This is my first time to try Antietam but after I read the description, I thought since I was ordering Sherman's March anyway, I might as well try a pouch of Antietam. When I opened the pouch, I liked the cut of the tobacco but I wasn't overly impressed with the smell in the pouch. When I tried it, I was really surprised at the taste. It is sweet but not too sweet. I didn't get much of a cherry flavor but I did taste some dark cherry. The room note is nice and pleasant. I like Antietam and I will probably order it again.

As a dedicated aro smoker who loves cavendish tobacco and cherry flavor, I really looked forward to trying this one. For once, it is a cherry with no bite! It is almost underwhelming cherry flavor, but the subtlety isn't bad. I was actually surprised in a pleasant way. It's not my all day every day go-to, but it's definitely pleasant enough to return to. A decent but very very subtle blend for cherry lovers unless you're looking for a cough syrup flavor; you won't find that here.

Aroma was subtle, not too heavy. Smell was good, though (wife hasn't smelled it yet, but I suspect she won't hate it - she only likes the smell of cherry blends). Some might prefer the weak cherry flavor in the background but there was nothing else to taste with this blend. A beginner might like this as a start for their introduction to a mild cherry smoke. Bought this in February, had some, and left it sitting in the package until today. Got it back out to hang at my brand new workbench and the time has been VERY kind to this blend. Flavors came together nicely, made my garage smell heavenly, and satisfied my craving for a great aromatic. This is THE cherry blend for me now, unless someone has a better suggestion!

I love Brigadier Black Antietam! I started pipe smoking in June when I got a pipe for Father’s Day. I wasn’t a smoker so I didn’t know anything about tobacco so I’ve been trying different types. So far this has been the best blend. It’s smooth, tastes and smells good, didn’t give me tongue bite and it doesn’t have an aftertaste. I’m still on the hunt for other tobaccos that I like, but, as of today this is the best.

I ordered the small pouch of Brigadier Black Antietam with several other purchases. When I opened the pouch I was immediately taken by the aroma. I loaded a pipe and my wife commented on the aroma, later in the day I smoked another bowl. Results? Great aroma, great taste, no bite. My eight ounce can arrived a week or so later. It's outstanding in every way. I also tried a tin of Cult Blood Red Moon and am equally pleased.

Recently returned to pipe smoking and wanted to find a good cherry blend. At first, I was seriously let down by this one. As with any other blend, I got way more enjoyment and flavor when I consciously made myself slow down with it. Kind of a metaphor for life and the whole reason I got into pipe smoking to begin with. If you like Dr. Pepper and/or Cherry Coke, this is for you. It has a spicy tang like those sodas bring without the harsh bite. This can has been solid. Took straight from can and into a mason jar. Perfect moisture and pack. It's not overly cherry, that's why I compare it to Dr. Pepper. It's not overly cherry, but when you smoke a bowl of this, you'll see what I'm talking about.

Smoking a pipe is an experience and when smoking this, I couldn't help but pay homage to the men who fell during the battle of Antietam with each puff. Upon opening the pouch, there's a rich scent of chocolate, cream and vanilla with a hint of cherry or berry. The smoke is smoother than a Confederate cannonball and the aroma is rich and creamy.
I love the marketing of Brigadier Black naming the blends after historic Civil War battles, which should be enough to intriguingly seduce any piper. I salute you!

I used to avoid cherry blends altogether, but I bought several to give a try and ended up finding two I loved; Scotty's Bass Pond and Russ' Nation's Capital. They made me rethink my disdain for cherry blends, so I tried Antietam hoping it would be a good as Alamo and Sherman's March, both also from Brigadier Black and both quite nice, though not cherry. Antietam is not bad at all, in fact it is the same high quality as the other Brigadier Black tobaccos I've tried, but unlike the others, the flavor profile and aroma here were somewhat stunted, mild even. Not much of the cherry note comes through which may be what you're looking for and may have been what they were going for since so many cherry tobaccos are overly saturated. What does come through tastes natural and balanced with the sweetness of the black Cavendish and not the familiar artificial cherry that turns me off. Overall I'd say it is a good smoke, no bite, easily lit, stays lit, and is mild enough to be smoked anytime of day. The price for all the Brigadier Black blends is a bonus. If you like cherry blends and find too often they are way too strong, this may just be the blend for you. If you are a fan of 'very cherry' blends, this may leave you wanting more. Hope this helps.

