Smooth, Mild & Gently Flavorful
Brigadier Black Bull Run - I enjoyed this blend very much! The most mellowest and mildest smoke I've had so far. It has a wonderful subtle creamy vanilla, caramel like flavor. Zero tongue bite, so it's very smooth. Can easily be an every day, all day smoke. Very pleasurable!

Bought all 6 flavors, they smoke fairly mild but the flavor and room note is not as strong as I was hoping for. It is hard to tell the peach, cherry and vanilla apart. Quality is okay, just not what I was looking for.

Mild, full bodied. It left your taste buds wanting more. It was truly delicious. It left aura aroma that was very relaxing and warming, reminding me of when I was a kid many years ago. Sidenote: the battle of Bull Run was literally my grandmother's backyard in Manassas, VA.

Bull Run is not bad.
Bull Run is not bad. I've been smoking Alamo which I really like. Bull Run is mild but doesn't quite have the taste or the aromatic of Alamo. I've tried all 4 and Alamo is my favorite.

a good mixture at a fair price
I smoke only once a day; so I am rather discriminating about my varieties of tobacco. The Brigadier Black has satisfied me generally. Generally, I prefer a cherry blended aromatic; however, I have smoked many others. This is described a vanilla blend, It smokes smoothly, good aroma and taste. It burns at at an even rate-so no bite or excessive heat. I just had opened and smoked twice a pouch of Peterson's Aran mixture. This is far better! Both were billed as vanilla; but what a difference! I have smoked several loads of this in various pipes.

My New Favorite
Has become my go to daily smoke. My wife and kids say it smells very nice. it smokes very cool and slow.

Pleasant aroma.
Was a bit harsh in the beginning. But smoothed out halfway down the bowl. 2nd bowl alot smoother no bite at all. Very enjoyable smoke.....

Not bad but a bit bitey
I didn't like this at first. It seemed a bit harsh and had an odd aftertaste to it. But after smoking a few bowls, it kind of grew on me. It has a nice aroma and people around me commented on how much they enjoyed the smell. It is extremely bitey though. No matter how slow and easy I smoked it, I would end up with a burnt tongue by the end of the bowl. I recently ordered the Anteitem version. It is advertised as "bite free". We shall see.

Full Flavor Smoke
I really like this blend. The smoke was cool and dry with abundance of flavor. Not too sweet with a nice rounded room note. Definitely purchase again.

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! Hands down the best smoke I have had in a LONG time!
I have been wanting to try these Brigadier Black blends for a while now and just finally ordered a 4 pouches because I was running low on everything else. I have only smoked Bull Run ONCE and I can't stop thinking about it! Hands down the best smoke I have had in a VERY LONG TIME! Honestly I am not even sure how I am going to muster the willpower to smoke anything BUT Bull Run or even try any of my other new blends until I completely run out of this one! The things I loved about it: 1. Good "tin note" - Maybe not the best I have ever smelled (see my review of Lane Buttered Rum), but definitely made me smile when I opened it and drew me into choosing it as my next smoke 2. WONDERFUL taste! Not too sweet, but definitely sweet! I don't do the fancy taste descriptions like some of the more seasoned tobacco reviewers do, but it was kinda nutty, with just a hint of like fruity sweetness but not TOO much like some other tobaccos. I dunno, that's the best I got. You just gotta try it! 3. Easy to keep lit and smokes REALLY SLOW! I usually smoke too fast...my puffing cadence is almost forced sometimes (out of habit) which goes back to the days when I was first starting to smoke pipes and had to consciously keep puffing every few seconds just to keep my pipe lit! I sat down with my friend who had just ordered some new premium cigars from P&C and my one medium bowl of Bull Run lasted well over an hour! I smoked on that ONE bowl of pipe tobacco for as long as he smoked that premium cigar! 4. Mellow and easy to smoke with no tongue bite! 5. Clean aftertaste! No aromatic "goopiness" that is present in some of the lower quality aromatic blends! Overall, it's AWESOME! I probably should have smoked it more than just once before I wrote the review but I literally COULD NOT HELP MYSELF, it was THAT good! I will update in a few weeks if I change my mind about it.

Very good. They seen to have a problem at times at keeping in stock. Also they put this white band on the can. Why not just print the warning on the can like other do.

GOOD STUFF!
I bought a can of this 2 years ago. I'd give an exact date, but that info has been wiped from the P&C Order History... Anyway, I just opened it. This is a FANTASTIC SMOKE - As is the ALAMO.

