I’ll be honest, I was a little critical when I picked up a few oz of Autumn Evening. Why? Well, with all the positive reviews I was simply skeptical. However, C&D delivered an exceptional smoke that is highly recommended! Why did I wait so long?

A Sweet Dessert
The amount of depth and flavor that this blend brings is absolutely amazing. Notes of molasses, cocoa and creamy vanilla all interwoven. The description mentions maple but I felt it was more like a sweetened molasses that literally coats the inside of your cheeks for hours after finishing. So happy I tried it and will be keeping it in stock.

Good but too heavy
This has good flavor and aroma but seem to sit heavy in the chest. I wouldn't buy again as there are many others that smoke with less weight.

I just LIKE it.
OK, I'm not a sophisticated smoker. I've been occasionally smoking a pipe since the early 70's, but never stuck with it. I've tried a number of tobaccos, but my usual tobacco was Borkum Riff because it smelled good and was easily available. But after a few pipe fulls over a few days I'd get tired of it and quit for a year or two. I've tried a number of other tobaccos, some aromatic, some not. Which leads me up to Autumn Evening... I LOVE this stuff! It packs and smokes easily, it doesn't bite my tongue, and best of all, it has a WONDERFUL aftertaste that lasts for hours. Yeah, maybe I'm like a kid talking about Gummy Nerd Cluster candy to a French Gourmet, but I don't care. I've come to love sitting outside with a book, a little time, and a churchwarden full of Autumn Evening.

Smooth, pleasant aroma, and taste. My order is always completed on time and received on time. I have purchased this tobacco for the last year or two and always keep it on hand. One of my go to tobaccos.

A Tasteful Aro
This is one of only a handful or aros I periodically smoke. The topping is tasteful - not artificial-tasting, gooey crap. And it doesn't burn my pipe or bite me.

Not too shabby.
I've had both the bulk variety and the tinned of this blend. In my personal opinion I found the tinned version to have more sweetness and more all around maple flavor then the bulk blend. Both are good, but if your budget allows I'd go for the tinned. Just my 2 cents.

Don’t be scared of the maple!
I was a little concerned when I opened the tin, the maple was overwhelming. That was soon put to rest when I lit it up for the 1st time. Super mellow, just a wisp of maple. I’d have to imagine the room not was fantastic, I find it hard to tell when I’m alone though. Anyway, one of the more enjoyable smokes I can remember. Feels like a new go-to tobacco for me.

Absolutely Delightful Blend
I am a relatively new pipe smoker, who has been enjoying exploring many different tobacco flavors, discovering the joys of the different varieties and learning to discern Virginia's from Latakia's smoky notes. I've really enjoyed the oriental's spicy taste and I'm learning all about Parique. Like most, I choose to enter with the aromatic blends and Cornell and Diehl's Autumn Evening has emerged as my go to smoke. For me this is a wonderful blend with a complexity my newbie pipe palette finds supremely satisfying as my daily blend. I've purchased both an 8oz can and a 16oz bulk and the flavor is consistent between the blends. This is also a blend I'm going to cellar for down the road. I certainly see this vlend remaining in my life. I'd also like to thank the YouTube Pipe Community for all of their recommendations as I found my first forever blend.

Super Smooth and Just the Right Amount of Sweet Maple
I had a friend recommend this blend and was really happy with it as a light smoke and great room notes, although it is a big change from my normal selection and still wrapping my head around it a bit. Need a few more smokes but it is super smooth and bright with the maple aroma and a slight sweetness that makes it great for a morning or midafternoon smoke. I was a little worried with the strength of the aroma pre-light but the C&D people have it down just right.

Do Yourself a Favor and Try it
Delicious! First thing that hits you is the smell. Like diving nose first into a pool of maple syrup. This was made even better by the fact that my tin was aged almost a year before it even got to me (and since it was a big tin, the leaf at the bottom was compressed really nicely). Smoking this is like eating pancakes with butter and syrup, without all the calories. Seriously. I am not the type to pick out nuanced notes of (insert wood/nut/chocolate here)… this is a flavor BOMB. I know it’s called Autumn Evening, but to me it’s the perfect breakfast. No noticeable bite in my opinion. I highly recommend it

Nice all around smoke
Not bad at all. Won't knock your socks off, but I like it. Closer to a Carter Hall homage than a maple flavored smoke. Maybe a light molasses on wheat bread crust after taste. Pleasant. I like it, glad I bought it. Wife is a pro at room notes, and said it smelled nice without being obviously coated in some topping. She did not detect direct maple, but did get "hints of baking" type aromas. Just hints of something like a pound cake in the oven. Pleasant. All day caliber of smoke.

My wife's favorite
Easily one of thr favorites in our house. While i may be the pipe smoker, my wife is the one who puts up with the room note the most as a non-smoker. The flavor is quite mild, i get a somewhat nutty hint from it. The room note is where this blend shines like a lighthouse on a calm day at sea. The aroma this packs is by far one of the most pleasing aspects of the blend and i uave yet to find one that matches up to it. If you want to draw a crowd with what you smoke, this will definitely do that.

