This is the best bulk mix I have found so far on Pipes and Cigars, always a nice smoke, I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a smooth, smoky taste.

This stuff is consistently good. It’s definitely one of my favorites. I found it looking for Bell’s “Three Nuns Green” which is discontinued unfortunately. Is you mind your pipe selection, getting this to stay lit is no problem. If it gets too hot it will be bitter. Otherwise, it’s smoky, sweet, and slightly spicy and tangy. Try it out!!

Hats off to Mr. O for producing such a fine blend! It’s has become my favorite after ordering a few ounces at the first of the year I was not sure what to expect. That being said, I received a pound yesterday! I was a fan of aromatics but I guess the taste buds are maturing over the years. I have probably 60 blends in my cellar but I guess they will just sit because this is just a tasty blend. Thanks P&C for the early delivery!

This is a really solid Balkan-style smoke. I was looking for something similar to SPC's plum pudding and this is close. I have purchased 10 oz. so far and have been very pleased. Although it isn't as in your face as PP, I find that it is much more flavorful than unpressed Balkan blends like white knight and the BSOSM match. It's sweet, smokey and overall, it is one of the better Balkan blends out there (bulk or otherwise). This and "Larry's blend" are fighting for the same spot in my rotation currently.

This makes for an enjoyable bowl, no matter the time of day, nor the season. I do think it is priced a little high though.

My new favorite! I have probably close to 40 blends in my cellar ranging from ounces to pounds of wonderful blends and I could care less! This was a shot in the dark for me considering my favorite was Crème Brûlée. I honestly could just empty out all of the other blends that I have in my cellar and replace them with just this one blend. This is an amazing blend and if you are thinking about ordering an ounce don’t, order a pound! It’s like nothing I have ever had before and I really enjoy it.

If you like Plum Pudding, you will like Tasty Cake. The topping is every bit as delicious as SPC’s PP. Yes the smoke is cool and lovely just like other reviews say. Think fruit cobbler in a cast iron Dutch oven that has the essence of campfire to it.

Worth every penny! Bought a pound for a reason... it's almost like if Mississippi River was great instead of good.

I haven't smoked Latakia in a while (I usually enjoy aromatic blends) so I decided to give this a try. This is one of the best English/Oriental blends I have ever smoked. The Latakia, oriental and Perique add just the right amount of spiciness while the Virginia and black Cavendish add a hint of sweetness. I would recommend this blend to anyone who enjoys English and Oriental blends. It tastes great with a Missouri Meerschaum corncob pipe.

I bought three pounds of Tastykake a year ago, and I stashed it away after some sampling for a benchmark. I took a biscuit out a few days ago, it has a dark and dank smoky aroma in the jar, with a raisin or dried fruit smell that is fairly strong. I loaded it up in one of my Calabash gourd pipes. The blend has smoothed out and sweetened a bit. It's a remarkably cool and slow burning tobacco, with a very smooth and smoky flavor. It's pretty much a latakia bomb, but not overwhelmingly so. The Perique is a very nice addition to the blend, it adds some spicy tingle to the smoke. It is extremely well behaved and easy to light up and keep burning. It has no bite, at all, and it is a real pleasure to smoke. I'm glad that I put three pounds in the cellar, I believe that it is a limited run, and won't be available after it has run out.

A favorite of mine.

I was hunting for something in bulk to compare to plum pudding. I won’t say this is it, but it is an exceptional smoke. Has a very satisfying cool smoke. I’m not a flavor naming master and can tell you what I taste in each step of the in and out. But it has a wonderful out the hose flavor on the back of your tongue. No bite of smoked cool and slow. This has become one of my daily rotations! So worth the buy!

Has become my #1 Top Blend!! Has Great Flavor, Great Taste, No bite, my 'Go-To-' Aromatic when I want a Good Strong Smoke. I love the way it is packaged in compressed ' Blocks' and the 3 or 4 oz amount lasts my until my next order. Great Blend.... Congrats!!

This stuff is amazing. Preferred as the last smoke of the evening. This stuff reminds me of Copenhagen Snuff, but pipe tobacco and less spitting. Best smoke out of all I’ve tried from P&C.

I never write reviews on anything to be honest. That being said, I had to leave one for this product. I can’t begin to express my satisfaction with this blend. It is everything I want from a solid pipe smoking experience.

