Daughters & Ryan Ramback

Ramback tobaccos are highlighted by the use of hearty and fragrant Turkish leaf, expertly blended for balance and richness. Try the exotic flavor of these hard-to-find tobaccos and see why Ramback is so popular.

Ramback Regular is rich in wonderful, fragrant Izmir, one of the best known Turkish tobaccos for a slightly sweet and exotic flavor

Ramback Gold utilizes the same flavorful Izmir as Ramback Regular but adds a bright flue-cured leaf for a lighter, sweeter flavor.

Ramback Balkan combines some uniquely sweet flue-cured tobacco with the bright and exotic flavor of select small-leaf Orientals, including the fabled Yenidje.

I like it. It's a
I like it. It's a great choice if you're looking to change things up a little. Nice blend of quality Orientals, pleasant flavor, and moderate aroma.

Delicious!
An exquisite tobacco, which I happen to smoke in paper pipes. The Macedonian Orientals are cool and spiced and compliment the Virginias. A cool smoke that graces the palate after you put it out.

A mild and 'different' kind of sweetness
This was a very nice, very smooth smoke from the first puff when just charring. The sweetness is sort of like a very mild bite on a sugar cane (for those who have had that experience and enjoyment!). It doesn't start at the tip of the tongue like, say, Virginias, but gently rolls to the mid and back of the tongue making it feel like almost a syrup - very smooth and gentle. It was a dry tobacco, but since I'm used to cavendishes and such being far more moist, I'm wondering if drier isn't better, because this is another tobacco that from the first puff of simply charring it was a very nice taste and I knew instantly I would like this blend. This is easily an all-day blend...at least it is if you are alone since I have no one around to tell me about the room aroma it gives. This is also a mild enough, bite-free blend for a pipe smoking initiate. I can't see *anyone* who wouldn't enjoy this blend, unless it's someone who just simply likes a flavor to reach out of the pipe, grab you by the shirt collar and black your eye!

Good substitute to my mix that was discontinued
I smoke Klompen Kloggen for years but Jack Peters owner of Sterling Tobacco sadly passed away. I’ll miss Jack and the Kloggen.

Camel Smokers Dream
Purchased this along with a bag of Picayune, and other tobaccos for my pipes. Nice in a pipe, but awesome in RYO cigs. I try to do pipe at home, but cigs are what I will take to work as my smoking time is very limited. Ramback is very smooth, and will remind you of old Camels. This is an all day if you smoke cigs, though it will set you back more than other RYO type tobaccos like OHM and Cherokee. Is it worth it? Indeed, as this is a wonderful straight Turkish. Pick this up with some OHM, Good Stuff, or Cherokee and do some mixing to suit your taste, and help your budget. Picayune is an entirely different monster, but great as well used properly. You won't go wrong with Ramback no matter how you use it.

Balkan
Ramback Balkan is a fantastic tobacco. It has a delicious taste and nice aroma. The blend is perfect. Now, many would say "How is it a Balkan without Latakia?" The answer would be that the blend is so harmonious and balanced there simply is no need or room for Latakia. However, I have a friend who mixes blending Latakia in at an 8:2 ratio and loves it. It tastes good and is more traditionally Balkan, but I personally like it without addition. Some will say that without Latakia it resembles a Turkish cigarette --all I can say to that is "That is one really good cigarette." Blended with Latakia, it reminds me of John Cotton Smyrna. On its own, it is hard to think of a comparable blend. It smokes cool (but I do smoke slowly.) I could not recommend it more highly--and for the price--it is in a world of its own.

Not bad
Neither as mild nor as smooth as I remember but a good smoke nonetheless. Some bite, burns nicely.

Ramback Regular
Good stuff, definitely something I would stock up for long-term use, compared to most tobacco. I like Turkish smokes- been smoking Turkish tobacco for decades- and this compares with the better quality stuff that is available in the States.. Is there better in terms of taste and consistency? Probably but none that I know of at present, at least that is available here. Smooth and not overwhelming, no "bite". Makes excellent smokes and packs well. Recommend and will definitely purchase again!

Smokes as expected
Burns quick but quality is better than other big bag cheapo tobacco I've bought in the past. Mixes well w/latakia I have. Would buy again

Great tobacco
Have really enjoyed the flavor of this smoke.

Real Good
Could be 5 stars, if it had fewer stems in it.

