What can you say? One of the big daddy aromatics, one that smokes easy while tasting as good as it’s room note. Vanilla and caramel will come to mind, but will not bring any bite with it. It’s gone too fast!

I found this in a pipe shop years ago when I asked for their favorite pipe tobacco. I can go by different names in tobacco shops but there is a reason this is probably the favorite pipe tobacco in America. My family can tell if I smoke a different tobacco - they all love the smell of 1-Q and I love the taste and the way it smells.

Have smoked this light blend for manyyears as a daily smoke. Always complements from those in close proximity. I also enjoy a balance of tinned tobaccos as a treat end of day. My choices run the complete line of tobaccos, including English.

A “comfort food” tobacco. Not overly sweet, mild, great room note. A classic. My go to in a cob. Simple. My favorite.

By Far my Favorite I always have younger folks say to me, I love that smell, reminds me of my Grandpa. Lane has great quality control. Never had a order that I found more consistent.

Sutliff Vanila has no bit, very aromatic and a delight.

I have been smoking Lane Limited 1-Q for decades. It is the only tobacco I smoke. People are always giving me different types of tobacco as a gift. I confess after a while I just throw these other tobaccos away.

Love this stuff too. Very mild and the aroma is the best. I often smoke it outdoors and I am constantly surprised at how many complements i get from walkers and surrounding people....mostly women, but lots of men too. The men usually ask what tobacco it is. It is one of my two favored tobacco and I alternate it with Reis 3 Star Blue for a complete change of flavor.

An essential morning Covfefe smoke! It smokes fine on its own but I love to mix 50/50 Carter Hall & 1Q to give it more body. An essential blend to keep in stock.

I think it is great. However I wish the more you buy the better the price. I buy 5lb bags now, but with a better discount, I would buy bigger Quantities.

Nice tobacco, burns well, smells nice, not overwhelming. It tastes good without the burn. The only reason I gave it a 4 and not a 5, is because I have only tried about 5 different tobacco types. This was the best of the 3 I tried.

I'm not a fan of this by itself, but when mixed 50/50 with BCA its a completely different smoke. The aroma of this mixture is so nostalgic, it really is wonderful.

Was an ok smoke. I still enjoy the Lane 1Q over anything I have purchased here so far. Wasn't as good of a room filler with the smell as the Lane, but it still had a good taste.

It's Lane - my choice for 50 years.

Lane brands are a staple in the tobacco industry and it is hard to find a bad tobacco in their line up. This one is tastier than most mass marketed tobaccos. I actually purchase the 1-Q by the pound and gift away an ounce or two to my friends who are pipe smokers but who haven't found a home tobacco yet. 1-Q can be smoked all-day without burning out the taste buds or the palette. It's not a great tobacco but very smokeable and easy to enjoy.

The 1-Q is a pleasant surprise, an all-day smoke. Mild strength, nice vanilla flavor but not overpowering, visible traces of black cavendish, no bite. Another important element: just right moisture. It has become instantly one of my Lane favorites.

This is my go to pipe tobacco most of the time. I’m a big fan of cavendish and the topping on this blend brings out all of its good qualities. This is the tobacco I reach for when I’m having my morning coffee or when I’m just relaxing on the porch.

I'm a fan of the Lane Limited 1-Q. It is a comfortable and familiar aromatic blend that is a great all-day tobacco, and the ribbon cut of the tobacco makes it easy to pack and easy to keep lit.

Strong flavor, smooth, slow burning, alone or mixed, an excellent product.

Room note engages nearby humans in a largely positive way. Tobacco is damp, sticky, fragrant. Important to let it dry a little and leave some airspace around strands to allow burning. Flavor is bland with good body to the smoke. I can see why this is popular, but after a while it leave me wanting a little more. So I find I'm topping each bowl off with a little English style like Peterson's Old Dublin. The great thing about a pipe is the way we can mix our own cocktail to our liking. By the way, does anyone know what "1-Q" stands for?

I've seen this compared to the "MacDonald's" of tobacco, and I agree. That being said, I have a regular "Big Mac attack" when I have this blend on hand. People like the room note as well.

Just got these two today and the Tom Sawyer straight and the Short Stop straight Missouri Meerschaums. First things first...I have to admit I'm not big on 'aromatics'. I like English and American smokes without any weird added stuff to the tobacco, but my grandpa used to smke an aromatic so I figure I should try one at least. I tested the Lane 1Q in the Tom Sawyer, breaking the pipe in. It was a good smoke, but pretty subtle. To be honest I don't understand the hype of this Lane 1Q by quite a few smokers, but then maybe I just don't have the finesse to taste things as well...it's a distinct possibility. The tobacco was relatively cool and stayed lit well once one got past the first several puffs getting it started. I imagine it left a pleasant room note (I live alone, so have no one to say anything about it) since it did seem to smell good on the exhale and the wisps that came from the pipe itself once in a while. It'd be a decent tobacco for a novice to start with. I broke the Short Stop in with the Sutliff 1M Vanilla. Now *THIS* impressed me! It was a very pleasant flavor from the first puff. Didn't burn and smoke like wood at the beginning just getting it started and first few puffs in to the pipe. It literally tasted good from the first puff. It's there, but not a 'in your face' strong flavor, but you'd have to be without a tongue to not enjoy this tobacco. The sweetness alone will get one hooked and wanting to smoke it all day long, and I can't think of a reason why that would be a Bad Thing in any way. The room aroma alone I am betting would not make even a staunch anti-smoker whine too much! I will be buying quite a bit more of this Sutliff 1M Vanilla. I may be dirt poor and this is my only habit, but now that I know there's an aromatic I actually enjoy, it'll be worth it. My MM Short Stop is very happy to have been broke in with this too!