I’ve been “battling” these two blends for awhile now and love both of them. These are two fantastic English\Balkan blends. The 10/12 takes a little longer to break up and find a bit more spicy/woodsy than the TastyKake, which is a warm velvety floral/nutty blend. In this battle, the smoker is the clear winner, great bargain for two amazing Russ O offerings.

Absolutely great

This blend is a wonderfully savory, yet sweet and smoky experience. A very compressed Latakia heavy crumble cake. Moisture is middle of the road to a little on the drier side. In my 4 oz, I had to jar it and add a humidification disk for a day or two. This seemed to bring the blend up a little in the moisture content and really made the tin note pop. The Tin note I got was a little savory, with a tart undertone, and a mild bread dough note. Packing is a little tricky unless you hydrate it a little, because as mine came it wanted to turn to powder and chunks with minimal effort. Lighting brought out the latakia and Orientals to the forefront. They are definitely driving and navigating the bus. Flavors of dark fruit, and smoky yet savory sweetness emanated profusely in the chewy, creamy smoke. This is a great Latakia/Oriental blend with Virginia taking a back seat. So much so that I decided to blend two large bowls worth with three coins of Stokkebye Luxury Bullseye flake, and a pinch or two of ribbon cut and cube cut burley. This brought out the Virginia to the forefront, and balanced out the Latakia and orientals to a very pleasant English blend that will burn for nearly an hour in a decent sized bowl. It became a bit of a kitchen sink experience, and with a few weeks in the jar, it really became spectacular.

Awesome smoke I really enjoy this one it’s going to be around my house for a while.

I love the light taste of prunes, raisins and stone fruit on the back end of the smoke. After a bit of drying, it burns very well for a sweet (but not sickly sweet) aromatic pipe fill. It’s very good, and I see this being a mainstay of my jars.

The name says it all! Excellent English with a slightly sweet extremely nuanced flavor that is complex and keeps you coming back for more. Easy all day smoke that would be good with coffee in the morning or excellent after dinner in the evening to close out the day!

I had the original tastekake a few years ago and it was fantastic! This is good but not 5 star good!

My three pounds came as one 2.5lb vacuum sealed package, and one big brownie and several smaller ones. I have to say that I enjoy the blend, the moisture content of mine is just about right for storage (in mason jars), and it needed only a few minutes airing out to be ready to smoke. This is a fairly strong flavor, medium nicotine, tobacco. It burns slowly and its well behaved. I think that the cavendish mellows the smoke, and is a good addition. There's a significant dose of latakia! I'm glad I stocked up, while it's still available.

New to smoking pipes after quitting cigarettes, have tried over 12 tabbacco's certainly this is a winner.

A strong full flavor blend. An instant flavor.

Velvety smooth. A blend that has a bit of everything in balance. Smoky but not too smokey with sweetness that is there but not over bearing. An outstanding blend at a great price!

I think this stuff is kinda like Plum Pudding at a cheaper price point. Now, I never had plain ol PP, but I have smoked my share of PPBB, and this reminds me of that sans the Bourbon. So... you do the math. Not saying it's exact, but it's similar, to me. ..and that is good enough. This will be a frequent reorder for me. I bought a pound for now. Mine came as a bunch of densely packed brownie like cakes. Does need some dry time and can burn hot due to the moisture level. It's not sopping wet, but it can benefit from dry time. I put a few cakes in several pint size mason jars. Perfecto! I even took one cake and added some bourbon to it as an experiment to try to see how close I can get to PPBB. Worth a shot!

Just love the TastyKake...wish manufacturing would be more consistent with regards to moisture and hardness of the cake - it can go to extremes either direction

This is one handsome looking kake and the pouch note is incredible. Upon smoking it, I instantly recognized that Tastykake is genuinely a quality blend. Complex recipe that produces just a lovely enjoyable flavor and aroma. I really love the Oriental forwardness of this blend. The Lat and Orientals definitely dominate the overall taste as the Virginia provides a subtle bottom. Perique registers as a fruity earthly spice note somewhat tamed by the Cavendish. I scored this one 3.4 out 4 and do intend to keep it in my rotation, Highly recommended to all English enthusiasts.

Seems I am enjoying a few of Russ' blends lately. I had no bite with this and it had a great room note and taste. A must have smoke for my collection.

