Easily as good as flake
I was surprised to learn that Virginia doesn't have to be flake to be REALLY good for smoking straight. But this one is exactly that. Also good with a little or a lot of PS311 Perique.

Pretty good.
A good smoke on its own. I also tried a small pinch of summer splash, then a pinch of winding brook. Then fill the bowl with this. It made a good combination. Ill definitely order more next time and try more layer or blend options.

701 Virginia Is A Very Fine Everyday Smoke
I like a mellow tobacco with a low room note, and I was looking for something that would be a good smoke during the day and I found that in this 701 Virginia tobacco. It is very mellow in taste and seems to get better the farther down the bowl you smoke it. It smokes evenly with no tongue bite and burns to a very fine white ash. I will be purchasing more of this fine product in the future.

Flavorful w/ Citrus Note
Personally I use it as a nice addition to lighten up a "heavy" smoke, but it's also nice straight if you enjoy the citrus / hay flavors.

So Far So Good
I am a RYO user, and the "Fresh Choice" machine I use had trouble with this product. The reason this happened is due to the high moisture content in this tobacco. At this point, I am using a method to drying it out. Otherwise, one of the most important things I especially appreciate is that it has very few stems.

Nice and sweet without being
Nice and sweet without being cloying, it's the way a Virgina should be.

Years ago I used to smoke Three Castles and was heartbroken when it disappeared.
I've finally found my new tobacco. I can't say they are quite the same, but I can say the Stokkebye Virginia was exactly what I wanted.

Straight up Virginia
I was in a tobacco crisis a few years back and upon talking to the fine folks at Pipes & Cigars, they recommended trying daughters and Ryan after trying many others. It was a winner! I prefer a Virginian and all of the Wind Sail line is excellent and they are always consistent. I enjoy other tobaccos from their line from time to time, and as always they are excellent. Daughter and Ryan are truly the tobacconists tobacconist and not just a slogan!

Great for blending
This is a soft and unobtrusive Virginia. Mild taste, very slightly sweet, hints of hay and earthy grass. Burns a little fast on its own. I use this as a blending component in my own hair-brained kitchen sink mixes :-) Great blender for the price; and the four stars are based on how it can compliment other Virginias when mixed. Stand alone, it’s very one dimensional, fast burning and prone to nip the tongue.

Tried as MYO
It's a quality Virginia. I gave it a shot as a MYO along with other PS blends more suited for that. It did not work very well as a MYO unlike the others; it's mild, a little boring by itself and it didn't like to stay lit. I'm sure it's great as a base/blender for pipe smokers. Still giving it 4/5 stars.

Great Deal !
So far, easily my favorite yellow non aromatic. It is bright and sweet without being too tangy. I used it as a starting point for my favorite non aromatic blend and I was not disappointed. The cost on this should be much higher.

Good blending VA
This is a good VA that I like to use for blending and sometimes I smoke it straight when we have an ole fashioned hole diggin.

Tastes wonderful when mixed with Turkish and small touch of Latakia. Yumm.. love it!

Good for blending
I found Windsail Regular to be a bit bland just on its own. However, as a base for blending it is pretty good. I have been able to make some pretty satisfying blends with it.

Simple and Pure
As a lat blend smoker there is sometimes the need to step back and reassess your palate. This is a pure Virginia, haylike and slightly sweet. Reminded me when I used to smoke Dunhill Red years ago.

Sweet Viginia
I mix this with 712 Burley and a touch of perique -- wonderful, especially in one of my cobbs.

Great RYO Tobacco
I was a long-time Export A smoker. Now I'm trying to find a MRYO smoke I like. This is my favorite so far. It has a very appealing round/smooth fruity sweetness, like grass hay and wood kindling coupled with fig or raisin. I really enjoy this. For RYO, it arrived with just the right level of moisture. It's also worked well to blend with some other tobaccos I liked less well by themselves because they lacked the fruitiness I enjoy. And the price is right and the delivery speed is remarkably fast--my last order arrived in just 3 days. I'll definitely keep buying this tobacco from P&C.

