Copy says it's subtle, but the cherry flavor is as subtle as a hammer. Supposedly a premium blend, the cherry flavor overrides all else and tastes harsh. Not one I intend to buy again.

Very smooth and tasty. It has kind of a creamy taste and a wonderful room note. The cherry flavor is not over powering and pleasant. I have a large living room that I smoke in and close off at the end of the day, the next day when I came in to drink my coffee in the morning there was a very slight cherry smell still in the room. I couldn't wait to load another bowl,relax,and watch the snow fall for awhile before I started my day.

My wife has always enjoyed the aroma of cherry tobacco. So even though it burned hot and had a terrible bite I would smoke it occasionally. Especially if we were on a trip and we were close when I smoked. I even tried cherry bomb which I heard was the best out there and it was a distinct improvement. Then I saw the ad for Captain black Copper and red sky. The copper is now my daily smoke and Red Sky is my cherry blend of choice. No bite. It burns slow and cool without a lot of re-lights. You don't have the over powering cherry taste that is sickening sweet but still a pleasant taste and decent aroma. No complaints from the wife. So I will now chose Red Sky when a cherry smoke is wanted.

This is one of my favorite tobaccos, along with Capt. Black Black Sky (also won't get you high, tonight). A nice, smooth smoke, easy on the tongue. Just the right amount of cherry, not overwhelming, but you can definitely taste and smell it.
I like to mix the two aforementioned Capt. Black tobaccos together, sometimes, too.

Red sky is the first cherry like tobacco that i have tried.....I LOVE THIS STUFF!!! there is just the right amount of cherry with another sweet mix i cant quite put my finger on. there is no tongue bite AT ALL with this tobacco and it stays nicely lit which is AWESOME! this tobacco has snuggled comfortably into my nightly routine. i have a bowl of this and a cup of decaf before bed and mmmmhmm does it hit the spot!! Oh and thank you pipes and cigars for the fast shipping! p.s. i will be buying more of this for sure!

This is my favorite tobacco to smoke in the evening. It smokes cool and dry and I find it perfect for a long smoke at the end of the day in one of my churchwarden pipes. Weather permitting, I sit outside of the porch and slowly puff away at this and relax in the evening. Subtle cherry flavor, is not overwhelming or overly sweet. Its mild enough for a long smoke. Dry enough, moisture does not build up over time. Simply a wonderful way to end a long day.

Having been a fan of Captain Black for many years, I decided to try their premium tinned offerings and Red Sky has become an unexpected favorite of mine. The cherry is noticeable both in the aroma and on the palate but not overpowering. It also burns well and often goes to the bottom of the bowl on a single light. I'll continue to explore other cherry blends but for now, I will be keeping a tin of Red Sky on hand.

I've only recently ventured into "cherry blends". This one smokes fairly well with only a light flavoring. It's certainly a step up from their drug store offerings but for my taste a bit too light, a neutral 3 stars. For a much better tobacco/cherry taste I'll stick with Cult Blood Red Moon.

I love this blend. The Virginias and Cavendish work perfectly with the cherry flavoring. It smokes best at low temperature with steady and light drawing. This way, the cherry flavor lingers longer on the pallet and fades into the tobaccos later in the bowl to create a subtle vanilla taste. Very well done.

I smoke Cap’n Black original most of the time with some other custom blends and orientals. I like a cherry flavor on occasion and found this to be very pleasant. The first puff or two provides a bold, but not overpowering cherry taste. As the bowl progresses, my tongue gets accomodated to the flavor and continues with a mild cherry overtone. Not too sweet or too strong, as many cherries are.

Since I'm not fond of cherry I had this tin stored for about eight months and finally opened it up yesterday. What a pleasant surprise! The cherry flavor comes through loud and clear but yet seems to balance well with the tobacco flavor. I smoke outside and have a bad habit of getting in a hurry and smoking too hot. Captain Black Red Sky stayed smooth with no harshness or bite all the way through the bowl. This is really good stuff and I can't believe I'm considering adding a cherry to my regular rotation. Thank you Captain Black and P&C for offering such a great smoke!

I got the same smoking performance out of this blend as Midnight Gold and is eaqually as pleasurable. The aroma is not of the black cherrys but the maraschino variety of bright red cherrys which it not too overpowering but noted well. It has that very cherry/ fruity aroma when you first open the tin which was quite pleasant. And again it smoked identically to Midnight Gold.. I do prefer the black cherrys over maraschino but this still a good keeper in your regular rotation unless your not a cherry fan, then you might want to stay away from this blend.

I'm generally not a fan of Captain Black tobaccos. In the past I tried their cherry blend that comes in the pouch. One word describes it - nasty.
From time to time I like to smoke a good cherry blend, but haven't been able to find one. The description on the new higher quality Captain Black tobaccos in the tin was intriguing and I ordered a tin to try. The tobacco is rather course cut and has a fantastic wild cherry aroma in the tin. The problem with most cherry blends, whether bulk or tin, is that they smoke hot and bite. Not so with this one. It smokes cool and has no bite at all. What comes through is a pleasant mild tobacco taste with prominent cherry flavors in the background. Captain Black has hit this one out of the park. Highly recommended.
