East India Trading Company Cellar Reserve

East India Trading Company's Cellar Reserve is one of the most unique aromatics available.  The base blend of Burley, Virginia and black Cavendish has been kissed with aged rum (anejo) and is finished by adding a touch of Perique which adds depth, a dark fruit note plus a hint of spice. If you're hankering for a great-tasting blend with superb aroma with a nice little twist, you've got to try Cellar Reserve.

Good product. But anything ordered
Good product. But anything ordered takes a silly amount of time to receive... unless you want to pay more in shipping than the actual product cost. And with today's market there are not many choices.

Cool and Smooth vs Harsh and Hot
The East Indian Trade Compnay tins smoke smoother and cooler compared to Petersons Connoisseur’s Choice. Petersons is a little harsher and bites more. Comparing these, I'd take any of the East Indian Trade Co. over Peterson.

Good Not Great Though
This one was a little goopy. No tongue bite though. I just wish it qas a bit stronger in taste. Tin note is strong though.

WINNER!
I don't know where to begin. I first opened the tin and absolutely loved the smell of the tobacco. It made me anxious to try it. I was not disappointed at all. The rum flavor came through without being bitey or overwhelming. The aroma in the room was awesome. I purchased the 2 Rum flavors for the challenge. This Cellar Reserve definitely won over the Connoisseur's Choice, in my humble - newbie - opinion. Thank you for introducing me to this flavor.

Delicious dessert tobacco
I love these EIC offerings. They are all very moist tobaccos which I personally kind of like about them but you may prefer to dry them out some. Very rich. Not an all day smoke for me but more like a luxurious after dinner treat dessert. Tin note on this one is strong like coffee and caramel is what I get. Taste for me is caramel heavy with vanilla and coconut. Produces a rich smoke that delightfully fills the room. Burns cool all the way through even when I tend to greedily hotbox it it stays cool. Little to no tongue bite. Really shines for me with it's nutty after taste. Very tasty. Highly recommend if you like sweet aromatics.

A truly pleasing smoke
I recently tried the East India trading Company Cellar Reserve. It was a great pleasure to smoke this pipe tobacco. I love it! It is a medium to light cool smoke, with hints of vanilla and coconut. It is rich in flavor and aroma. It does not bite and it has a nice thick full bodied white/gray smoke. It has a mildly sweet tobacco aftertaste. I am so pleased that I found this tobacco, that I will buy it regularly, from now on. Please do yourself a favor, and try it.

I prefer mild tasting-tobacco but
I prefer mild tasting-tobacco but still flavorful and though with exceptions some aromatics. This blend hits all the notes; burns cool and holds the taste to the bottom of the bowl. It should be dried a bit. My tin was moist but not overly so, an all day smoker for sure, it also burns clean for an aromatic.

Prominent Spiced Rum Flavor
This blend presents an intriguing spiced rum flavoring that includes notes of clove and perhaps allspice or cardamom. I can see why this is a popular blend--the flavors are truly likeable, and the addition of perique is a nice touch. My only gripe is strictly a matter of personal taste--the casing is somewhat heavy-handed in my opinion and tends to overwhelm the flavor of the tobaccos. That said, it is a smooth burning blend with no noticeable bite and the aroma is fantastic. With its prominent flavoring, I could see this as a great blending option to impart some rum taste into other tobaccos.

Stocking my cellar with this one!
This is currently my favorite aromatic. It's one of the few that maintains the flavor for most of the bowl. The tin is great and my wife says the room note is fantastic.

Cellar Reserve
My wife bought me the three tobaccos from East India Trading Company, and I love all three! Cellar Reserve could very well be my favorite of the three. Love the aroma, thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience smoking this tobacco. I would recommend Cellar Reserve to anyone wanting a great smoke!
5 out of 5
Lovely!
This one is a winner. The aroma out of the tin is nice and the tobacco is very dark; it looks and smells great. The rum flavoring is enough to be noticeably pleasant, but not overwhelming. The addition of a bit of Perique really works well in this blend as well. I love it! The tobacco was a bit moist out of the tin, so I was worried about how it would burn, but it wasn't an issue at all -- it burns very well. So far I've mostly been smoking this out of one of my cobs, a decision which was rather arbitrary to be honest. But, thus far, I'm really enjoying it. I'll have to try it in one of my briars or hardwoods. But, so far so good!

a clear winner
East India Trading Cellar Reserve is the clear winner in the RUM PUNCH BOUT. While Peterson's Connoisseur's Choice is a pretty good blend, it tends to bite and lacks the room note of Cellar Reserve.

Great tobacco.
I didn’t know if I would like this tobacco or not. I smoke Half and Half, Stokkobey 52 English, and Frog Morton a lot. So I ordered this and a new pipe to try it. Man O Man, this is a very good tobacco. Fairly moist but it still burns well, and it’s a smooth smoke. I got lucky with this tobacco, will order again.

