Brigadier Black Gettysburg pipe tobacco is a delightful mixture of nutty Burleys and zesty Virginias with a smooth, subtle peach undertone. The flavor is mellow and silky, and the room note is a true crowd-pleaser. If you want the sweet flavor of summertime, you can't do better than this peach pipe tobacco Brigadier Black Gettysburg.
I'm sorry Russ, I did not like this one. I purchased it for the Peach, cause being an old Cowboy and Cowboy Stuntman, Peaches are a big treat. We always had a can on hand and couldn't wait for that aroma. Well, Gettysburg has an over the top, completely overbearing, catch in the back of the throat, sickening sweet, fake Peach Candy taste. It smells good in the tin but after that it fails by comparison to Sherman's March a very well balanced blend. Maybe if you backed way way off on the Peach topping and gave it that hint, similar to Peach Nasal Snuff it might be one I would try again but as is, no thanks.
I think I will now change to Brigadier Black's Gettysburg as my new favorite and replace my old favorite, which was John Rolfe Alterative. Regards, Oiva from Harbor Oregon
On opening the tin, the peach flavor is a little overpowering, almost to the point of turning you off. It is a little wet, so I would advise letting it sit out for a little before lighting. After about 5 minutes of smoking, there is an amazing flavor. Not over powering at all. It is a very pleasant smoke, and actually surprised me how good it was considering the price. Room note is good, very light/fruit aroma
If your an aromatic smoker your going to love this blend
Tin note is a heavy, candied peach scent. Not unpleasantly sweet, but not quite what a fresh peach would smell like. A dry pull of the pipe after packing gave a really pleasant peach taste. I'm a Frank Method advocate, and after packing this tobacco took 5-6 charring lights before it started to burn on its own. Once burning, though.. wow. A slow, even cadence with this tobacco gave me loads of nutty, peachy, honey-sweet smoke. I didn't push this tobacco, but even on the few relights I didn't detect any tingle of a promised tongue bite. Another reviewer mentioned that the room note is like a baked peach pie, and that's exactly right. Peach pie, or a spiced peach cobbler. Delicious stuff.
On a seemingly never ending search for a fruity aromatic tobacco that doesn't bite like a pit bull I ran across Brigadier Black Gettysburg. I found what I was looking for, upon opening the tin, I was met with a pleasant, but not overbearing peach scent. Once lit, it required minimal relights, and filled the room with a mild peach scent. The flavoring did not completely over take the tobacco as seems to happen with this blends and I notice very little bite.
There are only a few things that I expect from an aromatic. I want it to taste good and different from anything else. With Gettysburg, I get that and more. It is a unique flavor that I really like. I'm working this into my rotation, and I believe that I will favor this beyond other aromatics.
I finally tried this blend while relaxing on our deck. A beautiful, summer evening - perfect for a peach blend. Even though my Crown Achievement Billiard is not fully broken in, this tobacco smoked cool and was delicious. The peach aroma was not over-powering. It was just right! The blend reminds me of Sutliff Private Stock Taste of Summer.
The description says "subtle peach undertone", but it is far from subtle. It has a powerful peach tin note, but it doesn't taste very good to me. It left an unpleasant after-taste and coating in my mouth after smoking it. This one is definitely not for me and now I'm stuck with 8 oz of it. LOL
the peach note is very strong but the flavor is mild, found mixing it with super value black made a very satisfying economical smoke I do all day with no bite. I am retired so I do mean all day.
Honestly I cannot add anything that previous reviewers haven't said. If you like aromatics, this is pretty incredible stuff. Almost no bite, and the wonderful smell of peaches. It is pretty moist out of the can so I tend to let it dry a bit. Once I do that it stays lit and is just amazing to smoke. You will definitely enjoy this smoke.
I owned a pipe for a couple years without really enjoying it much until a friend gave me a sample of this. It's a great smoke with subtle flavor; I've since tried some Cavendish aromatics and not liked their sickly sweet aroma (personal preference), but this was perfect for sitting on the porch talking on a chilly evening.
I really like this tobacco! Has a aroma of fresh, ripe peach! There is no bite and to me is very mild! I enjoy this in the evening for a nice relaxing smoke. No complaints from family or friends when smoking! Leaves the room smelling of a fresh baked peach pie. Will keep a tin of this on hand!
I tried the Waterloo first and found it to have a little bit too much bite for me, I then ordered the Gettysburg and found it to be very good. It packs well, stays lit, burns clear to the bottom of the bowl, the aroma is awesome and the taste is exceptional and very sweet, just the way I like it. I will be ordering this blend quite often and I will be trying the Alamo and the Bull Run also. The Gettysburg is a definite keeper!