Amazingly versatile.
Peter Stokkebye Virginia is a bright and sweet leaf ideal for blending but enjoyable all on its own. Use as a primary component with a 20-30 percent Dark Fired Kentucky for a sweet and smoky flavor, or add some Perique for a spicy note with a strong hit and smooth finish.

Yuck
Nothing but cigarette tobacco

Smooth all day smoke.
Peter Stokkebye Virginia English blends are my favorite smokes. This particular blend is a moderate and pleasant experience. I always look forward to its pleasant (Vanilla) aroma and relaxing (smooth) effect.

Full flavor tobacco that is noticeably less harsh than Windsail Silver
Because it is less harsh than some of the other tobacco's and doesn't have additional flavors blended in, this tobacco provides a smoother smoking sensation than the other windsail tobaccos

Everything I expected it to be. The numbers seem low, but for a light VA that I bought for a blending base - darn near perfect

Windsail Regular
This is one I might use to tone down a blend that is too strong. Smoked on its own it had that "hot air" quality to it. Not much going on in the taste department in my opinion.

Windsail Regular
Would be a good mixer, but not one I would smoke right out of the bag or tin. Not much flavor to this one. It kind of had that "hot air" thing going for it in the flavor department. Would be good to tone down a blend that you find too strong.

Very nice.
Another very nice, high quality tobacco from D&R that is naturally sweet and mild.

Great tobacco

Mild, all-day, Virginia tobacco. OK for RYO/MYO.
This is a good, mild, all-day type of smoke. It is not as flavorful as the D&R Three Sails (my favorite), but it may be better for a new smoker. The cut is also heavier than the D&R, but it lends itself well to RYO, MYO crafting.

decent
I was a bit disappointed with the 701 Virginia. It is a good quality tobacco and made for a nice bowl. But I was expecting something more akin to their cigarette tobacco just in a wider cut. Much of what I have read about this and other Stokkebye tobaccos were just that. So this is where my disappointment lies. I was looking for the old shag cut flavors. Otherwise it's a fine Virginia pipe tobacco. It's mild and makes for good morning smoke but can be enjoyed all day. Thanks.

Quality!
A very mild and pleasant experience. It doesn't come on as strong initially as say, Virginia Gold, but the flavor and room note remain consistently strong all the way to the bottom. It is nicely dry, so it lights up well and is easy to keep lit with no trace of tongue bite. There is a hard-to-define sense of high quality throughout. It now occupies a high place on my list of favorites!

Nice smoke overall
Very nice and pleasant smoke. I am a fan of English blends mostly, but when I want something more mild I like non-aromatic Virginia blends. The 701 Virginia is worth a try. You'll be pleasantly surprised!

Amazing smoke.
One of the best Virginias I have smoked. The "tin" note is sweet and earthy, and the room note is a light semi-sweet hay. Far from one dimensional in the flavor department. Toward the 2/3 mark, the room note and the flavor deepened considerably. No tongue burn from steam if allowed to dry for 20-30 minutes. Smoked in a cob. I wasn't expecting much when I ordered this, but this is going in full rotation as one of my new favorite all-day smokes. One of the best Virginias I have smoked. Fantastic job Peter Stokkebye. You've really out-done yourself. Please don't change a thing (seriously).

Great for RYO/MYO, and you can stick it in your pipe, too!
I am an all-around smoker (pipes, cigars, cigarettes and hookahs) and in particular a RYO/MYO person. Aside from being moister than is good for that (I leave out a pile an hour before I roll or stuff), the 701 is a good, solid Virginia tobacco, with the expected brightness and lightness. I even use it in my pipes if I'm in a rush for a nicotine rush, as I will inhale it from a pipe, on occasion. I do not smoke any cased or flavored tobaccos in any of my briars (et al). I reserve that for when I smoke shisha. IT's a great bargain, and close enough (except for the cut, of course) to the Danish Export that Stokkebye makes, that it's an all-day tobacco for me, and I like it a lot.

RYO Heaven
Absolutely the best bang for the buck anywhere. This is a mellow tasteful smoke, with not a lot of aroma, and since I smoke inside that is an added bonus. As long as I smoke, this will always be my go to tobacco.
