My new favorite is Captain Black Grape. As did others, I thought it might be too much, but after trying a pouch, I knew I'd want a can and preferably a pound of bulk. Come on Lane, sell it in bulk! The can came more than a bit dry, but putting a couple humidifier disks in and it was fine. I have no problem with it ghosting my pipes as I choose a few that I won't smoke it in and the ones I do, just enhances whatever else I'm smoking.

Blended with any generic tobacco makes a tasty cig.

It has been a long time I had smoke Captain Black Grape. Bring me good memories. I forgot how good it is.

This is my #1 pipe tobacco I smoke. And my wife likes the aroma.

It’s ok but not great, worth a try.

Surprise surprise this was an unexpected like for me.I thought it would come really wet and goopy but in actuality it was semi-dry and ready to smoke right out of the pouch. The smell is very aromatic grape,it lights very easily,stays lit and surprisingly burns down to a fine ash. in the pouch it has a VERY strong grape candy or Kool-Aid smell.While smoking,I feel no bite and not an overwhelming flavor of grape,however the grape essence is definitely present all the way to the bottom of the bowl. I find that just like the other types of Captain Black tobaccos, this one is really pretty good. If you are a person who likes aromatic tobaccos, add this to your collection.It does not burn hot and does not gunk up my pipe at all.

People like to look down on Captain Black Original, but I've always enjoyed it. Their normal cherry is good, and the now elusive Red Sky is quite exquisite. Their brand is my go-to drug-store tobacco. Grape is, at least in the State of Alabama, pretty much a non-existent flavor in the few tobacco shops around. So I was intrigued to try their grape flavor. I'm pleased to say it was a great smoke and has quickly moved to one of my favorite smokes! The aroma is pleasant and will definitely turn a few heads in surprise if you're walking down the street with it in pipe. If you like Captain Black normally you'll definitely enjoy this flavor, as I'd say it exceeds the Cherry blend. If Captain Black isn't your forte I'd still advise you give it a light.

I was intrigued by the reviews for this and decided to give it a whirl. It really smells just like grape kool-aid or grape soda! The taste isn't as strong as the smell in the pouch and the room note is mild, but there. Definitely not something I'd smoke daily, but it is good for a sweet treat!

Kind of fast burning grate smell

Captain Black's Grape blend is a pleasant smoke. The flavor is reminiscent of grape soda, and there is little complexity in the mix. It certainly does not rank with the great aros out there, but it is a nice little addition for the aromatic fan.

not a good everyday smoke but when you want a SWEET Change... makes me think of grape soda. lots of compliments on room note!

It smokes well, smells great, and has a good flavor. My only complaint is that it was dry. Cavendish is always moist, this wasn't, which makes me wonder how long P&C had it.

I first started with the cherry until I tried the grape for the first time. Now I'm hooked on the grape. Wonderful taste and aroma.

Fairly pleasant! Others have told me that the aroma definitely smells of grape and I've received compliments from those in my vicinity when lighting up. Not a bad smoke.

I do not usually care for "flavored" tobacco but. Captain Black grape is very smooth smoke after smoke and the room note is extremely pleasing. I would not hesitate to recommend it to fellow pipe smokers

Not overwhelming. Interesting change of pace.

I had heard good things about it,so I had to try it myself. I does smell like a fake grape but when you smoke it , it's not at strong. Wife liked the room note. You can taste the flavor but not to much.

It’s very fine and I found that flakes were very easy to pass through the pipe. I recommend using a pipe with filter unless you like spitting out tobacco flakes. Other than that it smells so good. It’s better than any other car fresheners I have ever tried. Tasted a hint of the Grape at the finish that is pleasant. A+ love it.

If you are in the mood for a mild lightly flavored very aromatic tobacco, then this is for you. Many good comments from those around me about how good it smells. I will definetly buy more.

This reminds me of the original captain black, with a pretty profound kick of grape flavor. Overall, an enjoyable smoke.

I always order for my husband! He loves Captain Black. I thought he would like the grape and he absolutely loved it. It reminds me of the bubble gum “tape” I used to get as a child. 😀

Its not bad, its grape for sure-big league chew. It will ghost your pipe so I would dedicate a cob to it.