I have been a pipe smoker for 60 years I have 25 different tobaccos. I read the description and ordered 3 ounces. After one pipe full, I immediately ordered 16 ounces more. It has become my favorite tobacco of all time. It has a combination of flavors and aromas that I find incredibly satisfying.

I purchased an ounce of Russ’ Tastykake along with 3 other tobaccos to try. Let me tell you, out of all of them this was my favorite tasting. First quarter of the bowl I got a zingy tangy taste that was out of this world - as it faded a nice spicy peppery taste finished off the draw. Half way down that zing kind of went to the background and I was left with sweet, spicy, peppery awesome goodness. My lord this stuff is good. Thanks!

I will say this.. the blends are not bad at all. I wish Tastykake would have more sweetness. Take the sweetness of H&H and put it in Tastykake and it would be an amazing blend. Both blends are well balanced and many would enjoy them.

Please, please do not purchase this blend! Russ hit the mark on this one, limited production and it will leave more for me. I bought one ounce to try and two bowls later i ordered 8 oz. Very English smokey flavor and I have enjoyed it thoroughly. Smoke on!

I was very pleased with this blend. Top ten for sure. Im not gonna go out on a limb and describe the flavor, but it was very pleasent. Not too bold but not bland either. Room note kinda choked my wife up, it does have a burning grass scent to it, pleasent for me, not the wife. All in all, I'm gonna cellar this stuff and see how it turns out after a couple months.

I guess that I dont have the knowledge to discern between many different types and amounts of tobaccos. Having been limited to drug store brands for the several years of pipe smoking, I find myself looking for more.. I mail ordered for some Dunhill Night Cap and discovered that I love English blends. I love the spiciness of them, and have tried many. Some better than others. This Tasty Cake tobacco is the most satisfying bowl of pipe tobacco that I have ever had the pleasure to smoke. I absolutely love the spicy, peppery taste, the smooth, complete burn, and fantastic after taste, with little to no tongue bite. I will definitely be stocking up on this blend

This stuff is pretty good even if it is a little dry. Go for it if you like bold and sweet with lots of smoke.

This was fantastic! It is an instant new favorite. With a name like Tastykake I might have been afraid of something too covered in flavorings, but this is an excellent English with the smootj black cavendish bringing it all together. This is a new favorite!

This stuff is truly a treat no matter what time of day! It rubs out evenly and smokes down to a fine fluffy white ash. The flavors develop the longer you smoke. This I would agree is a Balkan style blend and it satisfies my craving for a stout yet light-bodied English. If you enjoy smooth flavorful cake then go no further! Try it, you won't he disappointed!!

After trying a couple of ounce, I bought three pounds of the stuff! I liked it so much, that I wanted to stash a bunch of it away, because it is a limited production run. My three pounds came in one 2.5 lb shrink wrapped package, and one package with four 2oz brownies. This is a cool smoking, smooth, easy on the mouth blend, but very flavorful. I smoked 10 to Midnight yesterday, to have a reference, and my first bowl of Russ' Tastykake today. There is notable difference between the two, mainly the Perique (though the Black Cavendish changes the mouth feels). The Perique adds a whole new dimension to the blend, and there's enough in there to do that job quite well. I don't have a preference for one or the other, they are equally enjoyable but different.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but what I got was a great tobacco blend! My order arrived in large chunks of pressed cakes, it smells fantastic in the bag There is plenty of latakia, but not over the top, it's very smooth and balanced. I'm just reaching the honey zone of my first bowl of this tobacco, and a cloying sweetness is coming through.... I like it! It's smoking cool and with zero bite, I'm going to like that too! I My pipe is barely warm, but im getting a good quantity of smoke. It's not as strong as I thought it might be, but it's strong enough for a satisfying smoke. Im glad I stocked up on this one. I went by a friend's recommendation, and bought two pounds, which is something I don't normally do. I'm laying in a very large cellar in preparation for the FDA Deeming Regulations that are coming down soon. So I'm nearing the bottom of the first bowl, and it's been a fantastic experience. The slow burn made my pipe last a long time, about an hour in my Savinelli Churchwarden. What a delightful surprise this one turned out to be, it's way smoother than I expected, with the sweet Virginia punching through, but the latakia is taking the show. This developed into something very special My pipe is still only just warm to the touch, my tongue feels it should, and I'm contemplating filling her up again and having another go at it!