Ehhhh
Got this in a package deal along with some Peterson connoisseur’s choice, as frankly I prefer it to this blend. This is one of those “not tobacco all casing” blends, and while I respect that’s some people’s preferred taste, I’m not feeling it.

One of my Favorites
This is one of my favorite go to's when I want to indulge my sweet tooth. And one of my favorite rum based aromatics. A little sticky upon opening, needs a little dry time. Tin and room notes are flavorful. A cool smoke with no bite. I also get slight notes of toasted coconut on the finish. The addition of Perique as some additional depth to this blend. Definitely keeping this in my rotation.

Smooth, Flavorful, No bite.
This is a out-of-the-tin moist blend, subtle aroma. I like how smooth and cool it feels. The flavors are light, not over powering against each other. The rum/liquor is the most dominant. I will experiment adding a little Cest LaVie vainilla and I will let you all know how that goes. So far the 2 types of thins that I have order have been excellent choices, which are well described on the label.

Awesome Smoke!
I am new to smoking a pipe and didn't know how crappy the tobacco I smoking was until I tried East India Trading Company tobacco. This is fabulous tobacco. Smoked three bowls back to back with no tongue bit. A very pleasant smell. My brother and a friend tried it, loved it, and now helps themselves to it. I most defiantly will be ordering more.

A 'must have'.
I loved everything about this tobacco, and almost as importantly my family loved the room note. I will always have a tin or two around.

A hint of Perique adds a spicy nuance to this rum-flavored tobacco
Bought this a three tin sampler, and I was pleasantly surprised. It's fairly mild and great for a daily smoke. It has a hint of Perique to add a little fruit & spice to the rum flavor. An engaging, semi-sweet room note.

Exceptional
Possesses a great flavor and aroma. I'll not smoke anything other than this, Officer's Club, and Royal Challenge.

Wonderful. One of my top 10
Cellar Reserve has become one of my top 10 tobaccos. I was first given a tin as a gift and upon opening it, loved it from the first sniff. Very aromatic and smooth. I love whiskey infused cigars and tobaccos, so this was a fantastic find. Highly recommend it. Can't wait to try the other EITC tins.

Top notch
Reminds me a little of 7 seas regular, but the perique gives a very interesting subtle musk and this blend definitely has a bit of pepper showing through. Add vanilla and caramel tones and it's a deep and complex flavor. Smokes easy and pleases the room. Very, very enjoyable.

Still the best I've found "smooth"

Perique pleasantly punctuates the palate with a pinch of pepper.
The Cellar's Reserve was part of a three tin sampler. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor and room note. It has a semi-sweet rum taste with a hint of pepper. I came to find out this blend has some Perique, which I believe is what gives it the peppery nuance. I really enjoy this and have bought additional tins. This has also opened my palate to trying new tobaccos blends and venturing into the English blends.

New favorite
This was the first East India Trading Co. tobacco I tried, and it is my favorite. Well balanced, no bite, easy smoke. I really like the rum flavor. This has become my go-to smoke lately. Great tobacco!

Extremely Pleasant, Sweet Cinnamon
Like many others have described, this tin came to me with relatively wet tobacco inside. I lit up my first bowl of it in my favorite briar and was blown away. Ignore the moist leaf, it affected the smoke none at all, no gurgling whatsoever. The room note is fantastic, and has been commented on by my girlfriend and coworkers. The described rum note is very noticeable, as well as a general sweet, pastry-like taste. Very smooth, and in a good pipe I have yet to experience any bite. I noted a bit of cinnamon which kept it from being overly sugary to me. Overall a great aromatic blend which will have me keeping an eye on the EITC line of tins.

Smooth like a plum pudding
It is smooth and sweet. This is a great after dinner tobacco or even an all day one. It reminds me of something like a plum or bread pudding. The rum is there but certainly not too strong.

Delicious
I am new to pipe smoking so I had to try several different blends to try to find a smoke I liked. I am a long time cigar smoker so I like a strong smoke with flavor. This blend not only smells great, but smokes very smooth on the tongue. Still looking for a blend I like better than Cellar Reserve.

Surprisingly smooth aromatic
When I opened the tin I was amazed at how wet-gooey it looked and was afraid it would be hard to keep lit. First bowl slow smoked really clean and was very easy to keep lit with slow smoke technique. Copious amounts of smoke that really sets it off for a room note. Love the flavor, a new favorite. Hope it's not out of stock long as I want several more tins.

Top Notch Aromatic Blend
I've been an adherent of the pipe ritual for less than a year. Started off with the more potent English / Oriental blends. While I do enjoy them still, I have a growing fondness for well-executed aromatics. Cellar Reserve is very well done, indeed. The blend is complex, yet mellow and very relaxing. My wife is pleased with the room note. The only minor gripe was the moisture content out of the tin. It required a bit of air time to dry out properly.

