Daughters & Ryan Cockstrong

If this tastes like a cigarette, then these people are smoking some excellent cigarettes! This is a generic blend in the very best sense of the word--general, universal, catholic, balanced. It has perfect balance--slightly sweet, very slightly bra... ckish, earthy, nutty. This stuff is amazing at this price. If you want to play with it, it takes flavors very, very well. It could be an RYO if you wanted a killer quality cigarette--though very hard to inhale. This blend will not bite. It is not a blend focused on any one characteristic, but is simply a grand slam for a genuinely delicious, easy, tame, reasonably strong blend. Given how well it accepts toppings, and how well it mixes with almost anything, and how well it stands alone, it may be my favorite blend. Versatility is king. Update: I have used this now with molasses and various extracts (particularly anise) to make quite credible mock- ups of Velvet, Carter Hall, and SWR regular. Next I will add some rose water and coriander to try for a Lakeland effect.

Just what I was looking for...good strength and taste!

This is my third try of Daughters and Ryan tobacco. It is so excellent that I intend to try many more. Cockstrong is rich, pure tobacco with no bite at all. This is pure tobacco with no flavorings at all. It reminds me of Cornell and Deal's Orion's Arrow only a bit more refined. The oriental is refreshing and brings a sweet touch to an otherwise hearty bowl. I very much recommend this!

A very robust blend that had my head spinning after two bowls. I specifically picked D&R Cockstrong because it was an American mixture. When I had moved on to pipes away from cigarettes, I still had a pouch of Bugler cigarette tobacco left over. I tried it in a pipe and was so impressed with the flavor that I've been searching ever since for a blend that would recreate the same taste. I found exactly that with this blend. After trying Match Dunhill Nightcap, Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake, Captain Black Regular, and Lane 1-Q, I decided this would be my prefered daily blend. It's nothing but a robust all-tobacco tasting blend that I loved ever since.

A simple straightforward tobacco. Do not be fooled by the name. It's very smooth and tasty. I use this as strictly a RYO tobacco and Im very satisfied with it. Has a nice bold flavor without being strong or harsh. I plan on keeping this as a changeup tobacco in my daily rotation.

I bought the 40 gram tin of cockstrong to try it out, and I liked it so much I turned around and bought a 1 lb. bag on my next order. I use it to roll my own cigarettes, and this has a similar throat hit to an M. Red. It taste pretty strong, kind of earthy, so i add some other tobaccos in to take the flavor in a different direction, usually, but I can and have smoked just the cockstrong, and it makes for some good tobacco. I am hoping to try the rest of the D&R catalogue soon

Nice but not my favorite. Cigarillo-like but not at all cheap-tasting. Thick, rich, smooth mouth feel. Strong but not overly so, through either Gizeh full flavor or full flavor extra. Wide and short flakey ribbon cut. Stuffs fine but can be rubbed out a little to make it easier. Like it but will probably order others next round.

It’s decent on its own, and really nice to add to weaker blends to give them a bit more oomf

For those who do not now how bulk tobacco is sent.I brought 32oz it was ship in one pound bags it is not vacuumed packed,it came a little dry but was ok. I had it shipped USPS priority I received it in three days.I was a little bit in fear of buying bulk I thought it would come very dry this WASN'T the case .Thanks You P&C .

While this is quality tobacco it was a bit too much like roll your own cigarette tobacco in the guise of a pipe blend for me. It has a nice flavor and burns well with a cool smoke but again it has a mostly cigarette taste after a few puffs. If that's something you enjoy then this is a great blend but for me it was a miss.

First time ordering this tobacco, I like it but seems to be a bit stronger and not quite as smooth as Venguer Platinum which is what I usually buy. It is another high quality tobacco from Daughters and Ryan.

This is a high quality tobacco as all D & R brands seem to be. This could easily be an everyday smoke for me. It does not smoke as strong as it is named and it does not bite the tongue. Taste is more Burley than Oriental or Virginia.

I wasn't a fan at first. While the cut is nice and the moisture is perfect straight out of the tin, I didn't enjoy the smoke. My first impressions were that of a good quality cigarette tobacco. The flavors were not entirely unpleasant, but not my usual fair either. However, after a few bowls, I have discovered that there are some subtle nutty flavors when paired with a cup of coffee that I enjoy on occasion.