Not a bad tobacco at all and the smell when you open the pouch takes you straight back your childhood when you would open up a pouch of grape Big League Chew. It's mouth watering! I have to be careful because I almost forget I'm holding a pouch of tobacco and not bubble gum because the smell makes me want to pinch some off and start chewing it.

This is one of the few aromatic flavors that I could actually taste. It also smells like grape. Although I am enjoying smoking it. I would buy it again

It’s pretty decent. Just beware it will leave a ghost in your bowl. A few smokes of Lane 1Q, the grape flavor is gone. Not a bad smoke. Very different though.

Smells like grape big league chew in the pouch, yet smokes very well with just a hint of grape in the taste and smell. Bought a pouch to try and ended up getting a tin because I will smoke it pretty frequently.

Imagine it's a gentle lazy summer morning, there is a tasty fragrance of toasted grape in the air. This is the impression one gets when this CAPTAIN BLACK GRAPE is explored. It doesn't bite. The aroma is very pleasant and satisfying to the taste-buds. I was never expecting this and to my surprise, ~ found this tobacco a refreshing break from my usual brand. Instead of the overwhelming tobacco aura, I found with most CAPTAIN BLACK products, this was more to my taste. One of the more delightful and pleasent surprises I have recently sumbled upon.

i really enjoy wine black and mild cigars. the closest pipe pouch middletons has is cherry and to this day middleton's makes my favorite cherry pipe tobacco but i think that captain black grape may have just surpassed the wine black and mild tip

Attention: I would definitely recommend having ä pipe for ONLY the grape. It will leave a ghost behind and no matter how hard you try to get rid of it or what you smoke afterwards, the grape always comes through. Like all the other Captain Black blends, this one's no exception, it's great, if you like grape.

Great tasting great smelling tobacco wether in the pouch or in the pipe this is my new favorite.

They always said I would grow out of 1Q still my go to, 25 years later. That being said I thought grape, why not? Opened the pouch nice smell, packed the old cob, not to dry almost no stems, lit it up and almost no flavor. Could be my pallet but very week. The wife said the room note reminded her of hubba bubba grape chewing gum. Not one I'd put in my rotation.

Love captain black tobaccos in general but grape is my new favorite. I tried a pouch of it and just ordered a tin! The most distinctive fruity flavor ever. Better than bubble gum!

Intense grape aroma and flavor. Soda pop type aroma. Using this as a subtle blending agent in some blends and a full on dessert blend smoked full strength. Say what you will, but this tobacco has fine attributes in its own way.

I'm embarrassingly new to pipe smoking, but thought I'd try this unusual flavor. To my surprise, this grape is the best (IMHO): smokes cool, holds the grapey-ness throughout, no bite, becomes floral almost. Most pleasant! Great room note, too. What's not to love? Surprised and delighted!

never had a grape tobacco like it great flavor through out the bowl will stock up on this . great job lane I hope you continue making it

Absolutely my new favorite tobacco. Understand, though, that grape was always my favorite Swisher Sweets when I first started. I always called it "dessert". This tobacco is sweet. It smokes like it smells. My wife doesn't like the smell of most tobaccos, but she will come sit with me when I smoke this. 100% my favorite. Wish I could have an unlimited supply.

This is absolutely delicious tobacco! It's unique - unlike any other aromatic I've smoked. The scent of the tobacco instantly brings nostalgia. As a kid, I drank a lot of grape Fanta soda. Can't do that anymore but this is the next best thing - yet without the sugar and carbs. It also holds it's flavor to the bottom of the bowl - smokes just like it smells in the pouch. This will be my go to summer tobac.

Wow incredible Captain Black Cherry and Grape Personal Favorites!

Just not for my taste but I appreciate whatever method they used to flavor the blend. No stickiness or perfume taste real grape flavor and the tobacco used was was still tasty. I guess grape is not for my taste. Would also like to thank you for the great service.