I found this to be a good but unexceptional smoke. Compared to other P&C blends it just misses the mark. I'd call it bland balkan if there an be such a thing.

The tin note of this blend is of Latakia and you can smell the Perique as well as the grassy odor of the Virginias. The black Cavendish is evident also with its stand up character. Under match, you instantly get Latakia and a small amount of Perique. Throughout the bowl, the spicy Perique does not change in intensity until the last little bit of the bowl. Which for me was pleasant as I have a tough time with it. This blend is not a billowing smoke blend and maybe I just smoked it that slowly. This was a very acceptable English blend. The nicotine hit was moderate and will not bowl you over, however, if hit too hard it will get hot. Also, this blend burns dry and leaves no moisture in the bowl. This was actually a very good blend. Must get more.

The smell & taste is out of this world very relaxing like being by the lake. Your mind just drift away into another world. It's not the best but for the price it's incredible at least try for your self and see

Really impressed with this stuff. My two ounces came in a single jagged brick, and it’s some of the most tightly compressed crumble cake I’ve had. Even given the density of my portion it was easy to break off a corner and bust it up. I did mostly a gravity feed with just a light tamp and this stuff took off. Incredibly sweet and smoky, with that hint of tartness underneath, I’m really pleased with it. I’m going to do a side by side, but I believe I prefer this over bengal slices or plum pudding.

Solid English blend. Latakia dominant with just a little sweetness. Perique is most noticeable in the latter part of the bowl.

Yes, that’s the amount I bought after the first one...got 3 left... that’s how much I like this tobacco. It seriously took over all other tobaccos I have. Intend to buy some more in the near future. Really well balanced ,smooth , smokes cool, bowls last way longer then other tobaccos .it just works for me great, plain and simple.

10 to Midnight is a lovely blend to begin with. Add the perique and cavendish to balance it and it's sublime.

I chose this as a Recommendation from smoking pipes.com. I prefer cakes and flakes because of their slow burning quality. This one is not disappointing at all but must be mouth slowly and in a proper pipe. Some tobacco is don’t agree with some pipes I have found. Will definitely buy again

A little difficult to keep it going; however easy on tongue and mouth. Not much aroma.

Normaly when I have ventured away from by normal tins of various English and Latakia blends t try something new, I m disappointed. But Russ's TastyKake was a delightful surprise that is really well worth a try. I hope it will be available throughout the year, because I'm burning through it very quickly and will want more. Well done. Many of us are still bereft without our wonderful McClelland blends, which I'm afraid for years I took for granted....then Whooooosh!!!

It is great you can smoke all day

I must admit, at first I did not know what to think of this tobacco. It has a strong smoky barbeque type of scent. comes in tightly pressed chunks that are very hard and tend to break into a powder if rubbed out. The more I smoke 10 To Midnight the more I like it! Some consider this a LAT BOMB and although it is great by itself, it is even better when added to other blends especially aromatics (CB Grape, Sutliff Vanilla Custard, etc.) and can really add body and flavor to any sweet tobacco and have found that mixing blends is fun and you may come up with something interesting (1 bowl at a time in case it doesn't come out to your liking). Have heard this blend gets better with some age or "cellaring". This is one blend I wouldn't mind stocking up on. Happy piping ladies and gentlemen!

reminds me of a tin of tobacco i bought many many years ago i cannot remember who put it out but you nailed the flavor spot on!

This blend is a wonderful example of a savory Balkan, slight sweet notes throughout, light on the Latakia but nice and smoky with a slow puff. Rub gently as this will turn to dust if your to aggressive. Will compare to Russ tasty cake to see if this blend stays in my rotation.

I liked it immediately just from smelling it unlit, a fascinating mixture of scents that almost tell me a story as all the best tobaccos do. I left off one star because my only difficulty has arisen from working out the best way to load it in the bowl, or rather, to prepare it for smoking. I have tried tearing off a corner and stuffing it in whole, didn't burn very well. I tried rubbing it out so it was a pile of small pieces, burned too fast! Also this is one of those tobaccos that needs the right pipe and I think I've finally nailed it with my Crown 7125, these are excellent pipes by the way, I have three of them, all different but good.

The flavors are marvelous, doesn't bite and burns Slow. I prefer not breaking it up too much when loading and sipping it with some fine libation. Like smoking a fine cigar. Russ... Home Run!