"MELLOW YELLOW...GRRRREAT !
"MELLOW YELLOW"..D.R.R.B. reminds me of all the superb oriental/Turkish small leaf tobaccos prevalent in all the great tobacconist shops in the 1960's New York. This mixture will ring true for the veteran tobacco connoisseur who has experienced the now gone Balkan mixtures. True, I do love the many heavy and medium laced defunct SYRIAN LATAKIA and BASHI-BAGLI/IZMAR/YENIDGE blends... I am smoking this as is, AND, using as an additive to my available English and Balkan blends. However, many of you with bland palettes simply will not appreciate the many flavor nuances of these tobacco types. Again, kudos to PC . GRAZIA, DANKE'.

Looking for an all day smoke ? No bite. Try this one !!!

Excellent
Great taste especially when mixed with Lane MV 1000 and corncob pipe.

Awesome
This is the best tobacco I have tried, along with ramback gold and ramback regular and three sails. I guess I am a Turkish tobacco fan. I strongly recommend smoking it in a corn cob pipe. I ordered the mark twain and only a new one will do. Another review recommended mixing in some Sweet Virginia which really made it fantastic. I also tried the Balkan and loved that. All are by daughters and Ryan tobacco. No bite !!!

Exactly as advertised
It's a mild, slightly sour and light blend of Turkish and Virginia smokes. It's a good contrast to the usual heavy Latakia blends offered here. The Ramback Balkan is a little heavier but a little more flavorful smoke. Both of those blends are good all-day smokes or good mixers with a blend you find too powerful.

It's gold to me
Great product and exactly what it says it is.

The finest of the finest.
The finest of the finest. An outstanding Dark Fired and Virginia mix that pairs great with Turkish tobacco.

Adds just the right balance
Adds just the right balance to a RYO cigarette with Turkish and Dark Fire Kentucky Burley. Tastes just like a Camel Cigarette!

The quality is great, but not the taste that is to my liking, I like to try new things, and to date, DR has the best to offer!

Most Flavorful Turkish so far
I have smoked several different Turkish blends over the past year. D&R Izmir leaf is the most flavorful so far, especially if exhaled through the nose. However, I cannot comment on the Virginia leaf because to me in takes from the Izmir. I have since blended the Izmir with Burley since I prefer a cooler smoke.

A mellow smoke
I am overall pleased with this blend. It has a variety of cured leafs common with the Turkish. Add with a dark cavendish or on its own. Natural taste and good cured leaf humidity has mellow smoke if kept fresh from first open.

A Very Flavorful Tobacco
These are pne of those purchases that I wish were in stock the first time ordered from P&C, and then getting tracked by sales and other great tobaccos. However, I always knew that I loved all turkish tobaccos and this is the blend that palette has been waiting for since my journey in pipe tobacco began. This is a blend that is perfect for any and all cigarette smokers to transition to smoking pipes. There is a lot of flavor in this blend for light nicotine profile. This is the tobacco that will get to quit inhaling because there so much flavor when not inhaled; it’s like an explosion of flavors in my mouth. I can taste sweet, sour, woodsy, buttery, and a light cigar taste in the background. I hope this in stock when I need to reorder because a mainstay. A definite an all day smoke at anytime of the day.

Nice
Medium to FF Camel smoker? Ramback is for you. It's like one but without cheap and nasty stuff in it. The Turkish is quality and a good strength but not overpowering. Prefer it to the PS 84 for MYO.

Yea and Nay
Big fan of the Daughters and Ryan tobaccos. They offer a smooth smoking experience that reminds me of my favorite cigs, Camel Blues. Went with the "Windsail Platinum" and the "Two Timer Gold" as the Ramback had a little too much of a Turkish bite to it (can really feel it in back of the throat and sinuses). My go-to Turkish tobacco is the "Peter Stockkebye Turkish 84". Find that PS mixed with the Windsail and Two Timer offers a mellow, Camel-like taste.

Decent 100% Turkish plays well with others
D&R Ramback Regular is one of only a few cost-effective 100% Turkish blends out there, and as such is quite a find for the economy minded. As a standalone, it leaves something to be desired. However, it shines when blended, especially with menthol/mint varietals. I blend 60% OHM Mint with 40% Ramback and get a cool, smooth, tasty and beguiling smoke that delivers a satisfaction that never grows old along with a nominal dose of "the vitamin" that soothes even the most severe cravings. Former Camel Menthol users will discover striking similarities using this admix, which is reminiscent of Camel Turkish Jade.

Nice RYO turkish blend
This blend has a very nice flavor and mellow on the palate. I taste a slight hint of sweetness and the exhale is where I taste it most. I use this for RYO cigarettes only. Used with a Zen blue King size tube.

RYO Like a Turkish Gold
Nice smooth tobacco, on the stronger side, Haven't tried it in a pipe yet, but expect it to be a little harsh, I plan on blending it with golden leaf to balance the flavor, maybe a little menthol as well. I would buy it again, but as a blender not a plain straight rolling tobacco. Turkish Gold smokers will love this blend.