I love Captain Black products. All of them have their own place in my collection. I wanted to add grape and did so. My wife loves the room note, I like the flavor and how easily it is to light and stay lit. This is a must have for any Captain Black fan!

If you are looking for an Aromatic pipe tobacco which has flavor through the roof, this is it. I can't say enough about how good this is - when you open the sealed bag, its like a grape punch in the face. Smells like a grape lollipop from when you were a kid. Great tin note, outstanding room note, and the taste is out of this world. Perfect balacnce of the grape flavor and of the tobacco! Home run, Captain Black!

My new favorite. It does need to sit for about a week after taking pouch out of the cellophane wrapper. Has AWESOME room note and flavor and is easy to smoke. My wife likes that my mustache and beard smells like grapes after smoking after smoking a bowl too.

This was another good smoke from Captain Black but it was just a little too strong for me. I probably could have cut it down with something smoother to make it a better smoke for me. Kind of like the cherry, just a little more overpowering. As far as aromatic, it's very aromatic, but those aren't the kinds I'm terribly into. Still, I think it was totally worth the try and am still a Captain Black fan, but the white is still my favorite...

A pretty good flavor in my opinion, but a little too strong, overall, to me. Maybe if I cut it with something a little more mellow, it might be a great smoke...even better than cherry, but even Cherry for my is a little overpowering anymore. Still, it was well worth the try!!!

I was expecting a sweet, goopy taste but instead got a mild, lightly sweet taste. To me, it's not like any other Captain Black. While I don't think I could smoke it all day long (I'm an English blend guy), it is a nice, light, and change of pace tobacco.

It smokes and burns well.. but unless the idea of packing your pipe with grape bubblegum appeals to you, I wouldn't buy it.

At first, it was way too potent, almost nauseating. It took a couple of days of "airing out" and now I find it most appealing. Not an every day smoke for sure, but a very nice treat for a change of pace. No bite and by far, the most aromatic of the Captain Black line of tobacco.

My Dad really enjoyed the flavor and I enjoyed the scent!

Very Unusual Blend From CB

Bought this tobacco as a last minute item. Did not expect much from this, I was wrong to think that. Great flavor, lit and burned well, didn't get goopy at the end. Smoke it a tad bit slower than normal or it may bite. If you like the other Captain Blacks, go ahead and give this a try.

Captain Black Grape was an unexpected surprise. It is as "grapey-favorable" as the Captain Black Cherry is Cherry-delicious from the pouch to bottom of the bowl without to flavor-goo. Both blends I plan to buy the 12 oz when they are available. I mainly prefer English Blends, to please my wife, I rotate & enjoy Captain Black’s aromatic blends to bring balance in room aroma.This speaks highly to be approved by her. Keep the sales coming! flavor strong taste ok

Unique, good however, not amazing. The smell is very potent out of the bag and in a sense reminds me of swisher grape cigars. The taste to me was very pleasant and had that same"Regular" blend goodness with a tart berry taste that did last throughout the bowl. This blend does tend to ghost your pipe so I would dedicate a particular pipe if you are not used to this blend. Not an everyday smoke but I would say it is quite a zesty treat every now and then. I will definitely order more.

The grape aroma is quite strong out of the can. An artificial concord grape smell. The flavor is not very prominent when smoked. I actually wished it would have a stronger grape taste. Burns easy, with minimal relights. I was excited to smoke grape, but it was not bad. Nice change of pace smoke, when you want something different. Would buy again if on sale.

It's a tobacco that's a grape effect and the second pipe ful smoked better than first. It's worth a try I say. ...