I like to to try somthing new most everytime I buy. It tates OK but just a little to much work for me when I just want to sit down & enjow a good smoke, I guess I'm not a kake person. It tatses fine with little but not much tongue bite. I am glad I had a new experience.

I'm new to pipe smoking, so my review is not much use to experienced smokers. I bought several different types of tobacco to try. I didn't know which type to try first ie burleys, virginias, etc. After being overwhelmed with suggestions from reviews and other sources, I picked this one to smoke first because it smelled so good to me. To me the tin note was great. Smelled like a burning fireplace log, which I love. I have starting out with a MM Missouri Pride neked pipe. I do not have enough experience with a taste palate yet, but its seemed smooth and not harsh. I cannot speak to the room note, as I am a lone smoker. I think my starting choice is a winner (at least to me).

Hearth & Home 10 to Midnight is a wonderful English blend when you want a serious amount of latakia. Though I'm mostly an Aromatic smoker, I do enjoy the varieties offered with English blends. 10 to Midnight is one of the strongest blends I have in my cellar containing latakia. It's usually one of the last blends I smoke at night.

Russ did good. Might need a tad more umph but good smoking overall. Smooth, no bite and good for pipe dreams!

At first I thought it was a little too mellow, but the second pipe bowl was better, and the third was absolutely marvelous probably because I let it dry out a bit. My favorite so far.

Title says it all. 1.5 year pipe smoker. Kept buying different flavors but couldn't find anything as good as lane limited 1q. Finally found a new favorite.

I refer to this one as “the bar” because it came in this little 2oz slab looking thing and because it’s like if you dropped a 500lb bench press bar of flavor on your face. It’s almost impossible to list all the flavors here. Best smoked in a small bowl for our puny minds could not comprehend it in a full sized pipe.

If you like Dunhill’s nightcap then please try this! Night cap for me was a seven out of 10 But 10 to mid. Is a 10 out of 10. It has a good amount of Latakia of course, but not too much as to cover up the other tobaccos. This is my new go to Latakia bland.

There's a reason this one is a solid 5 stars... I can sometimes be a bit generous in my reviews because imo pipe tobacco is like pizza, or... something else that consenting adults do with their spare time haha. Ergo, 'Even when it's bad, it's good'. But this one deserves those stars. This is one that marries the best qualities of aromatic and non-aro together harmoniously... and would be a great blend for aro smokers looking to expand their horizons.. or the reverse. While I disagree with some of the reviews about being cool smoking, it's not overly hot either. Some pre-drying may improve this. There is however, as others stated, zero tongue bite. The ripe age of the leaf is apparent and, along with the melding of flavors provided by the pressing, lends a distinction and subtlety to the profile which sets this blend apart. Well done Mr. Oulette!

Fired up my meerschum pipe with some Ten to midnight, the taste is Awesome, the fragrance is also Awesome!!

I was looking for another taste in tobacco, so I bought 10 to midnight, thought that I would try something new,

A hard light for me and takes some relights, but this is a rewarding smoke. I think this and Fusiliers Ration are two tobaccos that I've discovered over this winter, which I cannot wait to smoke in the summer. This is going to be my late night, porch sitting, river-valley-watching tobacco. And it will probably find its way in to my pack for backpacking, too. It's got this very deep Latakia flavor that plays well with the other tobaccos in the blend for a sweet, smokey experience. Really pleased. I shared some with a friend tonight and we both had some great conversation, and the namesake timeframe was about right.

Tried this after all the good reviews. Agree on most points. It is a really good smoke. A bit hard to light, but worth the effort. I really liked the flavor. My only negative is that this is the smelliest tobacco I've ever tried. As some others have said, smells like a campfire. That is the downside. When I come in from smoking on my patio (never smoke inside my house) I have to take whatever clothes/shirt I have on and immediately toss them in the washer. Not sure I will be ordering more. Damn shame, as it's a really tasty tobacco to smoke.

This is my go to choice. I do rotate other tobacco (because the world is a big place and berrie variety is wonderful). But this one is cool smoking, the dark chocolate like flavors go great with several wines, and the room note is very pleasant.

I tend to prefer a little more bold blends, but purchased this one based on some other reviews. Cool smoking. Mild enough to smoke all day. A little sweet on the nose, I use it to introduce newer smokers to non-aromatics. I keep a good portion on hand now.

