Edward G. Robinson

Edward G. Robinson, named for the late actor who helped create the blend, is an American English style mixture of Burley, Cavendish and Latakia, with a light, complimentary top note. It's very much like the blends everyone seemed to enjoy in days past. Take a trip to yesteryear with this pleasant tobacco.

Great codger blend
Great tasting blend with just a tad of sweetness. I really don't consider it an aromatic as i don't taste the supposed toppings. Very cool burning with a wisp of latakia every here and there. All and all a very enjoyable smoke.

Better than expected.
Great cool and flavorful smoke. Stays lit and packs well. Room note is very pleasant. I just recently found this great tobacco and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Tobacco
A super English Tobacco, would highly recommend this to someone who wants to try a English blend for the first time, has no bite.

And I liked it!
Awhile back I wanted to try an English tobacco, so I called P&C. This was recommended to me by one of their great staff, and I really enjoyed it! I like the sweetness of it, and the fact that nothing is so overpowering. I tried it and I liked it!

Give a little drying time and the flavors really come out of This blend.

This is not a go-to
This is not a go-to blend for daily use. But you should keep this in your cellar for the time when you want a little something special.

Smooth mellow aromatic
Yeah, curiosity got the best of me too. What's all this fuss about an old blend of yesteryear named after that old school actor of yesteryear? I can see why there was a campaign to keep this one alive. It's a good blend with a cool history. I don't smoke aromatics regularly, but I had some upcoming social events where I would be smoking around people, so I wanted to keep it pleasant. This was a good option for me. It's not sticky sweet and the tiny dash of Latakia gave this blend enough gravity for me to enjoy it. Tin note: think prunes and a kiss of sweet red wine. The smoke is plentiful and soft. An easy burner that doesn't get hot. That wine topping comes through a lot, but its not sickening. Medium strength, which is good enough for a full flavor guy like me. My favorite part is the ghost of Ed G. R. starting at me from the tin, imploring me to enjoy this labor of his passion for good tobacco. Best of all, I was complimented on the room note immediately, which hasn't happened since I hung up the Capitan years ago. A must try for a wonderful nostalgic experience

Tasty with wine notes.
A classic everyday smoke for me.

Excellent aromatic
I was doubtful on aromatics. After multiple pipers encouraged me to try EGD, I did. One smoke was all it took to know I needed the big Can. Smooth fruit, spice and good tobacco for a relaxing bowl that burns cleanly to just ash. No heavy maintenance needed other than a tamp now and again. Very good for the price.

Great Tobacco
I found this to be a wonderful smoke. Nothing like an OTC tobacco. It is subtle but with body and nuance. Now I’m starting to sound like a writer. But it is very, very good. Smooth with no bite as long as you don’t puff like a steam engine. Great taste with a cool smoke and wonderful aromas. Don’t let the name deter you, this is a great tobacco that you will enjoy over and over again. I was amazed.

Set back you clock a few decades...
Okay, I don't smoke aromatics. Well...I thought. I tried this not long ago and decided I had to change my tune. It's an old fashioned codger burley up front with a bit of latakia and top dressing, very lightly applied. Once lit you'll actually taste the underlying tobacco, burley up front with the flavoring melding nicely with the overall tobacco taste. Definitely from a time where pipe smokers wanted to experience the tobacco with a bit of something else to make it interesting. One of two aromatics that I smoke.

A Superb Very American Blend
Many like to talk about an all day tobacco. I wouldn't ever puff away all day, obviously for reasons of health but if even not my tongue couldn't handle it. If I did desire an ADT, EGR would be the stuff I'd be chugging on. This blend is the nicest "American/English" out there. It's basically a "codger Burley" with a fortunately addition of a non-stinging mild Virginia, a small but noticeable dose of a smooth, cool Latakia and a delicious, subtle Plum topping that melds beautifully and isn't goopy or cloying. The tobacco lights easily, stays lit, and delivers a smooth, velvety, satisfying smoke that is slightly sweet but not like "aromatic sweet" or "Virginia sweet". I usually purchase tobacco in small quantities in bulk or by the typical 1 1/2 oz tin. However my original tin went so fast that I just purchased the 12 oz here at Pipes and Cigars. Most Highly recommended.

Johnny Rocco's Blend
This is what I call a craver. If you don't smoke it for a while you start to crave it. An old time OTC blend that's hung around for 60 years or more. You can pull hard on this blend and it won't bite. If you like a very mild English blend then you'll like this tobacco. Very different aroma in the tin and settles down to a tasty bite free smoke that won't offend anyone. Try it out, it's worth the price of admission. Jim V

Had to try it.
OK, I'll admit it since E.G. Robinson smoked it I had to try it. This is a gentle but flavorful blend. Just enough smokiness from the Latakia and sweetness from the Cavendish worked well together. May buy again.

Try it!
OK, I'll admit it, I bought this because it was a favorite of E.G. Robinson and had to give it a try. This is quite mild even though it contains Latakia. This is very well blended as you could taste the different types of tobacco but none stood out on it's own.

Edward G. Robinson
A unique flavor combination. The Latakia is in the background and the wine added for flavor is a nice touch. Probably not something I'll buy often but worth a try.

Edward G Robinson pipe blend Meh! See??
All in all a good tobacco with a blend of burley cavendish and Latakia with an interesting casing however can be a little bitey especially with a fast puffer like me take your cadence moderately and it'll be a good experience. That being said I do like this tobacco just need to take a little slower it could be the alcohol based casing but don't let that scare you it's a very good blend!
