Cohiba Macassar Cigars
If I try to tell you all there is to know about Cohiba Macassar, it would read like a novel. but I'll give it a shot. So here it goes...
Everything about the look of this brand is stunning. The box is finished with a high-gloss lid made of Indonesian Macassar, a kind of ebony, which has a distinctive grain. One you open the lid, you see the gorgeous US Connecticut-grown Habano wrapper - a rare leaf that has a deep reddish-brown color and an oily sheen. Under the wrapper is a Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and long-fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The wrapper and fillers are treated to a four-year nap, while the binder gets an additional two years. For the last year of aging, all the tobaccos are stored in Dominican rum barrels which impart a bit of sweetness. The complex flavor profile is predominantly woody with hints of toast, nuts, dried fruit, and baking spices. The construction is spot-on, with a smooth, easy draw and a razor-sharp burn. While, for most of us, this isn't an everyday cigar, for those special occasions you can't do any better than Cohiba Macassar.