Purchased a 4 oz. order to try this. I gave 1/2 to a friend. We both really like this blend! The flavor is nice, and it's strong enough to taste while drinking a strong cup of coffee or adult beverage as a compliment to your smoke. The bulk presentation was pretty much already rubbed out for me, which was fine, since you end up having to break it up prior to smoking anyhow. Lots of interesting flavor happening here, especially if you take your time and really enjoy your smoking experience.

LOVE Russ's Tastykake!!!? My FAVORITE blend, by far..

Finally discovered what my tall skinny bent briar is good for. Open the pouch and the Latakia asserts itself immediately...then there’s the crumble cake aspect...I broke it down to 1/4” chunks, stuffed the bowl and noted that it was already 10:30...a half hour late to light up. Even with my crummy rubbing out technique, it isn’t hard to light and keep going. It’s amazingly smooth! Not even a hint of bite. Lotsa smoke and a very pleasant Latakia aroma. A note of sweetness now and again. The larger pieces may yield brief periods of differing flavor...adds adventure for sure. My poor rubbing out approach necessitated a couple of relights, aka pauses to reflect. For its rugged appearance and Latakia nature, it sure is a nice mild smoke. I’ll do better on the next bowl. Definitely think a deep narrow bowl is a plus on this one...oh yeah, this 10:30 start looks like it could easily make 11:30 or later before running out...not a bad thing. The Mountain road between Santa Fe and Albuquerque is an easy one hour drive. I’ll try that next, should time out just about right.

H&H 10 to Midnight has its own thing going on. It's got a richness and a complexity that is hard to nail down but easy to enjoy. It is mild enough to smoke all day, but I use it as a break between my dark-fired Burleys and traditional English blends. I didn't give it 5 stars because it has to be rubbed out pretty hard before it will burn well. But it is tasty. TRY SOME!

Three stars because the tin note is actually better than the smoke. I just received 2 oz. because I wanted to try it. the tobacco is kinda sticky; probably due to the pressing? It's not a bad english, but there's better out there like all of the Frog Morton's. Has a slight tongue bite but not bad. The tin note reminds me of a camp fire or BBQ, but you don't get that while smoking it. I'm going to cellar this for a while and see if it improves?

I am really impressed with this blend! It's got plenty of smoky latakia goodness. It's a great all day smoke when paired with your morning coffee or evening bourbon.

Smokes very cool and very tasteful

This is excellent. Fairly sweet, smokey and fragrant. The cakes/flakes are pressed very dense and hard. Needs some time to get lit and some relights. Smokes dry and cool. It's a very good latakia blend. Not too strong and IMO not only for late night.

This is a nice tobacco. I ordered it along with the current bulk version of Dunhill Nightcap looking for a heavy latakia blend. They are not much alike. Nightcap is spicy and complex. 10 to Midnight is a simpler smoke. But it's a nice soft smoke which I enjoy. Wonderful campfire room note. That's the feature I like best about 10 to Midnight - smoky room note that I find very pleasant. Mouth feel is great, but I want more variety of flavor. So I usually put in a a healthy pinch of something else depending on my mood. I've often added McClelland's blending oriental to get a spicier smoke. Now and then I add a strong burley flake to get more nicotine. Smoking it straight however, I found it a bit dull in flavor after mid bowl. Perhaps I need to smoke it slower. I recommend a smaller pipe for this blend. Btw, I like drier tobacco and this crumble cake was not too dry for my taste. Good to have on hand. I'll order more when I run out.

This is my everyday smoke. Russ, made a perfect full bodie smoke, with a beautiful aroma and leaves a gorgeous white ash. Wife loves smell also. You should try this bkend

Gorgeous, black slabs of smokey, sweet bliss. The 'tin note' (bought mine in bulk and have a jar stuffed full) is dark and mysterious like... Who am I kidding? It smells like the most delicious beef jerky you've ever had and I wish you luck in not taking a bite. The cake is awesome; So easy to prepare, not to mention store. Sweet and silky smoke- tasted of fresh linen and dark fruit with a light floral aftertaste and a hint of spice with absolutely no bite. burns slow, cool, and dry. the downside- Personally I love the aroma, but unless your guests are pipe smokers, you may have to smoke this one on the porch. I think this blend comes close to containing the maximum percentage of Latakia a blend can contain while remaining varied and interesting. As soon as this is back in stock, I will be grabbing a few more bricks.

