Some great cigars have come out of the Tabacalera Las Lavas in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Owned by the Cuevas family which is four generations deep in the cigar business, they've been known for making cigars for brands like Sam Leccia, Gurkha, and Torano. Now they introduce cigars under their own name, and they're amazingly good. So let's welcome Casa Cuevas Maduro.
Maduro cigars don't have to be heavy, and that's certainly the case here. It features a naturally fermented San Andres maduro wrapper laid over a zesty Habano binder. At the core is a blend of outstanding Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Colombian long-fillers. The profile is highlighted by notes of coffee and cocoa, cedar, baking spices and a hint of citrus. If you want a pleasant maduro with lots of complexity, try Casa Cuevas Maduro.