I got this on a checkout special several months ago...I am not an aromatic guy.
I opened the tin and my wife took a whiff and said it stunk like "funky cherries".
I smoked a bowl of it. It surprised me. It tasted great. It didn't bite my tongue. It smelled fantastic...anywhere I smoked it, people loved the aroma.
It didn't stink up my garage (man cave). It actually smelled better after smoking this.
I blew through half a tin in a very short time (aromatics tend to hit the trash can quickly, or languish untouched at the back of my tobacco cabinet indefinitely, pulled out and smoked very seldom, then returned to exile after my tongue protests vehemently.
It took DISCIPLINE to leave this one alone in the Mason jar I placed it in...and I mean a concerted effort!
I have been on a Virginia/VaPer bender for upwards of four or five months now...I just love Virginia flakes.
Tonight, the mood struck me for an aromatic after a particularly tasty meal. So I loaded up my Stanwell Royal Danish with Antietam that has been sealed in a Mason jar for what has to be close to five to six months.
This tobacco makes me angry.
Angry at the FDA for presuming to know what is best for us pipers...for taking away magnificent blends like this in a greedy money and power grab that is a violation of our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
This tobacco is shockingly good with age on it...something highly uncommon amongst aromatics.
And I just spent my tobacco budget on other (excellent) tobaccos not three days ago.
I hope there is still some left when I can place my next order.

Can't say I really detected a cherry note but maybe my palette isn't quite sophisticated enough. It is a very pleasant smoke with sweet overtones. You get a nice taste of sweet Cavendish Tobacco, with a solid hint of Cherry. I agree with a previous reviewer, that the best way to smoke it is with a slow sipping cadence. That really seems to help bring out the Black Cherry Flavor a bit more. Has a nice room note IMHO. Got a nice hour long smoke from my General Corn Cob with this tobacco. This tobacco is MELLOW. Nothing overwhelms you, but you get a solid taste of the Black Cavendish with just more than a hint of the Black Cherry. NOT goopy at all. Burns right down to White Ash.

Antietam is a fine aromatic blend that is a regular in my rotation.
The tin note offers a pleasing cherry aroma with hints of confectioneries and vanilla.
It lights easily and requires few relights.
It smokes cool with no tongue bite. It burns evenly and completely without a goopy mess, and leaves minimal dottle.
A gentle sipping cadence brings out the best of this blend - a mild cherry flavor that doesn't dominate the natural tobacco qualities.
If you enjoy aromatics then give Antietam a try - I think you'll agree that it's a quality blend for a great price (and the tin art is pretty cool too).

This is a very interesting blend. First it is nothing like what they show in the picture.. you expect to see black gold but it seems to have different tones from black to yellow. The smell is interesting but no cherry note that I can smell. If you smoke it to fast as i did the first time it can bite slightly so i can say it has no bite. Ok, I finally got a chance to smoke this blend and what a surprise I got. As i mentioned before upon opening the tin i did not smell any cherry note but what i discovered is a scent I havent smelled in over 40 years which was the primary reason i started smoking pipes in the first place and a scent that had eluded me from finding it among any other tobaccos until now.
It is an old fashion sent, sweet & fruity i would best describe it but not like any cherry. Perhaps some of the elder smokers here can pinpoint what it is I'm smelling in this blend ? The magic happened during the smoking process and not before. And what a delightful and pleaseant smoke it was guys. Actually smoking this blend doesnt smell like what your smelling out of the tin. This is what took me by suprise. My only other thought was I wish this distinctive aroma that I am smelling was a little more pronounced. I dont know what else is out in the market smells like this but it will do for me now that i finally found what I'm looking for in a tobacco blend.
Its burns slowly which gave me about 2 hours time to smoke it. It burns into a fine powdery ash when your finsihed. It ran cool. NO TOUNGE BITE ! I know P&P only gave the room note a low score but the room note for me lasted and lasted like no other Aromatic that i have been smoking. So this was also a big plus I wasn't expecting.
They say that finding your tobacco is like selecting a fine wine and I think I finally found my go to smoke from now on. This blend (Antietam) and Alamo are by far my favorite two blends out of the series. But Guys ! Give this one a try if you havent already, you might be pleasantly suprised like I was.

I didnt have time to smoke this blend yet but i did open the tin because i was curious what it smelled like.. The tin says it has a "smooth pleasant cherry note" but upon opening the tin it does not smell like cherry at all or any cherry ive ever smelled or eaten. I do not recognise this scent. It is an iteresting scent but maybe i'll have a better idea what it is when i smoke this. Most of BB blends pretty much smell like they say on the tins but this Antietam just doesnt smell like cherry to me. I am looking forward to smoking it and when I do i'll return to write a follow up on its performance. But dont be afraid to try it. Maybe your experiance will be different than mine ?
