With a name like Big Ben Canterbury pipes, you might expect that these briars would be classically English in design...and you'd be absolutely correct. These six shapes have all been inspired by the famous old British brands, even though their somewhat larger size and more contemporary touches bring these classics firmly into the 21st century.
It all starts with the high-quality briar that the Gubbels factory is well-known for. Each block is aged especially long to be a light and absorbent as possible. The pipes are then expertly fashioned into these time-honored shapes, and then the beautiful golden stain is applied to allow the grain to be highlighted.
Of course, the most beautiful pipe is worth nothing if it doesn't smoke well, but that's never a concern with a Big Ben Canterbury. They breathe freely and smoke cool and dry.
The final touch is being mated to tough, non-oxidizing acrylic stems, in a brindle-type color swirl. A trim ring consisting of two white metal bands separated by a gold pearl stripe completes this amazing and affordable package.
