Cornell & Diehl Old Grove

Old Grove is a recent entry into Cornell & Diehl's Cellar Series, intended to be best with age. This ribbon-cut blend of red and bright Virginias, dark Burley, Katerini, black Cavendish and Perique has been sweetened with a unique pomegranate casing. The flavor is rich, and this sturdy tobacco will continue to improve, even after a decade of age.

Very satisfying smoke

Very nice smoke for VaPer lovers
This is a very nice blend and complex with the sweet Virginias, nice amount of Perique and very subtle fruit notes. I'm looking forward to trying a nice medium roast coffee. I've already tested that it goes nice with a good bourbon :-). It's very nice fresh but this would be a great tobacco with a few years on it.

Incredible now
So, I purchased two tins of this, one to put away for ten years and one to smoke now. All I can say is it will be a long ten year wait. This tobacco is incredible now, which will make the wait that much harder. I can only imagine what age will do for this blend. The tobacco appears to be mainly made up of Virginia's and is of a good quality and cut. This makes for easy loading and the tobacco takes a light well. As of now, the fresh tin of tobacco has a sweet red wine smell to it, lightly fruity, grassy, or figgy. The taste is slightly sweet with hints of fruit, again the fig note from the Virginia really shines through here. Nicotine levels were adequate ad I did not feel the need to smoke another bowl right away after finishing the first one. Overall, I am very satisfied with this blend and look forward to sampling it later on down the road.

Something new and special...
This tobacco is right up there with Oak Alley. The topping on this blend harmonizes with the tobaccos. I love that the tobaccos are in the forefront, while the topping adds a depth of natural, subtle sweetness. This blend breaks away from the stereotypical, over the top, candy flavored tobaccos. It is something quite special...Worth smoking now, and cellaring for the future. I have my share of tins squirreled away... Can't wait to see how they mature with age.
