Big and Bold
When Camacho assembled their Board of the Bold, consisting of Mike Ditka, Matt Booth and Robb Weiss. it was an attempt to find some new direction in premium cigars. They've accomplished that and then some, and the newest offering in Robb Weiss' BG Meyer line is another burst of innovation.
It seems that a number of large ring gauge cigars have come out in recent years, with the only goal in mind being to make a big cigar. BG Meyer Gigantes put the large size to full use by being able to use a more complex blend to create a singular flavor.
The wrapper is a Habano capa grown in Ecuador in 2007. The binder is a Brazilian Mata Fina that's at least six years-old. The Nicaraguan and Dominican long-fillers also feature six years of aging. The result is a cool-smoking cigar that offers sweet wood and leather notes, with spices, anise and pepper notes weaving in and out. Here's one you shouldn't pass up.