Lane 1-Q is in my top two rotation; along with Scotty's Trout Stream. The bag note is subtle but great, along with the room note. It burns great with no bite. This tobacco starts off great while smoking and just gets better and better throughout the bowl. I purchase this by the 16 oz bag.

Another contender for a all-day smoke, going nose to nose with Molto Dolce as my new favorite tobacco. You've heard it before, and it's true this is wonderfully smooth and aromatic.

I blend the Sutliff 1M and Lane Limited 1Q on a 1 to 1 ratio. It seems to take the bite out of the 1Q and smooth it out quite a bit.

Everyone knows this is supreme aro, I started with rlp6 n still prefer it but if I started with this I wouldn’t smoke anything else

3 years of filling my bowls with it, and no end in sight! One of my first tobaccos I tried and still order it regularly. In summer I order it in the tins, cooler weather bulk and fill my tins with it to keep it from drying out. Maybe the "Chevy" of tobaccos, but, I like it! I've been smoking a pipe for 56 years and I usually have a pipe going. I'm a sipper and many tobacco's are either too harsh or too bland or have flavorings that almost make Me gag. I smoke Lane's 1-Q almost exclusively because it's always a satisfying smoke, very mild Nicotine hit, nice taste and just perfect for bowl after bowl of enjoyment. I enjoy many other tobacco's too but I have many smaller bowled pipes for those because stronger blends overwhelm Me so I call those My Dessert Tobacco's, but I always come back to My favorite smoke, good old Lane's 1-Q.

Not a whole lot to it, mix it with a richer blend to balance out the consistency.

Why wouldn't someone like Lane 1Q since it has been at the top of the Favorite list for decades throughout the country? It is very mild, so no burning tongue or raw palette after a pipe full or even at the end of the day. And, no less important in these times, its pleasing aroma is welcomed by most none smokers.

Now, in the grand scheme of things, I am still fairly new to the hobby of pipe smoking. I have been smoking on and off for about four years now, this last year having really driven head first into all this hobby has to offer. That said, my pallet can be all over the place! Believe it or not, I started with Burley but soon found that my taste tends to lend itself toward heavier Latakia blends. Aromatics were surprisingly the last "type" that I had tried. I can see why Lane 1-Q is a staple for pipe smokers around the globe. It truly is an all day type blend that is mild, yet very satisfying. You know those mild blends you may smoke that leave you saying "well there really wasn't much too that." Lane 1-Q is NOT that! Starts mild, burns very cool, no bite, and an all around good taste! For the newer pipe smokers out there, this should definitely be one to try; as it packs easily, stays lit, and gives you the smoke you want!

Sometimes you need an all-day, any day, anywhere kind of smoke. This stuff is just ok to me, but it's good for what it is.

I make my own blend with all three of these. There is another blend I use as a condiment but if I give up my secret with proportions mixed and the condiment, it will not be my own blend. All three are good on their own but when you mix them and jar it for 3 to 6 months, something magical happens.

Both are good, but I definitely prefer the Sutliff 1M. Simply a better, more flavorful smoke. The Lane 1Q is good, but smokes much dryer than I prefer.

Both are great tobaccos, but my PERSONAL favorite is the Lane 1-Q. The vanilla just didn't light my fire (pun intended). I also participated in the Lane Very Cherry/Stokkebye #3 Cherry trial. While some might consider this heretical, I've found that mixing 2 parts of Lane 1-Q with 1 part Lane Very Cherry results in a nice, very soft everyday smoker with a nice room note. Not overpowering, just pleasant.

I received this for Christmas. I enjoyed both tobaccos. They were smooth and flavorful with no bite. I do recommend allowing them both to dry as they were a tad moist when received. If I had to choose although I would choose the lane 1 q. Just a smoother smoke for a newer pipe smoker like me.

Now I’m no professional or avid piper. I enjoy a good pipe on the occasion so I thought I would go with this blend. I was surprised and well treated. The fragrance when smelled is mildly vanilla and not overpowering. The pull on it is pleasant and enjoyable. Not bitter or tart like others. Definitely will recommend and reorder once I’m done.

Somewhat moist, smooth smoking. Let it dry out before putting in air tight container and it will be fine. Used as base for further blending.
