Captain Black Pipe Lighter

This is a great lighter for pipes. I’m into my second lighter now. Guess I wore it out after nine months or so.

I've had this lighter for a little over a year. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it doesn't have a window showing the level of fluid. HOWEVER, the fluid does not evaporate like some lighters (especially Zippos!). When I first received it and started using it, it seemed to run low on fluid quickly. But, I've also let it sit for weeks to months and it kept its fluid. One thing I like is that you don't need tools to adjust the flame level; there's an easy to use dial on the bottom. Adjust it too high and it will be almost like a torch...I'm not kidding. This lighter is powerful and a must have!

Good lighter for the price wind resistant, reliable when needing a light for pipe users.

Every item was perfect. My son loved the pipe, especially the East Indian Tobacco. The best he has ever had.

I wasn’t expecting a great deal from these inexpensive pipe lighters. However, I have found them to be sublime in quality! I own three of them and all have performed well above my expectations. I would recommend them to any pipe smoker who is new or seasoned. They simply work every time.

Nice hefty lighter. Gunmetal and navy blue look as pictured. Purging the air out of the line was a bit of a pain, but it always is on a first-time fill. Lights good with an even flame.

good lighter, but there was no instructions with the lighter.

After having this lighter for a short period, I find it difficult to strike up in the mildest of wind. The adjustable flame is great and meets my needs. the flame adjuster is such that when lighting, I accidentally adjust it making it further difficult to strike up. The attached tamper is convenient and effective.

For those that can’t get it to light you have to get the air out first.Use a cheap 3 way pipe tool. The rod is perfect for that purpose. Then the lighter will fill all the way

Great lighter, it works on the first click most of the time. I love the flame adjustment wheel and the pipe tamper. The trick to any butane lighter is to use good, clean butane which costs more but it's worth it for reliable lighter use.

Fantastic Light but could use mor fluid storage and a better tamper

This lighter looks awesome. It feels well made and it comes with a little pipe tool on the base. Fuel control is very convenient on the bottom. Very satisfied!

It's a good lighter. First one would not light, but replacement works as advertised. I have no problems with it other than it takes sometimes several times to light my pipes.

Bought 2 of them one of them had a butane leak and it kept back flashing to my thumb when using it to cause me to drop the lighter to prevent a serious burn. The other one was good

The is an easy smoke no bite and you can enjoy all day

First, this is a beautiful lighter. I love the look and feel of it. However, I'm not sure if my expectations were too high, or if my butane supply suddenly inadequate, but the flame on this lighter is weak. It's certainly not useful outside if there's even the slightest breeze.

Haven't had it long enough to make a final decision. So far it has performed very well. The flame on the side is much better than any of the other positions of other lighters since it gives a direct hit in the tobacco in the bowl.

like all electric start lighters, they don't want to light when it's cold. It works fine when full, seems to take alot of fuel

Don’t think that it truly matters where the flame comes out! Seems like it is just a ploy to make pipe smokers want it. A Vic lighter does the same job

I got my lighter and it would not light no matter what I did. Notified customer service of my problem and they sent me a replacement right away. This one works great on the first or second strike and I'm very happy with it.

Nice lighter. Good, heavy feel with nice flame direction and control. Unfortunately it's just a 'house lighter', as there is no fuel window and it's too heavy to feel it's capacity. Hard to know how full it is so it stays home, good otherwise.

Doesn't lite very well if there is any kind of a breeze.

Looks and feels great. Usually takes 2 or 3 clicks to light up (more if there is even a little wind), but works great once lit.

When it lights it is fine. The problem being that it takes multiple strikes to get it to burn!

Needs ‘more force’ for flame. Slight breeze will not allow lighter to ignite. Convenient sized, easy to operate.

Neat little lighter.

Great lighter esp for the price. Had this for a year now and it's the one I find most often in my hand lighting my pipes. Nice size - smaller than others with built-in tamper. Love that it has an flame adjustment you don't need to use a screwdriver to adjust. Reliable lights. Fill with quality fuel, purge, and should not have an issue lighting. Flame is consistent. Solid build - I've had two other brands where button stopped working. Definitely recommend and I'm buying another (maybe even two).

Haven’t started using it yet. Still using a Captain Black lighter I received from you a year ago. Works fine and is more dependable than other lighters I’ve had in the past.

easy to light and works great

Not much range to flame adjustment but just enough. Short tamper...not effective...don't know why it was included. Too short to pick out dottle or clear the shank. Lights fairly reliably. I don't regret buying it.

I admit I was attracted by the price but this Captain Black pipe lighter is as good as one 3Xs the price. So I ordered another! Gunmetal finish and blue and black logo.

Lights easy

Function; have trouble getting it to light up. But it looks great, I’ve got to get the + & - set right to get it fired up.

The lighter works good and has a good flame.

This lighter has a great feel. Heavy weight but not bulky. It functions properly 95% of the time on the first or second strike. I appreciated the packaging the lighter came in too; let’s you know that it is a premium lighter with premium packaging.

So far this lighter has worked very well. I’ve had it several weeks and no problem at all.

Great lighter for the money. Lights first click every time. I recommend only using very high quality butane, though. Very nice-looking, also. Reliability for a great price!

Perfect lighter for the pipe user. My brother has been a ziippo user since VietNam and wont use anything else. This was a perfect gift.

It's a great lighter

Love this lighter, especially with the Captain Black logo on it. It lights every time and the easily adjustable flame and the added tamper. Hope it lasts and lasts and lasts.

when it lights it works well, can't seem to get it refilled, probably an error on my end.

The light was great and so far the condition of the lighter has shoot up. I normally carry a lighter in my pocket all day every day. I enjoy the soft flame and the functionality of the lighter.

I like this lighter, but...it has a couple issues. It's built well and feels good in the hand. Nice and solid. The issues I have are as follows. The flame adjustment wheel tends to get moved just by handing the lighter on a daily basis. Also sometimes I'll set the flame to where I like it, but then next time I use it the flame will be too low or super high. I like my Xikar better.

There are more expensive pipe lighters out there. Exquisite wood and metal sculptures costing hundreds of dollars. The Captain Black is a spot on value. Easily adjustable flame, I only have to fill it once every couple weeks. I do suggest having one in your pocket whenever your pipe is in your mouth.

would not light so l took it apart now it works great lights every time now I wish holds more butane fuel I use this lighter for a back up I mostly use my Zippo

I could have used some instructions, I had to use the internet to figure out how to fill it. Then I had to order a can of butane. A fuel gauge would be nice too. Makes me wish people smoked again so I could pull it out of my pocket and light ladies' cigarettes in a manly way!

It's what I expected a lighter to be. Lights consistently but not in a breeze, or fan. Took a little fiddling with to get adjusted just right. Dependable. Buy one—especially if you can get it in a package deal like I did.

This is a nice lighter but the fuel reservoir is too small for a pipe smoker. Drop the tamper and increase the fuel tank size. Thanks

This pipe lighter is a very good one. Lightweight, easy to use, actually works and provides a super flame. The only thing it lacks is a guage to indicate the amount of butane in it. I like the design and, of course, the color as well as the Captain Black design on the side especially so as I am a Captain Black (Lane) tobacco fan. Well worth the modest cost.

This lighter has a very soft flame for pipes. It is easily adjustable and I just like it!!

Lights well, but needs refilling almost every day. Went through a whole can of butane in about a week and a half. Something is wrong with it, or it leaks. Works great, but it's getting expensive to use.

I've tried all kinds of pipe lighters and this one is by far the best. Easy to refill, easy to adjust, reliable, and can be used without scorching one's fingers (or the rim of the bowl).
