If you enjoy Cornell & Diehl's Interlude, then you'll wan to try its lighter, sweeter cousin, Manhattan Afternoon. Like Interlude, this is an all-Virginia flake, but instead of using the toasty red Virginia, this flake is all sweet, bright Virginia. The same honey note from Interlude is used, and when pressed, the honey flavor is deeply embedded into the leaf. The tobacco is then sliced into attractive, golden brown flakes so you can prepare them any way you'd like. The result is a grassy, hay-like flavor with a mellow, round sweetness on the finish.

Really 3 3/4
Definitely worth a try, not my favorite Va flake, but a good overall smoke.

Consider this...
Cutting to the chase: I purchased a second tin and will continue to keep some on hand. More in depth: A rather golden flake with excellent texture which bears a sweet newmown-hay fragrance. A very relaxing effect at the outset of the filling ritual and at the outset of a day indoors or out. I've packed it both by folding and rubbing out. There's a bit of residual moisture, so the prep can make a difference in burning. This is the perfect contrast if you generally smoke English blends as do I, and also an excellent relief from Aromatics. (The most I'll go there is Davidoff Danish.) The name is something of a misnomer. I'd call it Magnolia Morning! Either way, it's a lovely and very 'Early American Virginia Planter' experience. FYI, I'm quite stingy with five stars, so read my four as many folks' five.

Afternoon smoke
Its very good out of the tin, I hope it will be even better with some age on it? Does need some drying before you pack a bowl and burns good with minimal relights

Kudos to Sot-Weed Factors Cornell & Diehl, with apologies to Ebenezer Cooke and John Barth
The freshly opened tin offered a beautifully made product. Optimum texture and moisture. Folded a flake without rubbing out. Noted a customary initial resistance to igniting, but once lit, she behaved perfectly. A rich, consistent, slow burning experience, displaying foundational strength, yet free of any unpleasant metallic bite. Produces a natural, lush Virginia tobacco aroma. A delicious smoke and seemingly a well-kept secret. With but one tin, "Manhattan Afternoon" has moved into this writer's inner circle.
