room note are great, lively but not overpowering. Itches the scratch left by FMC's untimely passing (DOES NOT MATCH IT) while delivering a surprising nic hit on an empty stomach. Maybe it's the liberal arts degree or maybe it's the taste but this is some good stuff. I'll regret it when the mouth cancer rears its head in 40 years but for now, I'm enjoying it

Ashton Artisan Blend
Closest to a good English blend I've tasted in many years. Will stick with this for a while.

Spicy, but in a good way
Smelling this after opening the tin you’re hit with a spicy, aggressive note. It does have a bit of bite to it. However, I have to admit, this was the strongest tobacco I’ve had to date. It seemed harsh on the first smoke. Over the course of a couple of smokes, I’ve come to appreciate the flavor.

Ashton Artisan's Blend
WOW! Great English blend. The Latakia popped as soon as I cracked the tin. It reminded me of Nightcap, but it is NOT! The body was a lot lighter. The mix of the Orientals and Black Cavendish made it somewhat sweeter. I feel the Virginias were more of a filler but still detectable. Really liked this blend after the first tin, so I purchased more. If you like a great English blend, I would definitely recommend this one!!

Like a Fine Cigar in Your Pipe
At first lighting, it gives the sensation of lighting a fine cigar. The flavor stays with it to the point of having nothing but fine ash left at the bottom.

Bold and Bountiful
If you like a strong English blend, heavy on the Latakia, this one’s for you. My favorite smoke. I’ve finally found a replacement for the old Balkan Sobranie.

My favorite full flavored Lat blend
It may not have Syrian Latakia any more, but it still tastes great. It packs a lot of flavor. Perfect for an evening stroll on a cool day. One of my all time favorites.

May I have some more please?
Very enjoyable latakia blend. I love the very rich smoke and the somewhat heavy smoky flavor of the latakia tobacco. I realize that's not every ones cup of tea but for me that smooth leathery, smoky and a pinch spicy (almost like black pepper kinda )flavor is awesome. It's one of my very favorites and it's been out of stock for a while now. I've tried a few other English blends and it's always good to have a good blend to fall back on and I have found a couple really really good ones but....please, please...get more of Artisan's blend in stock ASAP!

Rich and Earthy, Cool and Creamy, A Must-Try Tobacco Blend
This is my go-to Latakia blend. It's the coolest and smoothest smoking pipe tobacco I've ever had and stays lit throughout the whole bowl. Leaves a fine white ash at the end. The campfire smoke, wood and leathery flavors are balanced with a swampy cool creaminess and earthiness like damp soil. A bit of sour/spice to round it out. It's like the cool damp air in an old barn or basement that's refreshing, musty, and filled with history. I can't talk this one up enough.

Hearty, Robust
This tobacco is not for the faint hearted - deep, rich, no nonsense aroma for the serious pipe smoker

Ashton artisan blend......richest English I've ever had!
Started out flavorfulky fresh, bold, and a bit hard to lite as I was trying out one of those new arc lighters at the ti.e, actually had to resort to a gas lighter, but soon after, i was totally blown away with how whole bodied this English was to the final latest puff...!!

Surprisingly mild
Surprisingly mild in flavor given the strength of the scent of the raw tobacco. It sells reminiscent of peat, but with a fruity/juicy character(from the perique?). Burns cool and no tongue bite of any kind. I found it a little difficult to keep it lit, but it was a little juicy coming out of the tin. The scent was quite beautiful, mild, but lingers. Somewhere during the second bowl, you will notice your mouth coated in oil from the tobacco. I suppose the smoking process coats the latakia in oil. I enjoyed the sensation in my mouth and found it to be soothing. Definitely a relaxing smoke. I'd say it is a medium strength blend in terms of nicotine. It does not lose its charm while smoking, but at some point you must stop smoking as the oil coats you mouth too thickly. This would be a nice tobacco to smoke after smoking a bowl of a stronger tobacco. Perhaps topping off your final bowl of stronger tobacco with this cool, mild tobacco would be a good idea. Warning: This tastes almost entirely like oak smoke, at least like the oak in Georgia. It is a rounder, smoother version of it, but quite similar. If you like oak smoke, that is what you will get here. The scent is closer to peat, as in peated scotch, but the taste is like oak smoke, not peat.

Must try blend
This is a very satisfying well blended tobacco that can be enjoyed anytime. Easy to maintain and smokes evenly from start to finish. Easy to keep in rotation.

Ashton's Artisan's Blend
Honestly, this tin came so wet that I haven't really smoked it much. I took out one bowl and let it sit out for a few hours. It was still almost too wet to stay lit, but I did like the flavor of the bowl.

The "Ah-Ha" Tobacco
This was the tobacco that got me into smoking a pipe. Before I knew the differences between an English Blend, a Va/Per or an Aromatic, I knew Artisan's Blend! If you appreciate a well balanced, complex English Blend, then you owe it to yourself to try AB. It is smokey, sweet, savory and spicy all rolled into one bowl. Enormously satisfying. While not as "big" as Nightcap, this stands on its own. I rotate between the two when I'm in the mood for a really robust Latakia-forward smoke. The Syrian Latakia in this blend really shines. Do yourself a favor and pick up two tins and put one away for a year or more. It only gets better as the Syrian leaf gets a little less smokey and begins to develop some intoxicating floral aromas.

Really Good English!
One of my favorite English blends. It's pretty god out of the tin but jarring it for a month or so really helps round out this blend.
Customer Testimonials
I am new to the Latakia blends. This smoke is wonderful and goes well at night with a fine single malt scotch. My first taste of an Ashton product. The only way Ashton can make this better is with a biscuits and gravy topping!

Ashton's Artisans Blend is a Latakia Bomb with little else going for it. Some times I smoke it & it gets complex near the end. At other times it's Smokey Latakia all the way through. Do you have an aged Frog Morton on the Bayou in your cellar? If so mix Ashton's Artisan Blend 50/50 with your mild bland aged Frog Morton on the Bayou. Artisan brings out the Latakia flavor that the FMOTB has lost and the Froggy Unleashes the Perique that the Artisan claims it has. Your left with a nice come back kid. Smokey & Spicy. Frog Morton Visits Deutschland.

I got this blend as part of a pipe kit. Wow. I am learning about English style blends. This has a rich heavy smoke with a little sweetness that comes to me after I taste a puff. As in the latakia goes away and then the sweet comes. Very mild sweet with a slight fruity flower quality I never have gotten before. The flavor is big. Can be heavy on the nicotine. Go easy if you can help yourself