I have to admit it, I was a bit apprehensive about this blend when I first ordered it. I've always been a fan of the Captain Black products and have a special fondness for the Original blend as well as Royal and Gold. I never tried either the Dark or Round so I purchased the sampler which included the Original, Gold, Royal, Round, and Dark (at a great price I must add). I'm a bit of a completest about things so to round out the collection of Captain Black blends I also ordered both Copper and Grape which were not in the sampler. When the order arrived I immediately gravitated towards the Dark, Round, and Copper - holding off on the Grape until the end - not expecting much. But once I cracked open the pouch and got a whiff my interest piqued and a wave of nostalgia washed over my body ... it smelled like a bag of Jolly Rancher grape candy. And once I lit it up it tasted exactly as it smelled. The folks at Lane Limited must have soaked the Captain Black original blend in a vat of NEHI Grape Soda. And it has a distinct grape room note as well. Now I'm sure fans of English blends will be gagging at the very thought of this ... but for the aromatic pipe smoker looking for a quirky change of pace from your favorite vanilla. chocolate, or maple blend ... this is a refreshing possibility. Not something I'll smoke on a regular basis - but as an occasional smoke this fits the bill. I probably wouldn't highly recommend it ... but might nudge the adventurous aromatic smoker to give it a shot. You too might be pleasantly surprised.

Least favorite of the Captain Black blends. Grape aroma is strong from the pouch. This blend did not suit my taste. I prefer the Royal and the Black Cavendish blends.

I find this blend the same as others from Lane LTD except it's scrumptious aroma! It a shame Pipes and cigars will not be selling it any more! ILove the flavor, no bite, burns great,delightful room note. It makes me want to smoke the hole pouch at once! So... now I'll have to search else where for this delicious Grape tobacco!!$

The Captain Black tobacco varieties are all very good, but this one is awesome! Its like a grape cigarillo times ten! So tasty! I will definitely be ordering more!

I recently purchased the Captain Black Sampler and decided to make it complete by buying a pouch of Copper and Grape as well ... really not expecting much from the grape. Well to my surprise the grape turned out to be exceptionally pleasant. It was a nostalgic blast from the past ... like sipping on a bottle of NEHI Grape soda. Sweet and refreshing. It taste exactly as it smells in the pouch and leaves behind a very nice room note. As with most Captain Black tobaccos they tend to dry out my mouth a bit more than the Sutliff aromatics I usually smoke. But all and all the Grape Captain Black was a great smoking experience.

Not good. This taste is not the best for a pipe tobacco. Great air freshener without lighting up. I don't know if I even want to mix it with another tobacco. I will stick with the White, Black, or Royal.

Just take a bunch of grape lollipops, add tobacco and there you have this mess. My wife the smell and the taste is over powering. Capt. Black really drop the ball on this one!!! This they kept and dropped Midnight Gold. Go figure.

Ok friends of all baccys aromatic...here goes....think of that grape popcicle on a hot summer day. after your done you might take a lick at the stick just before you trash it...ok i gave this blend a good 90 minute workout in 2 different MM's so here goes.....I LOVE IT....out of all the many fruity and flavored blends i have had in these long 44 years of piping this flavor stands out with the best of them. I even had a thumbs up from the better half on the room note, as she described...it smells like a kitchen cooking grape jelly. Now i will say this, like many heavily flavored aro's it will nibble at your tongue if you try to smoke it too fast. just ease into it..you may have to relight a couple of times as i did, but once you get the pipe going it is a very pleasant smoke. actually had near perfect ash in the first pipeful after 40 minutes. The grape taste is oh so prevalent and to me it was like finishing that grape popcicle. The taste does stay with you and i can still whiff the room note lingering...all grape!!! I know even some in the Aro-Crowd have varied tastes so remember mine is just a 1st person experience and thats what makes all of us pipers a fraternity....different strokes for different folks , that's the beauty of this hobby of ours. Captain Black has never let me down in all these years and i recommend this blend unless you do not like Grape. I also suggest anyone who gives this blend a test...use a pipe that your not afraid of a ghost in. Enjoy this great Sunday friends and keep the fire burnin!

Grape. Weird. I just did a search for grape on P&C and only two options came up. This and something else. In any case I give this a 5 because well it's as advertised. It's smooth and tastes like grape. I'm willing to bet that a lot of people will think it's too sweet or medicinal/syrupy tasting but I think it tastes like grape soda and/or candy. In a way I find this blend innovative as it's simple, a common flavor in many things but not in pipe tobacco. Captain Black set sail to a familiar shore and came up with this. It's actually pretty tasty and is exactly as advertised. 5 stars for honesty, quality and simple innovation.