What a great blend
I'm an exclusive aromatic smoker and I've heard a lot about Autumn Evening. The minute I lit up, I knew this was special. In many blends you can neither taste nor smell the notes. Not the case here. The rich maple and vanilla note are wonderful. But what stands out to me is the smoothness. What a mellow, cool, smoke. Absolutely no bite. I found myself wanting a second bowl. I hope Cornell and Diehl never retires this one. I will never run out of this blend. I can't say enough great things about it. All the hype was absolutely correct.

Buttery Maple Stings the Nostrils
I bought the 1 oz bag of this just to try it. Opening the bag, a strong note of buttery maple stings the nostrils. Definitely not in a bad way. The taste is sweet, nutty, light taste of maple but not overpowering. It’s a very good smoke and I recommend it to rookie pipe smokers.

The feeling of fall, crisp leaves, Halloween, an approaching winter
This aromatic is probably one of the best examples that tastes like it smells. A rich maple syrup. Not the cheap sugary syrup, but authentic syrup from a tree. Gives you the feeling of its' namesake, a cool autumn evening. After another hectic day in the world, you can retreat to your den, patio, or firepit and let the stressors of the world melt away like butter on a stack of succulent pancakes- like the ones your mother used to make when it seemed that the world was a better place. Your faithful dog sits by your side and you watch the embers of your pipe dance about.

This is one of those rare aromatics that actually tastes the same as it smells.
The tobacco does smell delicious but I can't seem to pull out the Vanilla, Maple or other flavors. But it burns real good and smokes well. No bite and a comforting flavor. I get a lot of compliments when smoking this at my local pub. Maybe it will taste better if aging in a tin then purchasing it in bulk. I purchased 1 oz. a year ago to test it out. It was enjoyable but 1 oz. wasn't enough so re-purchased 2 ounces this time and it still tastes great. Doesn't taste the way it smells but does taste good. I use to be a diehard McClelland fan until they went out of business. I loved the Frog Morton line. I still have a few tins of Deep Hollow; unopened, dating from 2016. They should be excellent. So my new quest is to try every Cornell & Diehl blend that they make and choose two aromatics, two English and two Balkan Blends that interests me and then I can start buying in bulk and enjoy life again. But for Autumn Evening, so far it has been very pleasing to my tastes for a mellow aromatic blend.

Light on the Syrup.
Love this tobacco in the Fall. Honestly don't smoke it much more than that but I do love it. It is as described. Maple, vanilla and a little bit of caramel. it reminds me of pancakes with just a little bit of syrup but not drenched. It is a top tier aromatic. Only negative i ever get of it is that at times it can be a bit ashy. Highly recommend still.

Perfect for Beginners
I am new smoke. I heard about. I ordered it. It is the 4th tobacco I have tried. I now my #1 on my list. I have been trying OTC’s and lower cost flavored (wetter) samples but wow this stuff lit so well on the char light I never have to Light it again. Only tamp on occasion. I used a MM Gentlemen cob and it was best smoke yet. Burned slow, never went out, and all the way to bottom of bowl with that gentle maple flavor all the way. This tobacco now has me exited about pipe smoking.

Good Smoke and Great Note
Alright, to start it definitely has a good Room Note. It reminded me of pancakes with I was smoking this. Smoke it slow cause it can get bitey if it burns to hot. The flavor of maple is there and overall not a bad smoke. I would definitely order this blend every year around this time.

Flavor and Quality with pinache
I smoke mostly English…but this aromatic is top of the heap. It is so full, sweet and satisfying. It doesn’t bite and it satisfies right down to the bottom of the bowl. It starts off with heavy maple, an amazing aroma. Then the flavor burns of towards the last third and reveals the C&D’s trademark - truly great, expertly-blended tobacco.

Favorite fall blend
I wanted a nice aromatic blend for the fall. A year or so ago I had tried the bulk version and wasn’t impressed. This time I figured I would try the tinned version and yes, there is a difference in flavor. So far my favorite aro blend of the season.

Sweet surprise!
Surprising! Unlike other aromatics that "sorta" deliver flavor and aroma, this one's got it! I will devote one of my pipes to this one alone. Probably won't smoke EVERY day, but it's a great "special time" smoke.

Not bad, not bad at all
I was secretly hoping for a more "mapley" flavor and I was disappointed at first because it just wasn't as pronounced as I expected. By the time I finished the bowl, I decided I'm gonna have to order some more. Sweet enough for that craving, and left my nicotine junkie self satisfied. Smokes cool even if I push it. Doesn't have that "Hot air flavor" that aromatics do sometimes. Not a horrible investment at all. Probably the most satisfying aromatic that I've had all around.

What can I say? This is a perfect aromatic. The flavor is there but not overpowering and you can still taste the tobacco. Came in at a perfect moisture level.. That's usually not the case for most aros. Burned great with no bite and no goop at the bottom of the bowl..

Highly Recommended
I have been a pipe smoker off and on for half a century. I put my pipes away for nearly a decade. I had been smoking mostly non-aromatic tobaccos. I am re-discovering some I smoked when I first smoked a pipe and now this one. Usually an aromatic has a hint of flavor when opening a tin or pouch, but Autumn Evening let’s you know when opening the tin that it’s a real aromatic. The Maple flavor is evident. It does not hint! But smoking it was pure pleasure! I have had about ten bowls now and I can tell you it is one of the best flavorful aromatics out there! If you are looking for a true aromatic with a very pleasant room note and aren’t sure what to buy, I highly recommend you try this one! It is a great aromatic! Burns fairly cool and no bite! I highly recommend it!

