Cornell & Diehl Mississippi Mud

If unique is what you seek, look no further than Cornell & Diehl Mississippi Mud. This all-dark blend is certainly a departure from the norm by combining toasted black Cavendish with smoky Cyprian Latakia and zesty Perique. The result is a sweet and smoky blend with a round, mellow sweetness. Hard to classify, C&D's Mississippi Mud is a cool, very different blend that's great for a change of pace, but can also be an all-day smoke.

Very strong smoke
What an incredible smoke. Extremely unique scent and flavor. If you want something that’ll knock you on your ass look no further.

I love this heavy Latakia
I love this heavy Latakia blend. It smells great…like a clean campfire. And the smoke is high volume and filled with good flavor.

Muddy Mississippi
Everyone has their favorites and I like Mississippi Mud very much. Strong. Good taste.

As perfect as it gets
This is a close to a perfect smoke as I believe exists. A strong and slightly offensive smell from the tin initially, which I've come to view as a good thing. I opened it and let it breath overnight with the plastic lid on and the moisture was perfect for me. The flavors are perfectly balanced when smoked. The spice and flavor of the perique and smokiness of the latakia become harmonious and mellow with the Cavendish. I absolutely love this blend, it's an all day smoke in my book.

I don’t know what I’m talking about. If you’re still reading: nice smoke with sweetness early so much I smoked it down into the bowl of my new burl and the smelled too burnt

Dark, smoky bowl full of taste. I like dark tobaccos that smoke easily with no fuss or muss. This one's a keeper, kept foremost on my shelf right alongside C&D's Black Duck.

Wonderful smoke for a Memphis/Arkansas boy! Full, fragrant and delicious!

Very good tobacco!
The smell out of the can reminds me of cow manure, but it smokes and tastes great!

Thanks P&C
I smoke my stuff ground up with CBD flower. Miss. Mud made a nice mellow smoke; not quick, hot, and sharp like cheaper menthols. I’ll be sure to get more...

Top 3
Just getting started with a pipe, so I'm not going to leave a review that sounds like I know what I'm talking about. Out of 12 different tobacco blends I've tried, this is in the top 3.

Better than some
May be it's just me. It's a "Ho-hum" smoke. I use it for a back up when the 201 Cavendish is not available.

Good Alternative
Earthy, slightly sweet, smooth mouth feel, smoky Latakia forward notes. Not as sweet, fruity or spicy as Plum Pudding. I would say it's stronger than Plum Pudding, has a more rich, thick pure tobacco flavor. Mud would satisfy a cigar smoker. I haven't noticed any tongue bite.

Good stuff
Cigar smoker starting pipe: Out of the variety of tobacco's I bought I went through this the quickest. Heavy and flavorful, not quite like a cigar of course but this is the only blend out of 8 tins that I would buy again.

Mississippi Mud
Closest thing I have found to Frog Morton so far.

I LOVE IT
Cornell & Diehl Mississippi Mud in a favorite for me. Anything from them that is big and heavy and fully present is, too.

Wow
I love this tobacco. I actually was blending my own and decided as a bit of a joke to make an all black blend and it was amazing. It turns out Cornell and diehl makes this Mississippi mud and it's cheaper than blending it myself. Such a good smoke and flavor/smell. Definitely recommend.

Not Terrible but....
Not my favorite, but not terrible. For me, Missippippi Mud is an "every now and then" type of smoke. Not something I would want to smoke on a daily basis. By all means give it a try, I just wasn't that impressed myself. Like I said, not my favorite, but not terrible.

Great late nite smoke in my peterson p-lip and a pint of Angry Orchard green apple! Very tasty and compliments beverages nicely.

MUD is HEAVEN
I reordered this Cornell & Diehl Mississippi Mud blend. I am glad i found it. I like the way the PERIQUE {and Latakia} works in this blend. The smoke is thick like muddy water, and chewy. too. [I had hoped their Bow-Legged Bear would satisfy, too, but it did not.]

I just ordered 2 more 8 OZ TINS! I hope Cornell and Diehl don't stop making this stuff!

This is really good! The first time I smoked it, I didn't like it or the way it looked . Two days later, I gave it another try. It was somewhat better tasting, the more I smoked it the better it got. I'm really glad I decided to give it another try. Turns out it has a really good flavor, not too hot! No bite. Now I smoke it the first thing every morning with my coffee.

I had been smoking Mississippi River for a while and thought I would dive a little deeper and try "The Mud". I was glad I did! Mississippi (gotta count those esses) Mud is a mild English blend that's never short on flavor and I don't think I could make it bite if I wanted to. I only have time for about 10 bowls a month and MM has made up six of the last 10. I keep thinking I should be smoking something else in my rotation but so far I haven't tired of this one. I like the sweet, velvety, slightly spicey-smoked flavor and the aftertaste is almost as pleasant as the smoke itself. I highly recommend Mississippi Mud, especially for someone wanting to break into the English realm.

I am partial to English tobacco, and while reading about different English blends I came across Mississippi Mud. When I ordered the blend it was back ordered but after patiently waiting it arrived. I lit a bowl and even before the bowl was half way gone, my wife was ordering 8 ounces. This is definitely a keeper, and will be in the cabinet from now on. Prior to finding MM I was partial to Philosopher and Proper English... I have ordered the last of those. MM has taken the top spot along with Yule Log and Drew Estates Meat Pie. If you like bold English, you need to order MM.