Buy a couple of cans!
I bought this in the 8 oz can without any high hopes or expectations. It's the sleeper surprise of the decade. Definitely an absolute aromatic with zero hint of English. Fantastic room note little or no bite and easy to smoke to the very draw hole of the bowl. A little wet at first opening, but an easy fix, aired about half of the can in a wooden bowl for a few hours the remixed it with the remainder of the can and ..... Near perfection.

Ok
Not bad, I like black Cavendish better, with a vanilla or chocolate note

It is a mild to moderately tasting tobacco.
I liked this tobacco and more importantly my wife appreciates the room note. It smokes down dry a fine gray ash. It has a pleasant taste of tobacco and chocolate/vanilla aroma.

makes for a nice morning smoke
A great blend. Good for that just before breakfast smoke. it has a slight yet not overpowering hint of vanilla.

Good Tobacco Blend
Being fond of vanilla blends, I've given a number of different versions a whirl. Brigadier will see me coming back for more Bull Run. Not a strong vanilla but overall a good quality tobacco blend at a reasonable price. One reviewer noted it tends to burn "fast", and agree it does. Nevertheless, it doesn't burn too "hot."

Faint Hint of Vanilla.
I bought this on a whim, and it is a good smoke, but when the description says hint of Vanilla, that is what it is. Just a very light hint. This is a good tobacco at a good price, but if the lingering vanilla is your main reason for the purchase, you may be disappointed. There are better vanilla blends, but I am not sorry I purchased it. Smokes well in my Missouri Corncob.

Simply good tobacco. Smooth but not too light. Good anytime blend. A lot of Virginia but still produces a great cloud of smoke with a pleasant room note.
Customer Testimonials
Very pleasant tin note upon opening. It has a light vanilla taste, not overwhelming, but the room note is distinctly vanilla. No bite, suitable for all day. Good cheap smoke.

Wow this stuff is amazing. I open the can all the time just to smell the tantalizing mixture but wait till you smell it burn. Absolutely outstanding in every way. You cannot go wrong here.
KS of Dell Rapids, SD
Ordered some last fall. Opened it May 23. Although I am not a fan of most aromatic blends, the tin note was very pleasant. The tobacco tasted good. To me it was a nice dry smoke, did not burn hot or bite or require relighting. This blend is heading for the top of my rotation. Good stuff and nice price.
NG of Lynn, MA
Great tobacco. Buying another pound. Smokes great in a wide Trevi.
SH of Hastings, MI
Very nice vanilla flavor, did not burn hot at all. Flavor was not overpowering at all. Reminded me of the local B&M house type blend. Room note was very pleasant. For a basic vanilla aromatic, no complaints. However, I think that Mac Baren Vanilla is a better taste and room note.......but for the price, this is very good smoke

I just received my tin of Bull Run moments ago in the mail, and like a little kid at Christmas, I cracked it open. At first whiff, it smells pretty nice. So I loaded my pipe and lit the chimney. After reading the description, I was expecting a bit more of a Vinilla flavor - couldn't really pick up on any whatsoever. Also, there is a bit more bite than I'm used to...it's kinda harsh. It's not the worst I've ever smoked, but I will go back to my Captain Black without hesitation after the tin is empty.
JV of Owensboro, KY
This turned into my new favorite tobacco, it has a beautiful tin aroma and tastes very good.
AF of New Brighton, MN
Very good aromatic at a great value will be stocking up on this.
LF of Eldorado, IL
My main sin has been alteranting pinch-pack of Frog Morton Cellar & SPS Molto Dolce, starting with the Cellar (which is dryer) to catch the moisture leaching from the Molto Dolce. This Frankenstein blend gives me a good smoke with a lot going on. I've been wanting to try the Brigadier Blacks for a while and I finally went with the Bull Run. It has a sort of velvety taste - Imagine a 50/50 mix of vanilla & chocolate pudding. I'm not disappointed. Packs good and burn evenly. Only one ash purge and spike it before the relight (after the initial ... & tap) usually is all that's necessary. However, it burns and smokes quick, too quick = almost like smoking a cigarette. I've been using my MO Meerschaum Ozark Hardwood Cherry Bent, filtered, w/Danish Replacement Stem. I found that I get a better, longer smoke in my MO Meerschaum Country Gentleman, unfiltered, w/Walker Briar Works 4-3/4” Mini Churchwarden Stem. TL/DR = This is some good stuff!
RS of Wheeling, IL
Very nice tobacco at a reasonable price.