It's okay.
I was honestly expecting more from this. The taste is pleasant but very thin. Reminds me of coffee and waffles while cramming for finals in college. The wife LOVES the room note and the beard note, so this is included in my rotation often. It's a good blend, tasty, but doesn't really satisfy.

Cornell & Diehl Autumn Evening
I've tried a number of flavored aromatics before (vanilla, cherry, Lane 1Q, Seven Seas) and have been underwhelmed. While I think it's because I REALLY like maple syrup that I find C&D Autumn so good, I give this my highest rating. Mixing a little of this in with Newminster #403 Superior Round Slices is, to me, heaven on earth.

This stuff surprised me. The
This stuff surprised me. The first time I tried it over 5 years ago I didn't enjoy it at all. Maybe I was expecting something different than what it actually was. Maybe it was the pipe I chose or the pace I smoked It or my palate blah blah blah. But then I thought Well if ALL that has to be inline to enjoy a decent bowl of baccy then it’s just too much bother. So there it sat—for a long time. A few years passed and after trying and tasting so many different blends, mostly VAs and VA-Pers, burley blends and other non-aero blends, reading reviews adding to my pipe collection etc., I came across one particular review by Tom/NWPipesmoker who just ever so subtly put a different twist on “how” to enjoy this particular blend, so I gave it another try. This time I was In the right “mindset” the right pipe the right time of day and open to the possibility of discovering something new. Eureka! It was an entirely new and different experience…better! And I was hooked. It is now a staple in my rotation and I so thoroughly enjoy this in the evening with a piping hot cup of freshly brewed coffee, no matter what time of the year it is. I hope you all have found the same surprising and enjoyable experience while revisiting “old” blends you thought you’d given up on long ago. Like most things, they’re usually worth a second chance. Enjoy, my friends!- TK

Stuntman broken review
Now, this is a wonderful aromatic that you can taste what others can enjoy in the room note. I highly recommend this tobacco, a perfect evening pipe even if the season... isn't Autumn.

Tasted like Cigarrettes
I am not sure if I got a bad batch or what. This aromatic was highly touted, so I thought I would give it a go. Tin smelled like fresh-baked pancakes, and it packed and lit well. It reminded me of smoking Camel Turkish delights when I bummed them off a friend in High School. The "aroma" was awful and pervasive throughout the smoke. It tasted and smelled like cigarettes with a hint of maple syrup. This topping on different tobacco would be incredible, but as it is I will not order again.

Very good smoke
First off the moisture content was perfect right out of the tin. There’s definitely a very sweet smell, but when smoking you can actually taste those Red Virginia’s. It’s not overwhelmingly sweet. This is surely becoming one of my favorite aromatics. Give it a try.

Very pleasant smoke
Lovely aromatic, I was apprehensive when I smelled the bag, but upon lighting I was pleasantly surprised because I could taste the tobacco and maple dancing together beautifully. I've read reviews saying this tobacco is sickly sweet and pure maple flavor, however that is not what my palate found at all. I even received praise on the room note from both my wife and my mother-in-law.

Nice, mostly maple
Tin note was mostly maple to me, the room note was a very nice and I can see where this blend gets it name. Taste wise I was not happy or sad, I can see me finishing the tin and possibly buying more later, but was underwhelmed by the flavor... Maybe its C&D or just me (am newer pipe smoker) but it seems that all the C&D blends I buy have great tin/room notes (even when I can't smell the advertised flavors) but in tasting, the flavors seem subdued or missing, but the tobacco flavor is present and pleasant, which I don't get with other brands (e.g. - Sutliff). This makes me sad as I really like buying tobaccos in tins vs bulk in a plastic bag for both convenience, display and storage.

Going 2 the Xtreme
If you like ULTRA sweet blends, this is perfect for you. I like sweet aromatics but this is way overboard. I felt like I was dumping syrup and caramel down my throat. I will take a tiny bit and add it to a stronger blend but that's about it.

Jury is still out....
I tried this tobacco for the first time this evening. I will admit that though I have been smoking a pipe for many years I have been very inconsistent with the hobby. Also, I have not developed the palette for tobacco that I would like in regards to identifying its make up. I will say everyone around the fire pit tonight loved the room note of Autumn Evening, as did I. I have read many reviews regarding it, which is why I tried it, but actually I was not overly impressed with it. I felt the flavor was pleasant but weak. Nothing really stood out to me. I have a question for each tobacco I try.... Is it "Jar Worthy"? Will it get a its own jar for my cabinet and get its custom label. Autumn Evening is undecided. I will give it couple of more bowls to decide.

Makes me nauseous and very light headed!
I am sure this is fine tobacco, but smoking it makes me nauseous and very light headed. There must be enough nicotine to trigger this. It smokes well and does have a strong heavy maple aroma. However, my low level nicotine intolerance doesn't allow me to smoke it. I will pass the tin on to those who are more nicotine tolerant.

