Outstanding result all around. Checks all my boxes with no asterisk. Particularly nice in cooler weather outdoors. (I never smoke indoors.) Another home run would be to make a flake version, something pressed tight to age and mature in the tin.

I was asked to try this by a great friend. I have been a cigar smoker for over 30 years so I know already how good a product from CAO is, but I love my pipes as well. It became my #1 after 13 years of CBR being my top favorite upon first trying it a few weeks or so ago. This is excellent stuff! The aroma and taste is very similar to CBR, this being an enhancement of the two. It's smooth, flavorful and it doesn't bite.

Like some other reviews have stated, the tobacco smoke cool. Very cool! It was a constant joy to just puff away. The aroma is lovely. The smell of raspberry and chocolate are light and not at all overwhelming like some aromatics. The one downside, it has almost no flavor that I can pick up on. So, if you just want a smoke that smells great, and smokes cool, definitely get this!

I did enjoy this CAO Black. It has a smooth vanilla and raspberry taste with a slight coco note in the background. It is not over powering but yet constant throughout the bowl. It remains mellow with no bite and burns cool. Moisture is right on the money. Room note is nice and pleasant. When smoking this I prefer to sip on it which enhances the flavor. Like most aromatics, If you stoke too hard, it will diminish in flavor. For me it is a good evening smoke when you can relax and enjoy its full potential. I like my aromatics and do like sweet ones. All in all it's a nice change when you want something that's not quite so sweet such as Molto Dolce. I found it very similar to Peter Stokkebye 201 Black Cavendish with CAO having more of a flavor profile. I will keep this one in my rotation.

CAO black is one of the more enjoyable aromatics I’ve tried. The black cavendish is a good base with the raspberry flavor definitely taking the front seat. it’s smokes well and keeps its flavor till the end of the bowl.

I'm lucky to have happened upon this tobacco. Of the 50 plus tobaccos I tried this past year I always go back to CAO Black. I wish it was packaged in bulk as I would try to have at least a pound on hand at all times. It's sometimes hard to find.

I really like this. It reminds me of chocolate raspberry coffee (which it paired nicely with) and although I have been advised against paring it with chocolate, It makes Mallomars taste even better! I got absolutely no tongue bite from this tobacco, nice flavor and great aroma.

While very new to pipe smoking I've sampled a few different types at this point and this for me is right up there with 1Q, MacBaren Royal and Frog Morton. A little moist coming out of the tin but great flavor, fantastic room note and you can pull like mad on the pipe with no bite !!!. Slow it down and the nuances all come out.

I smoke the CA0 as a break from my usual stuff. Good scent, and a flavor that stays with the whole bowl.
I bought an Estate pipe at the same time. it was a $60.00 Dr Grabow. Varnish blistered, and the pipe tastes like I am drawing the smoke thru mildewed sweat socks.
So, five stars for the CAO and 0 for the pipe.

This is another solid offering from CAO that isn't overwhelming with the casing. The flavor of berry and chocolate is light throughout the entire smoke if you sip. It will get quite warm as any other aro but isn't a burner either.

I didn't really care for this blend. It was ok for about the first 3rd of the bowl, then it seemed to loose it's flavor. Tried it in several different sized bowls, with the same results. Disappointing, because I enjoy a few other CAO blends. This one just didn't do it for me. Moisture content was good, packed well, stayed lit fairly well, flavor was good at the start, but fades away rather quickly. By the end of a bowl, it is a boring flavorless smoke.

Absolutely one of my all-time favorite blends! I've had so many wonderful compliments of it's beautiful aroma that I was happy and well relaxed when enjoying it! The cherry and vanilla are well distinguished throughout the smoke and the hint of chocolate is well hidden throughout the tobacco as well. I would smoke this so much that I wish I could buy numerous tins of it! Well, I recommend this highly to anyone who wants a good aromatic smoke with many compliments their way :)

CAO Black Is Well Worth The Experience

CAO Black reminds me a lot of Captain Black regular and Lane BCA. But there is really no comparison here. CAO Black stands on its own qualities and I buy it when I want variety. I have only found a few classic legendary pipe tobaccos and CAO Black is one for me. I will have to try others in the brand because a lot of good tobaccos come from the same line and is the standard I look for. The CAO sampler is on my wish list and I give this one 5 stars.

Cao Black is a fruity desert tobacco. After having a half-tin, here are my notes:
No tongue bite. Mellow, girlfriend-approved room note. For me, the tin note smelled too strong of raspberries. This will prevent me from buying Cao Black again, although those who like cherry-type tobaccos may find the fruity note pleasurable. My tin needed to be dried for a full day. The smoke was surprisingly more pleasant than the tin note, as the raspberry aroma, while noticeable, wasn't overpowering and eventually gave way to a cocoa flavor. What I liked best about the blend was that it burned cooler than I expected. The nicotine buzz was also nice and mild. I had anxiety the fruity notes would stain my bowl, but thus far, this hasn't happened.

Every once in a while I satisfy my sweet tooth with tobacco. This one fits the bill. The tin note is amazing, mine was not overly moist as others have noted. It burned well with minimal relights - none until I neared the bottom of the bowl. The room note got the "wife seal of approval." On the downside, I wish it had a little more tobacco taste to it and a little more kick. No matter how hard I pushed IT DID NOT BITE. Overall - not a bad smoke

When I first opened it I was worried it was going smoke wet as it was a little moist in the tin, fortunately I was wrong, coolest and driest burning flavored tobacco I have ever smoked and has no bite to speak of. Raspberries and coco are present along with plenty of tobacco taste coming through. Oddly enough it is a very light blend that produces a lot of thick smoke and doesn't leave you with a artificial or bad lingering taste. Great for new smokers or someone that wants a high quality flavored smoke.