I have been smoking a pipe for over 50 years and this is the first crumble cake that I have tried. Tastykake is an appropriate name. I love the taste. It smokes cool, is easy to keep lit, my wife likes the aroma and no tongue bite. It doesn't get much better than this one. Keep it coming.

Russ O has done it again. Another fabulous combination that lives up to its name. While it is not as "full" as some of his other Lat blends, this one is just right for that Lat taste with enough sweetness to keep you coming back. My not so refined taste buds put this in a great crossover catagory with a good kick. Love this stuff. Get it while it lasts.

Hopefully they will post this review instead of my first review. My first review was based on user error. This was my first time using a kake tobacco and I just picked off bits of the kake and packed the bowl with them to smoke. Not the best way to smoke this blend. Afterwards I smoked Peterson Irish flake where you have to rub out the tobacco. First time with a flake as well. I revisited this afterwards and applied the same technique before packing and it made quite the difference. Now I can see why they call it tastykake it brought out the flavor very nicely still smooth, mellow, well aged no bite but now I can taste the flavor much better. Very nice tobacco.

Russ! You have GOT to make more Tastykake! This stuff is delicious and smooth! Such a satisfying smoke. I bought 2 oz and now wish I had bought a pound! It came in a tightly compressed and hardy cake. The 2 oz I bought were the size of a small brownie, but the weight is justified - the stuff is dense. It crumbles nicely. The moisture content is great for the flavor but it does require frequent re-lights, which is of no consequence. It's all about flavor! It's a great balance of English smokiness, smoothness, and light sweetness. Thanks for the surprise release!

Not a bad blend, mellow, well aged, smooth, no bite. However my wife doesn't like the room note and with the name I expected a bit more flavor. Glad I gave it a try but not really my cup of tea. Gonna have to smoke this outside. May try getting some latakia to add to it to give it some kick.

Sligtly sour bag note, but not at all evident in the bowl. Comes in a compressed cake form. Complex in flavor. Good amount of Latakia, but not overpowering. Floral-like oriental in the background. Subtly sweet. It gets better as the midpoint smoking of the bowl. Gets a little spicy near the end of the bowl. I have several tobacco jars but always come back to this. Quite a smokey room note. I've gotten comments on whether something is burning a couple hours after it's been smoked. Probably better as an outdoor smoke. Great evening smoke for pondering before bed. Highly recommended. I find myself pleasantly sighing while smoking this blend. I love it so much I'll sometimes smoke back-to-back bowls! This'll be a regular purchase for sure. This has become my daily Latakia tobacco. Cool, smooth and balanced. First gut it in a deal, fell in love with it immediately!

An excellent Balkan-style krumble kake. Just the right balance of Latakia to Virginia. The Orientals add a little extra depth… A savory and citrusy perfection.

Don't be thinking this is penzance. Because it's not, I actually think it's better in the Latakia dept. With age penzance seems to lose its smokiness. This blend is great for the price.

Loving it

This is lovely. i love english blends and i love cakes. fun to prepare and even more enjoyable to smoke. its everything i love about an english. smokey, effervescent latakia and an elusive undercurrent of something "buttery". i keep puffing just to find and define what that is, but i just cant quite grab it. the fun is in the hunt i suppose. All day, everyday if allowed... i see a lot of comparisons to Penzance. if its anything like this i bet its wonderful. if i never get to try it i don't think ill care as long as i can get my hands on 10 to midnight. Regrets? not buying a pound...

This has become my favorite late night smoke. It burns slowly and cleanly, and the flavor comes through to the last puff. The name is a perfect match to the blend, with its deep notes and smooth finish.

This was my first latakia blend and I was not disappointed. The first thought after smelling the bag (i went for the bulk) was a campfire in the woods. The taste was great and it lingered for quite a while. The room was warm and relaxing, though perhaps not to those who are not used to tobacco. There was a slight peppery taste/sesation throughout, which was pleasant. Overall, I cannot wait to order more. Highly recommended.

Long, cool, Mild Latakia

One of the best english/balkan blends I've tried to date, H&H has never let me down and this is another winner.

This has become my favorite tobacco to end the day with. Nice burn and a deep rich flavor that really helps me let it all go.