Pleasant and pleasing.
Had read an article listing some of the best smelling aromatics, Autumn Evening was in the top 5 and it's easy to see why. A pleasant maple aroma and smooth taste makes this a delight to smoke. One of the few blends I can smoke to the bottom of the bowl.

Casual Smoker, Nice Find
New to pipe smoking, been on the hunt for a while for good tobacco, this is a keeper for me. My favorite pairing so far is a bowl of Autumn Evening and Burnt Honey Coffee (honey brought to 300° for 3 min mixed in your favorite coffee), probably my most relaxed smoke yet. No bite, the flavor comes through good, has a hint of the Tin Note in the flavor. I would recommend a deep bowl to get a longer smoke without hitting the ash taste level too soon.

Casual Smoker, Nice Find
Start off by saying I am a casual pipe smoker. I have been on the hunt for staple tobacco to put into my rotation, and this is it. This tobacco is smooth with no bite. Pleasant aroma, good Tin note, and tastes fine, some folks would say it tastes good, I will say there is nothing wrong with the taste, I smoke for the aroma, not the taste, a pleasant taste is a plus :). I would definitely recommend giving this a try.

No tongue bite at all. Very pleasant smoke. Very mild. My favorite aromatic.

Taste line the tin Note
As the info indicates, it smokes like it smells; sweet and maple-like. This tastes like a pecan praline pie to me. After smoking it 3-4 times fresh from the can I feel like it is pretty one-note. And that is probably just fine for most folks looking for a pleasant, yet intensely, flavored tobacco. Beautiful room note.

Great smoke for after work relaxation
C&Ds Autumn Evening has become one of my go to blends for after work during this cooler weather. The description was pretty dead on as far as flavor and aromatic notes, but after a few bowls I started to detect some chocolate flavoring. I didn’t think much of it and was pleasantly surprised by it and thought it may be from some ghosting in the pipe until my wife stepped outside and said that she liked the smell and that it smelled of chocolate. Needless to say I will be buying more of this blend. I don’t get any tongue bite and I tend to smoke at a faster pace. The humidity of it is spot on where it needs to be. It might feel a little dry, but it smokes very cool and hardly any need for a pipe cleaner. Overall an excellent product!

Better Sip this One
I’m not a huge aromatic fan but wanted to find a blend when smoking around other non smokers. Tin note is fantastic like a stack of pancakes. I did get hints of maple, but mostly noticed how sweet this blend tastes. I smoked it in a cob with a filter and man, did I have to sip it to avoid tongue bite. Retro hale tended to burn my nose. Room note is great. It’s not too bad if you sip this one, or you’ll potentially get bitten. I won’t buy again when I run out.

A New Favorite - C&D Autumn Evening
My first try with Cornell & Diehl tobaccos, and it was a home run! Don't know why after 47 years of pipesmoking, and even met Craig Tarler in-person (nice guy! RIP)... don't know why it took me so long to get here, but darn glad I finally tried some. C&D has created a masterpiece with this Autumn Evening blend. A masterful melding of hearty Red Virginia with sweet Maple. The tin aroma is overwhelmingly delicious; it begs to be lit and puffed. And it delivers that promise. It truly does taste like it smells. You taste the tobacco, and you equally taste the flavoring; and the excellent flavor lasts all the way through, down to the last puff. Equally delightful in that it smokes dryly, without gurgle or goo. It burns down to fine powdery ash, virtually without dottle. It has a strong nicotine presence, but in a good way; it adds to the pleasure of the smoke without being overpowering. I had a pretty good hunch I was going to like this blend, but didn't quite suspect just how much. A couple weeks later, I now find I prefer smoking this over my other faves and reach directly for it. One suggestion I'd recommend: Pack it fairly loosely. Stays lit better that way and your smoking pleasure will benefit from that. This is an Aromatic that stands well above many others in its heartiness and fine character.

People will love sitting next to you
Excellent, a bit more light than I expected, but it was delightfully aromatic. Very obvious notes of maple, but I couldn’t get many of the other scents in its description. I probably don’t have the palate for that kind of detection, but it was very delightful nonetheless. One of the drawbacks with smoking is some people do not like the smell that remains (and even I get sick of it) but I can assure you, even the most sensitive noses will be happy to smell your beard after finishing a pipe of this stuff. Probably one of my new favorites

Not sure if it's an issue buying loose vs tin, but the c&d's I got had barely any scent or taste to them. Still this one had a good overall tobacco flavor with a VERY light maple note to it. I'd try it in the tin next time if I do end up ordering again.

Best Aromatic I've tried
Aromatics are not my favorite, but this blend provides so much more than a typical mushy gooey Sutliff blend. Maple syrup and pancakes come from the tin, but I was surprised to find the tobacco moist--not damp, 15 minutes out of the tin gave it the perfect dryness to smoke. The smoke is rich and does provide the flavors from the tin note, but something more is there as well. This blend does not require too much thought and will not bite you if you're not paying attention. Bonus: Every person I smoked this around complimented it's smell and was curious about the pipe. Room Note = awesome.

Got in a shipment yesterday. I felt like a kid at Christmas. I never would have dreamed that one day I would be smoking a pipe. Had to try Autumn Evening first, in a cob, no less. Pleasant and relaxing with no bite. Stayed lit (yay) and I liked it so much, I brought some with me to work today.

