Briar Works Bacon Old Fashioned

Briar Works Bacon Old Fashioned pipe tobacco blend starts with Burley, Virginia, and black Cavendish, to which notes of bourbon and citrus are added. What makes this smoothly aromatic tobacco blend unique is that some hickory-smoked dark-fired Kentucky is included to bring together all the essences you'd find in the libation of the same name.  A medium-bodied aromatic, Briar Works Bacon Old Fashioned pipe tobacco is a great choice to have in the morning after a hearty breakfast, and the glass kerr jar it comes packaged in is a perfect place to keep the tobacco in to age once opened.

Your first impression may be quite different than your third impression on this one.
Well I wrote a nice, long review of this tobacco, but since the entire 10 or 12 lines were immediately erased when this web site interjected a notification window, and I am left to recreate my review, I am going to make my second attempt shorter. This is a good mild smoke. The flavor and afterglow have little to do with the initially sweet citrusy aroma. My first impressions after smoking, which I can best describe as "unimpressed", were soon overridden by my subconscious desire to have another bowl while perusing a rather large collection of jarred tobaccos and waiting for the spirit to hit me in choosing one for the day. It grew on me, and although I am more in to English, Scottish and Balkan blends, this is mildly aromatic, and works well for me when I want a simple smoke. I find my self especially attracted to it on the rare days when I want to smoke a pipe in the morning.

Briar Works Bacon Old Fashioned
First Briar Works tobacco I'd ever tried, and it's great! Taste is consistent through the whole bowlful, and the room note gets compliments!

Porking good
When your in the mood for something non-aromatic but you don’t want a full bodied English. This tobacco is a good choice to add in your rotation. The smell of citrus is curious. But still a good smoke. Just take your time to pair it with a good cold drink.

Odd.... But nice.
I did not expect much with this tobacco. Ratings we're mixed even on briar works own website. That being said, I just got this along with 4 other tobacco's. This is by far the best out of all of them. It does have slight notes of bacon but it smells more like the smell of bacon curing in a smoke house. I smoked it while I was cutting firewood today and it burned well, I enjoyed the room note outside but I have a feeling it may be overpowering inside. I really enjoyed it. Currently in my top 3.

"Poking The Pig"
A very unusual taste and aroma... Sort of like poking a pig to see what it will do. A good smoking tobacco but just unusual in it's nature. Not to my liking as much as other blends from them.

Enjoyable smoke
While you may get a whiff of “smoke” sent from opening the jar it is not an aroma or flavor that is perceived when smoking. However, you do indeed smell and taste the “old fashioned” aspect as you experience notes of sweet and sour with every puff.

Try it, you'll like it!
Love the packaging which is quaint and also helps keep the tobacco fresh. Mild and pleasant aroma. The perfect tobacco for relaxing at the end of a busy day.

Rich hickory smoke flavored tobacco that is only marred by inconsistent leaf cut.
This is definitely an interesting tobacco. My wife wanted me to order it because I am a bacon freak. I told her not to expect too much bacon smell, since it is based off of a type of drink. I had read several reviews elsewhere that the whiskey and citrus notes were much stronger than the bacon. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the jar. It had a very rich hickory smoke smell to it. I felt the hickory smoke was definitely the more dominant note, when smelling the smoke. I can't really tell you what it smelled like while smoking it. I can rarely pick out any scents when I am the one smoking. I can say that it was a very pleasant, smooth smoke. There was very little bite to it at all. The only reason I gave this tobacco four stars instead of five was because the cut of the tobacco was very inconsistent. It was mainly a nice ribbon cut, but there were very large sheets of tobacco leaf in the jar as well. I tried to tear those into considerably smaller pieces before putting into my pipe, but it still led to having to put a considerable amount of effort into the draw, as well as multiple re-lights. The pros certainly outweigh the cons. I plan on packing another bowl of this tobacco soon.

The worst tobacco I have ever tried
This is the worst tobacco I have ever had I couldn't even take more than 2 hits. The name makes it sound so good. If you want bacon flavor try Vermont meat candy.