Excellent Aromatic Blend
This is a very good blend. The black cavendish really sets this aromatic off. The only problem was it was super super moist. I am more of an english blend smoker but i would recommend this to anyone.

A+
I will start by saying I normally am not a perique lover. Some of the vapers ive tried have jus been a little overpowering in the spice department. So when I saw it in the description I was unsure. I have however been looking for an aro with a bit more depth and flavor. BOOOOOOOM! This is it. The Virginias stay bright, the top note is sweet and delicious with the rum shining brighter than the vanilla and then there is the star of the show..... The subtle PERIQUE? Yes it is just present enough to give and added depth and keep the brain thinking throughout the bowl. It smoked cool, but I'm a controlled smoker. My wife would prefer I smoke CAO in the house but other than that..... Buy it

I'd buy it again.
Great flavor and it burns well for how loaded it is. It's similar in aroma to Ole Shenandoah. I think there is rum flavoring and it all coalesces to a sweet fragrant molasses like aroma.

Of the three, my favorite!
Of the three East India tobaccos, this one is by far my favorite. It has a just right taste and could be an all day choice. I love the aroma upon opening the tin and that starts my mind rushing to fill my pipe and taste its really wonderful flavor. I am not a good one at discussing what flavors constitute this smoke's make up, I just know that for me it tastes great.

At last:
Finally, I have found the smoke that I have been searching for after 40 years of pipe smoking. Great aroma, great taste, and burns cool. Even my wife likes the smell and that in it's self is a big plus.

Smokes Well
Good aromatic, smokes really well. A little sweet for my taste, but that's not a reflection on the tobacco and more one of personal taste.
4 out of 5
Very Nice
The first whiff when I opened the tin was of the "splash" of rum. I like rum and rum flavoring so that was okay but it is strong. It was also a bit too moist. 20 minutes in the bowl took care of that. I like this. Puff too hard though and it heats up. Lightly sweet and the perique is in there somewhere. All in all an enjoyable smoke. I'd buy it again

Cellar Reserve
Good airomatic, flavorful with mellow tones, but not as flavorful as the Officers Club.

Out of the Cellar, Onto the Pedestal
This stuff is glorious. At first I was a little worried about moisture given that my usual blends that are of the same consistency require a certain amount of drying before a smoke but right out the gate it preformed beautifully with no gurgling. With a more flavorful rum note than I anticipated, the sweetness of the blend definitely shines with a fantastic room aroma that even acquaintances of mine who use vaporizors appreciate. I, myself, couple it with strong beverages like coffee or (more) rum that I can enjoy that I don't have the tongue bite to worry over. Although initially purchased on a whim, Cellar Reserve has become a staple in my pantry and I'm eager to taste the other varieties the East India Trading Company has in their coffers.
Customer Testimonials
I typically steer clear of aromatics, having grown more accustomed to stronger pipe tobacco. I find the flavoring of most aromatics cloying. I usually stick to English, Balkan, straight VA, VA/Perique...you get the idea. However, I love Gurhka cigars. When I saw they released pipe tobacco I thought I would give it a try, if I didn't like it I could send it to a friend and keep the tin. With that being said, I have found a great breakfast smoke. The flavors meld extremely well together and smoked in my Nording Erikson pipe, the smoke was dry and bite-free. I highly recommend this tobacco, the addition of Perique is great, I may even add more in myself. I look forward to possibly trying the other two offerings. I only hope they end up releasing some stronger non-aromatics in the near future.
TS of Omro, WI
I really enjoyed this. While I haven't been smoking a pipe long and can't break it down for you, I found this one very pleasant. I wish I could say that about some of the others.
MS of Umatilla, FL
Beautiful smoke! An aromatic with Perique? why not, when I started the bowl it was Rum, Vanilla, and a hint of that Perique, then it changes to smooth caramel like those "caramel creme" candies, this is exactly what i was looking for, i will be buying more tins of this stuff!
TH of roanoke, VA
Fantastic smoke! There is a rich sweet taste with a wonderful room note. This burns good and not too hot. It is the best "Rum" Aromatic I have ever smoked. If you don't like Perique don't get scared away from this because there is just enough to add a mild and pleasant spice to this wonderful blend. You bet I'll be ordering more of this one!
RJ of Pocahontas, IA
Sitting here enjoying my second bowl of this truly pleasing tobacco. I bought a tin of this tobacco in addition to some pretty well known blends but keep going back to this because it is really good
EJ of aURORA, IL
My experience with the Cellar Reserve is nothing short of fantastic! I find strong notes of vanilla and caramel radiate into the rum with ease but the rum takes the finish. The overall sweetness, combined with a fruity undertone makes this blend come across as bright, I was expecting it to be a bit dull from the description, Cellar Reserve has been a very pleasant surprise!