Does as advertised!
My disclaimer; I don't get into the science of how it's made, cut, etc. I fill a pipe, fire it up and "puff" away! I got to wandering @ the "Pipes and Cigars" catalog a while back and saw Autumn Evening. Later, I thought I'll try some "Aromatic" bends to see, (something different). I ordered a tin of Autumn along with 2 other brands. Took 3 pipes and "Freshen them up", sanded char, soaked bowl in Gin overnight, clean the stems, so I got rid of any "ghosts in the machine". Got Autumn, the tobacco in the tin smells AWESOME Filled a clean pipe ,fired up a bowl. My wife was surprised that the room note was, "Maple", (Add said pancakes, but......) The first thing I noticed was the nicotine hit! I got a buzz. (I usually smoke 1-Q and Trout Stream). I had a hard time keep Autumn lite, (course I usually have a hard time keep my bowls lite for some reason? Go through spurts where it seems all I do is relight??!! I'm a "hard pipe smoker", I go into the shop, start working and the pipe is like the, "Little Engine that Could"! Over all, I like it. Most likely get another tin when this is empty. I don't think I could smoke it all day, every day, but for a change up, or if I'm sitting with my wife, nice change up! Joe Always take anything I saw with a can of beer er 2!

One of my favorites.
Great smell from the tin and a good room note. Also great artwork on the tin which may sound trivial, but in my opinion adds to the whole experience. On to the smoking - smokes fairly easily if allowed to dry out a little bit and the taste is very pleasant and similar to the smell. Good amount of nicotine too, perhaps from the red virginia. My only complaint, and reason for withholding the fifth star, is that it can be a bit harsh when trying to inhale a small bit as I like to do every minute or so. If you don't like inhaling some, then the harshness won't be an issue.

A Good Aromatic
I tried this based on some reviews I read and also to see if anything could remind me of the old maple flavored blend I smoked in the 70’s. When I was a young man, I loved an old rum and maple flavored tobacco. I smoked pounds of the stuff. Then I became a “sophisticated” pipe smoker and never looked back. So in my quest to simplify and regain some of my enthusiasm for a less competitive life, I thought I would give this a try. I confess I like stronger Virginia’s and always end up squinting at aromatics, like they are mean cats I want to pet but know I’m gonna get bit. Yep, they usually bite no matter how cute they are. But this tobacco is good. It is a sweet aromatic. But it’s a warm nostalgic sweet aromatic. Very tolerable, in fact, pretty good. Not cloying, doesn’t bite, not too sweet. You can taste the tobacco, and it’s dry and I don’t worry about needing to clean out gunk cuz there isn’t any. It did remind me of the old days. So much that I will keep a tin open and dip into it from time to time. A good desert for occasional use.

Very satisfying
I have recently switched from cigarette smoking to pipe smoking and been advised to smoke aromatic as usual. Bought myself bunch of aromatics and eventually realized I am more of a non-aromatic person. But this one is different to me. I get full satisfaction even with all the sweetness and rich maple flavor. It's smooth, and feels somewhat strong. A great combination I wouldn't even imagine is possible. It's definitely going to take place among my favorite aromatic choices along with Scottish Mixture. Great stuff. Just remember that it's sweet. Wanna take a break from all the English and non-aromatics? Then go for it!

One of the best!
This is by far the best aromatic tobacco I have experienced and also a great all around tobacco. You can enjoy the flavor as well as the tobacco. Can get a little harsh or ashy if it's fresh and pushed too hard. It also ages well and keep it's aromatic flavor.

Great aroma, perfect balance of smokey and sweet
First, this tobacco was ready to smoke right out of the tin. There was no need to let it dry before lighting up. Second, the cut is consistent and fine to make it easily packable. Third, the topping of this is pleasant and perfectly balanced with the tobacco flavors. The maple flavor is wonderful.

Am I crazy, or does it have a celery taste to it????
I got myself 2 ounces of this stuff at my local tinderbox cuz I like aromatics and like maple flavored aromatics and was really surprised at how it tasted. It wasn’t bad, and it wasn’t DELICIOUS like some other tobaccos are to me. What it DID have was this flavor of....(call me crazy), this flavor of like...... celery! I don’t know how else to describe it. Its just how my brain registered that flavor. It smokes very very well and is pretty dry (which I love! IMO, the dryer the better). If there’s ANYONE out there that knows what I’m talking about with the “celery” flavor, please let me know where it comes from so I can try to avoid that type of tobacco. They say it’s red Virginia leaf so I’m guessing it’s the red Virginia that gives it that celery taste. It didn’t seem like the celery taste was coming from a casing, it must be that red Virginia. Its not bad at all, just not my thing

Good for Morning too!
I admit to having purchased this from another supplier. I also admit that with the demise of Dunhill brands and the husbanding of my last cherished Ball jar of carefully cellared Early Morning Pipe, this has become my breakfast smoke on most weekdays. It is nowhere near the same note and flavor as EMP but that difference does not bely the excellent flavor of Maple and delicate sweetness that goes with a good cup of coffee. I heartily endorse this! Also good for an evening smoke. Have not, in truth, tried during the day.