Ramback Gold
A fine tobacco. It will definitely be in my rotation from now on.

One of my favorite Balkans!
Many Balkans are ruined for my by too much Perique. I like lots of Latakia and a darker Virginia. This comes pretty close to my favorite.

My Favorite Blend
Smooth with a nice splash of Oriental for a great, affordable smoking experience. Smokes very nicely in a tube or a pipe - I love it.

Awesome as always from D&R
Ramback gold worked very well from a ryo perspective to add in to heavier red or turkish blends to add some primo flavor. Would by again 1,000 times. Sincerly, Ryan. S

Love it occasionally.
Arrives dry two lemon peels overnight does the trick .the taste of this for the first time is kinda like the taste of a cigar but so smooth after 2 or 3 sticks I'm hooked . I smoke 1 or 2 a day . It's a nice change from my daily windsail silver or platinum. Very tasty heavy smoke but no bite at all.ramback gold ftw!

Interesting yet flawed
Sold a bit too dry for my liking. A true Turkish blend but cries out for a bit of Virginia to carry the flavor. Interesting mixed with a bit of Perique or Dark Fired. I'll likely stick to Peter Stokkebye Turkish Export for my regular Oriental smoking blend.

A nice surprise!
I was really surprised. I expected another drug store tobacco, but, I got great flavor with no tongue bite and a good burn. I'll buy it again, even if I don't smoke it every day.

dry and dusty
I agree with the review of Sept 21. Very dry and most of it is dust. I've not lit it yet but I suggest that you get some zigzag rolling papers with your tobacco.

Cigarette flavor
This was disappointingly similar to cigarette tobacco. I ordered the 1 oz. bag to try it out. It came very, very dry, with about half of the bag consisting of tobacco dust. The rest was so dry it crumbled to dust when I loaded it into my pipe. There was no pleasurable pipe taste- just cigarette.

Very Nice
This blend is very pleasant to smoke, though I typically roll it because, like many of the D&R blends, this isn't really great in a pipe. Still, it's mild, smooth, and much more palatable than the similar Ryback Gold (which I usually dilute with Windsail Platinum to make it less harsh). Very nice tobacco.
Customer Testimonials
Nice rich smoke. Turkish is blended in at just the right amount. Rich, but very smooth. Very enjoyable and satisfying smoke. Problem - enough stems to compost your garden with. Have to thoroughly go through the tobacco to get the stems out. Not only the occasional small stems, more like stem stalks. Will order again and see if I just got a fluke. Don't like paying for stems.
TS of Tulsa, OK
Maybe I got a bum batch? Bone dry, a lot of scrap & stems.

There is gunfire across the border. Fearless laughter dominoes around the mess tent, as we wait our turn to feed, mulling over the nearing hour when we shall again tease death. But, for now a fired pipe of Ramback Gold rests in the hand warming the blood, smoke rising sweetly with an uncommon smoothness imbued with zen abandonment; the rushing forth of future-shock breakdown, reunification of loved ones, whether here or in heaven matters not. This Turkish leaf has a fresh floral fragrance somewhat similar to marjoram. I blend this with Two Timer for a milder taste.
RH of Middletown, RI
The Ramback Gold is one of my regular purchases and I have always enjoyed it for its very smooth mellow flavor. My last bag was an immense disappointment however; it was chock full of sticks, and not just the little leaf veins I mean sticks like someone had ground up the stalks, and for the life of me I could not keep it lit, even when mixed with other tobaccos. and before you say it was the humidity, I've been blending my own for years and keep a careful eye on my storage humidity. I'm hoping this was just a one off thing, a Friday, holiday weekend bag, so I will not give a bad rating. D & R's tobacco is always excellent, the blends are great as is and even better when tweeked by blending to your own personal taste. I got a sample last order of the Ramback Balkan and I must say it was a very tasty tobacco, so much so that I've added it to this month's order. Hope this helps.
BN of Waite, ME
I was very pleased to see this back on the market. Absolutely exquisite. The finest Turkish I've had by a mile, and far superior to Ramback Gold. An array of Balkan/Turkish tobaccos; Izmir, Yenice, etc. with sun cured Turkish VA. Words would be inadequate to describe how wonderful it tastes. No potpouri Latakia crap taste. No casings I can detect. Bag was a tad smaller than it used to be, but very few stems (there used to be a lot). Good cut and humidity. Bliss.
NR of Franklin, CT
Bags have been pretty dry with lots of air in them. Fine taste but needs humidifying.
