Cornell & Diehl Poplar Camp No. 458 Sale

Cornell & Diehl Poplar Camp is a great example of the Virginia/Perique genre. Bright and red Virginias have been toasted to develop more depth and a more caramelized type of sweetness, some unflavored black Cavendish brings a mellow quality and the Perique brings some zip to the proceedings. C&D's Poplar Camp is a superb choice for VaPer lovers who like some mellow sweetness.

Another Good One
This is another good blend with all the normal attributes you expect from C&D. The problem is there are so many good blends that it is very hard to rate one over another. I have as of late smoked Habana Daydreams but ran out so I switched to this and in no way suffered. It lights and burns well with a full and good taste w/o leaving a mess in your pipe or nasty aftertaste.

Great smoke
Great taste, nice room note, frankly I retrohale about half the bowl... Getting more...

Balanced and Sweet
Great tobacco with a genuine sweet quality that comes from the leaf, not from toppings. The virginia is quality stuff, the natural cavendish just right, and the perique give it a nice rounded boost. I usually smoke Burleys and love OJK, but I've been smoking this almost as frequently and love the room note.

Poplar Camp No. 458 - A New VA/Per Favorite
Poplar Camp No. 458 is another one of C&D's more 'Rustic' blends. The name is quite appropriate, I think. When I smoke this new blend I can imagine loggers in a mountain logging camp smoking this. It came quite dry like others in what I call C&D's "Rustic Series", just like Yorktown. Lights easily with one match. Smoked down fast but not hot and no tongue bite for me. I put it in a jar and sprayed a few squirts of distilled water in it and shook it up good and let sit for a day. This really helped rehydrate and slow down the burn rate. The red Virginias give it a mellow dry taste with just the right amount of Perique added for a spicy kick. I'm really liking this new blend. I will for sure order more of it.

A new favorite
Title says it. Briar fox is my main all day blend. It's still my favorite but getting difficult to find in stock. This is different, almost English like, but fits my bill.

Nice blend
This was my first experience with C&D blends. Very high quality tobacco; good, complex, rich flavor. I don't have an extensive enough vocabulary to adequately describe this blend. I simply know I like it. This blend is true tobacco flavor straight through, and rather stout, too. It burned quickly, as it arrived much drier than I prefer. As for the room note, my wife thought it smelled somewhere between an English blend and a good cigar. Dedicated aro smokers need to avoid this blend. I will be reordering this one on occasion.