It is nothing like the description unless you use your imagination.
I had high hopes for this tobacco after reading reviews and hearing everyone's opinion. It has not stood up to the hype. All I can say about this tobacco is that it tastes like high class cigarettes with enough nic in it to knock a horse dead. Every time I have smoked a pipe of it the back of my throat burns like fire and my stomach starts doing cartwheels, even though I've had much stronger nic in latakia mixes than this. I've tried retro-hailing, which should not be a requirement to get the full flavor out of a mix IMO, and that just made it worse. I've tried different pipes and different amounts, still nothing. If you're looking for a pure nic hit that is so raw it will make your toes turn blue, this is it. I cannot suggest this to anymore other than hardcore cigarette smokers who only want the barest hint of flavors suggested in the description for this blend. There are better Virginia Cavendish blends out there. After finishing this 2 oz sample I'm done and won't be coming back.

My current go to aro.
This blend smells fantastic, and smokes even better. The maple is very present, but more like real maple syrup. You can actually taste and enjoy the tobacco, unlike other aros that are just transportation for the sauce. I find this to always be a satisfying blend and smoke when I want an aro.

Second purchase
Well, this is my second purchase of Autumn Evening. The first time I thought it would be a nice smoke for the fall; it was. This time I bought it to bring in spring; it did not disappoint. The aroma and flavor is excellent, any time of the year. If you enjoy high quality aromatics, this one won't disappoint.

C&D produced a quality aromatic with Autumn Evening
As I understand, this is a blend that takes significant time for them to make. As others have stated, this can be wet out of the tin and can stand drying out. However, if you choose to smoke it right away, do yourself a favor and pack it just a little more loose than you would normally. If you tend to freight train your smoke, this blend will run hot and bite. If you sip it right on the edge of going out, the flavor pallet is amazing. I can taste the sweetness of the red Virginia Cavendish on the initial draw, then the maple blossoms. Not a sticky maple syrup, but a nice buttery maple that leaves a wonderful room note. All that said, I don't know if maple is what I could smoke all day, but this blend certainly makes for a magnificent digestif.

Decent aromatic.
It' good and it's strong. Definitely felt lightheaded from the "vitamin N" . There was no tongue bite whatsoever. I used a briar. Not an everyday smoker. The maple is there when you open the can and even in the flavor if you "sip it". The beard note as I call it is making me crave French toast with maple syrup and maple smoked bacon. Not bad, the 8 oz tin will probably last me a long while as I prefer less of a nicotine buzz.

I wish I had a better Autumn Evening
I wish I could say my experience with this blend was pleasant, but it was not. The Autumn Evening blend sounded so good to me that I wanted to try it based on the reviews, but when I received it after it was back ordered for so long I couldn't wait to try out. I open the box took out the blend it smelled great but it looked old (gray Looking) not like the pictures shows and was in a million little pieces like it had been the last of the barrel. Then when I smelled it in the plastic bag it didn't quite smell like it did when I first opened the box. I give it a chance and smoked it and it was the worst tobacco I've ever smoked. I feel like I wasted my money. I dought it will ever try it again, but I could have gotten old left over tobacco which tells me something about the quality control. Which is disappointing because I really Like Pipes & Cigars.

Losing Appeal Over Time
Previous C&D product purchases were tastier and had stronger room notes than recent orders. Wondering if the casings have been decreased on some of C&D's blends. Many aren't what they used to be.

Soapy taste?
I gave it a 3 stars because at the beginning the tobacco was on point. A yummy taste of cinnamon and maple on the exhale. This was very pleasing at first, but with weeks going by and storage in my humid garage here in FL, I feel the taste has changed to a soapy not very pleasing taste. I will research if humidity has an effect on tobacco. Not sure. however, it was stored in a canning jar.

Mehhh... After 3-4 months in cellar it did same thing as when I first tried this blend. It has amazing aroma in opening jar, and loads very easy. (a fairly small cut, you could probably roll this in papers and smoke) It tastes really good right after lighting and progresses like it will be a home run. Then, about 5+ minutes into bowl it begins to turn a bit bitter. I think it may be a build up of a baccy aftertaste. It's not just a burn from smoking too hard, but an unpleasant taste. Been a very long time, but reminded me of cigarette after taste. It's good enough that I'll keep it around and smoke from time to time, but I won't purchase anymore. (I may use an ounce to try a frankenblend?)

Not yet.
Based on the reviews, I'm wondering if I got a bad batch. Aroma in the tin is delicious. Warm, rich, maple tones with maybe a splash of chocolate. Not sure how this is classified as a "coarse cut." It was cut so fine, it was reminiscent of opening a can of Copenhagen. The tobacco felt great between the fingers--light and silky. That's where the good ends. Stuff lights easy. Burns like paper in a brush fire. A bowl lasted like 10-15 minutes. Taste is sort of like maple at first, but then burns so fast, it tasted like a generic cigarette. Room notes are ok. Not sure if there's better batches out there, but based on this one, I was very disappointed.

I was looking forward to this one, it set me up for disappointment.

