Ashton Gold Rush

Nice bright VA. Description on the label is accurate with notes of lemon and honey. Needs a bit of drying time. Right out of the tin it takes a few lights. I would probably buy this again.

The flavor of this is amazing.

I was a huge fan of Stanwell Melange (before they changed the blend). If you liked the original Melange than this flavor profile is close (but not quite). The honey and citrus notes do not last for the full life of the can, and as the tobacco becomes dryer the flavor starts to disappear rather than mature. Other than that its a find blend of Virginias worthy of smoking fast enough that you may never notice the flavor profile dull out in the first place.

Pleasant surprise. The strength and burn are just right. I was skeptical about the lemon and honey coming through. But they really do. It's subtle. But definitely there. I can see this becoming an all-day smoke for me. Ashton never disappoints.

It's an OK blend. Smoke it slow to keep it as mellow as it can be. Smoke it fast and the harshness will smack you in the face.
