Comoy's Cask 11

Comoy's Cask #11 is a hearty blend of Latakia with excellent Orientals and sweet Virginias. The Orientals are clearly present in this blend, bringing Cask #11 firmly into the "Balkan" range of flavors, without an overpowering amount of Latakia.

A smooth and relaxing blend that does not over power. Good flavor and a great price in the bulk category.

Great Smokey Blend
It almost smells like a BBQ smokehouse. It tastes wonderful. If you like heavier orientals, give it a try. The cut is great, thin ribbons.

Cask 11 Bulk
I really enjoy this tobacco. While it is quite dry and therefore can smoke hot it has all the elements of a great Latakia blend. Lights easily, smokes quickly but well.

Re-review of Cask No 11 - Awesome English!
I wanted to redeem myself for a comment I had made in my first review of Cask No 11... My earlier review had withheld points for tongue bite, but after smoking a TON of this stuff I realize that there really is NO tongue bite. It needs to be at the right moisture level, that's all. I dried it out a tad and it has been perfect ever since. I am still not a fan of that leathery tin note, but who cares - the creamy, rich flavor cannot be beat. A totally satisfying English experience. TRY IT.

Nice smoke
Comoy 11 smokes cool, burns well and is a satisfying smoke except it has a bite back on the tongue. I enjoyed what I had but would not buy it again.

Hold your nose and say "Mmmmmmmmm..."
This stuff stanks, but it tastes gooooood... Lights easily, stays lit. Smells like a chimney fire but tastes like barbecue. I had a bowl, said "Gross!", and then five minutes after the bowl was gone I needed another one - fuller this time. Instant addiction. I withhold half a star for ugly nose note and half a star for nasty tongue bite. Otherwise, it's delightfully wicked. TRY IT.

Nice mellow Balkan
Very nice smoke. Lit well with no relighting. Definitely recommend to anyone who likes a mellow Balkan.

A bit slow in shipping, but no real problem for me.

1st review.
Comoy's cask 11 is one of the best I have tried. I do like my English blends really strong, but this is a good mild all day smoke. {I sometimes will add a little oriental for a good punch.

Slightly Sweet and a little Smokey...Just What I Like...... Outstanding.
Got a sample of this in a pouch from a local retailer. The pouch note was a little spicy, and smokey, but the Latakia is not overpowering. It blends in well with the there tobaccos. I reminded me a lot of Mississippi River, with just a little more spice from the orientals. I would call this a Balkan, and one of the best I've ever had. The moisture content was perfect and it lit well with just one match. The smoke was smooth, creamy and medium body. The nicotine was also medium...not mild, but not too much for an easy all-day smoke. The sweetness, which is not over-powering, seems to come just from good Red Virginia, rather than from any casing. The spiciness from the Orientals comes through nicely, and o er-all this is an almost perfectly balanced blend, a little sweet, a little smokey, and a little spicy. One of my gripes about mot Latakia b;ends is that they come off tasting like something I scrapped from the bottom of my barbecue pit. This is the exception. The smokiness adds to the flavors instead of taking over, like a perfectly smoked chicken (I smoke a lot of meat....). I can't say that it is better than Mississippi River (which is the finest tobacco blend I know of, IMO), but in it's own way, it is every bit as good, just a little different....and definitely superior to both 965 and the Aperitif. It has much deeper and more complex nuances. It smoked all the way to the bottom to a fine grey ash, with no gurgling, and never even a threat of biting. I think this is a blend that every pipe smoker should try at least once. It will certainly be in permanent rotation from now on.

Love it
Smoked a nice bowl of this in an mm cob, with a scotch, while starting a new book. Stayed lit without any excessive puffing, nice, smokey, spicey taste, complex but not overly so. What struck me is when I lit up a similarly priced aromatic, (in a briar), it seemed dull, lacked flavor compaired to cask 11. Also gurgled, which i didn't get with cask 11. Great smoke left me yearning for more.

An English on the spicy side, but I was expecting that. Good burning, stays lit, even for this noob.
Nice and medium for an English blend. It reminds me of Dunhill EMP. Makes for a good afternoon smoke. Recommended!