Delivers on flavor
Full disclosure; I am not a regular aromatic smoker. The description intrigued me, a “rare aromatic that actually tastes the same as it smells.” They are right. When first lit I immediately thought, this is why I don’t smoke aromatics but if you give it time and sip, I assure you that it lives up to the description. It does have an aftertaste, not sure if chemical is fair but the smoke is on the acrid side when exhaled even gently thru your nose. Not tongue bite but something is going on. After finishing the bowl 10 minutes ago, I still get the sensation of maple. I’m surprised it’s so tangy but that may just be the combustion of the additions. It’s not going to make me give up my full English or Navy styles but it delivers on its promise. I was leaning towards 3 stars but since I’m not a strict aromatic guy, I think 4 is honest. I will smoke this again albeit occasionally. Smoked in a fresh cob, I won’t do aromatics in any briar. Btw, I’m not a complete aromatic snob, Vermont Meat Candy (yes!), EITC Officer’s Club & Molto Dolce are three aromatics that are in my 30+ favorites rotation, usually enjoyed in the cooler months. Merry Christmas to all!

a new favorite
This is a blend I was hoping I would like, and it exceeded my expectations! A nice sweet maple flavor that holds and even smooths out around mid pipe. The room note is pleasant, if a bit overpowering at times. I will keep this one in my rotation, c and d rarely let's me down

Lovely tobacco
I have smoked maple blend tobaccos all my life but have never found one that wouldn't burn my mouth up until now. Autumn Blend has a wonderful aroma and taste. Will definitely buy again and again.

A bit too strong for my taste.
I didn't care for this tobacco at all. I didn't taste any maple whatsoever, just a very strong generic tobacco flavor. I usually try to give a tobacco two or three bowls before I make my final judgement, but I only made it through half a bowl of this blend before I starting feeling sick from the high nicotine content. Those who are more into strong pipe tobaccos and cigars may find this satisfactory, but as far as autumn type blends go I enjoyed Tsuge's Mystery of Autumn much more.

Maple
One of the most acheivable aromatic flavorings is maple, however many blenders rely on poor base tobacco and alot of casing which result in a poor blen that bite the tongue. I looked into almost all maple blends out there but this one is the only one i could taste real maple in. Given fact the flavor will be gone about 2/3 to 1/2 down but you will be left with quality red virginias. Everybody liked the room note more than any other tobacco however it will be kinda stale if smoked alot in an enclosed space, but then again isnt all tobaccos do that? You owe it to your self if you like aromatics to try this one. Just sip slowly so you dont burn your tongue or worse not taste the maple.

Autumn Evening
Wow. I know this one has been around for a while but it's the first time I've tried it. I now have a new tobacco in my favorites rotation. This is fantastic!

As Legendary As "The Great Pumpkin". A Fantastic Blend!
Gives the room a maple syrup note but to the smoker, you smell pumpkin spice notes. This is not an everyday blend but when you take a special moment alone for a smoking experience you'll long remember, this is a winner!

Love this blend, mellow and relaxing.

Very good.
I'm not a big fan of aromatics. Except for this one. Liked it so well, I got it twice.

Not For Me
I was really looking foward to this blend after reading so many fantastic reviews of it, but for me the excellent tin note did not transform to the smoke. I love maple but found this blend to burn hot and somewhat bitter. Maybe its just me.......

Good Aromatic
I really like this one and suspect I will be buying more. Good taste, and good room note. I know this because my wife just asked what I was smoking and she told me well this one does not smell like you are burning a stump in here. That is as good a recommendation as you are going to get.

Can this be beaten?
This was my first non-OTC aromatic and it is amazing! The taste and room note are very close, but as the person smoking it, I appreciate that the taste isn't as sweet as it smells. I tried other high quality aros after this, and when I came back to it my impression didn't change at all. The tin note is very powerful, like caramel ice cream dip. But the smoke is perfectly balanced. Take your time and you will be rewarded. This will be my mainstay aromatic for a long long time.

Very smooth, awesome flavor.

Not bad
I was looking for something comparable to 1-Q but doesn't quite cut it for me. As an aromatic it's pretty good but that's about where it ends with me

Smells and smokes great, wish it had stronger taste!
Smells just like pancake syrup, both in the tin and as you smoke. Taste isn't very strong, but I'm new at this and I guess I'm still getting used to finding the taste in tobaccos as I smoke. I like that it's virginia based. Isn't too wet, although whenever I buy aromatics I leave the lid off for a half hour to an hour to let them dry out a bit, don't know if this is a great practice but I'm pretty sure I saw it somewhere and it seems to be working for me.

Love it
Now that's a real maple tobacco. I will definately reorder. Pouch aroma and room aroma very close. I think I've tried every maple blend there is and this at the top of list.

Autumn Evening
simply delicious! Smokes cool and tastes sweet. It has more of a sugar maple flavor in the room note. It's my first time trying Autumn Evening, and I'm sure I'll continue with this blend. I've already gotten a lot of compliments from others around me about the sweet room note.

Good maple blend.
Typically I smoke English blends, but every now and then I break into an aromatic or two. My normal choice for aro would be McClelland Townsman Cavendish Blue(Maple), but after reading reviews on C&D Autumn Evening, I figured I'd give this a shot. When I smoke aromatics, I prefer lightly cased and sweet. Similar to the TCB this is lightly cased, but the maple sure comes through well. The tin note is just outstanding. As soon as I popped the tin, AE was ready to go. Not to wet, and not too dry, just right on the money. I found nothing bad to say about this blend, and even better it comes in bulk to save a few pennies. If you're an aromatic smoker, or like me, like it here and there, and like maple, give this a go, you won't be disappointed.

More robust than you'd expect from an Aro
This is a great tobacco. Most of my aromatics are a little more wet. This is a dryer smoke--one of the few that I can smoke all the way to the bottom of the bowl without even needing to knock out the ash--not that I mind knocking out some ash. I will say that it is a harsher and more robust tobacco than one might expect of an aromatic--I don't inhale, but this made me cough just when it hit the back of my throat the first time I tried it. Also, the nicotine content is actually a little higher than one might expect.

Very pleasant smoke. The hint of maple is nice.

A great intermediate aromatic
This is a great blend for those who want to like aromatics but find that most of them contain a weak underlying tobacco with all the focus on the flavoring. Autumn Evening's base of Red Virginia's should please the discriminating non aromatic smoker while at the same time giving a smooth flavorful straight up maple taste and smell . Be warned though, this blend might be a bit strong for some of those who are used to milder tobaccos.

Nice Natural Tasting Sweetness
I bought this late last winter and I'm more a Burley man than Virginia but finally decided to open it. The tin note is nice and smells like sweet maple. It has a pleasant room note that has a fresh maple smell too. I really like this one. It is not overly flavored but I can taste the maple. There is a very pleasant natural sweetness that I just love. I will have to buy this one again!

This has become a regular blend for me and have even given samples to friends who enjoyed it as well. Will definitely be ordering more as it has found it's way into my top ten tobaccos.

Autumn Evening
This is my favorite aromatic. I purchase this every Autumn. The smell out of the tin, strong maple, reminds me of being around my family when I was young. It reminds me of a cold autumn day, contemplating the stars and moon. It brings me in line with smelling the leaves in the ground and the distant smell of wood burning from chimneys. This is more than a tobacco for me and in fact all my tobaccos bring specific memories to mind. I would recommend this to anyone interested in an aromatic which tastes as great as it smells to everyone else. Not too sweet and refreshingly creamy. Pipes and Cigars have also done a fantastic job on their website in my opinion. I've had great experiences and it seems their customer service end is tight. 5 stars. Don't even have to think about it. It just feels right.

Outstanding product! This tobacco has great room note, so much so that my wife loved the aroma and decided to start smoking this tobacco. So we got her a pipe that she likes. Also the bag note was great. This tobacco arrived in very fresh condition and shipping was fast.

Not buying the hype...
I am not buying into the hype on this one. Don't get me wrong, it is well constructed, smokes nice and the pouch note and room note were exceptional. One of the few tobacco's that had the right moisture level when I received it. But the taste was a bit of a let down - "Tastes the same as it smells" is the promise - I just didn't pick that up. A good tobacco - just not what I was expecting.

Customer Testimonials
Mine was a little dry out of the bag bought in bulk. Good quality leaf but has a buttery maple casing that sticks to everything, clothes, hands and pipe interiors. I smoke this in its own dedicated cob with a few Nording Keystones in the bottom of the pipe as a goop absorber. This is an above average aromatic sweet tasting tobacco.
MY of Westfield Center, OH
I was very excited to smoke this blend. The tin note was very strong and very maple syrupy. I asked a few friends to smell and they commented "smells like breakfast!" In the bowl, it pleased the nose just as much. However, don't expect this blend to have a strong maple flavor - it was pretty light compared to the smell. It also left a bad aftertaste (chemically, ashy, bitter) in my mouth which wasn't pleasant. Overall not too bad, worth a try, but I'm probably not purchasing it again!
JJ of Silverdale, WA
Despite the positive reviews, sadly I was a bit disappointed with this one. Maybe it has to dry out a bit or something, but honestly, though it initially tasted like a pretty good vanilla yogurt, it sort of turned into a bitter, ashy flavor about a third down the bowl. I'll give a couple more goes, but until then my opinion will stand.
BC of Monument, CO
C&D's Autumn Evening was surprising to me in that the maple topping and the aromatic-ness of the tobacco was not that overwhelming. It was VERY subtle. The natural flavor of the tobacco came through well. This tobacco is perfect for this Fall/Winter season. A great smoke that even non-aro smokers would like!

Love this blend! The flavor was there for me and I truly enjoyed it. I highly recommend this one if you like aromatics.
BB of Onalaska, WI
I was referred to this tobacco by Russ himself when I inquired about a tobacco with a good room note. I was not disappointed when I opened the bag and smelled the maple right away. I smoked this in my Peterson that I just cleaned two days prior with Jack Daniels whiskey and the flavor was amazing. Very maple with a room note of maple syrup that left my fiance saying "That smells really good." I will be coming back for more of this.
JC of Saint Amant, LA
If you are after a maple flavored tobacco, then this is it. i dont know how many people find it bland or taste bad (to each his own) but i tried all what the market have to offer in regard to maple excluding maple town cavendish by mccleland and pipe work and wilky maple? and i can safely say this is the most prominent. the virginia quality is good as well but is mainly masked by casing. get some and get pancakyy about it!
